Potions give him faster reflexes as someone wrote here. And if the enemy has plate armor, his sword can handle that easily. It's made of magnetite steel and enchanted with dwarven runes.
Fun fact Geralt had flashy hema like moves whilst the enemies had historical accurate attack types when they developed the game, as you can see. But never historical accurate equipments like a dark souls knight having a two handed weapon with a shield and a full plate armor with his tiny wiener.

People also overlook the fact that Geralt's style is for fighting monsters, large, small, singular and in mobs. Maybe spinning is good for mobs? Maybe acrobatic swings are good for slashing Griffins? And yeah. He's superhuman. Don't forget that.
He's a superhuman like Captain America. Slightly more strength than a human, but not extreme super strength like Spiderman. Against a mob, spinning will work only if the enemies are close to him. Real life humans are smarter than video game enemies. They won't stay put near you while you spin a sword at their neck. They'll retreat, and while you're spinning your sword around like a crazy person, you'll run out of stamina and then they'll close up and finish you off.
Can i just say finding this channel has just made me binge all the episodes. But these guys are my favorite every other expert talks alittle of each thing but these guys dive into history and facts and talk theories its amazing 5 stars would sub again.
Fun fact: early closed helmets were often dropped after closing the distance (arrows were more feared; under them you had still your Mail haubwerk and maybe a skull cap) and later helmets were opened to give better vision, hearing, breathing, but also talking (giving orders).
From where do you have that, bc I never heard of that. The helmet was there to protect you from strikes you didn't see, like from behind or the side and the visor to protect the face from stabs and blows from the front.
That's a load of bullshit. Helmets are one of the most important pieces of armour for melee combat as a single strike to the head, even a rather weak one can be completely debilitating as the head is such a vulnerable part of the body. Visored helmets like the bascinet and salet were almost always worn in the closed position during melee combat to protect the face from strikes. In fact during duels between fully armoured combatants, one of the most important aspects was wrestling your opponent to the ground such that you could open their visor to attack their face with your dagger. Stop talking out of your ass.
@@bladez479 There was a reason why some Great Helms had chains connected to the coat-of-plates. After a lance-collision or when needing extra visibility the helmet was taken off. Underneath there was another helmet called a "cervelliere", which eventually evolved into the bascinet and became a single standalone helmet with a moveable visor. edit: just to mention, that there are helmets with "keyholes" where one can insert a T-shaped key, which is chained to the breastplate/coat-of-plates. There is evidence of this in artwork too and helmets under other helmets.
The game would be too fast for our eyes to catch if we were actually seeing just how fast The Witcher was spinning right now that spin you see is as fast as a blink of an eye in the Witcher time

"If you wanna see, breath or move: armor's rough" *meanwhile the internet has people performing gymnastics in full plate to prove the myths about how sluggish it is incorrect* As for the point about seeing and breathing in restraining helmets; I say wear as much as you can bear where the head is concerned, and for the love of everything keep your sword up; it's your head's best armor.
I like this, most of the focus on the armour being the reason you lived over the movie version of armour making you look pretty as you die in a single strike.
"Geralt, you would be killed by six people" We´ll just ignore all of his superhuman physical characteristics, his special abilities, his incomparable skill, his signs and his potions to mention a few of his possibilities to achieve it.
They're commenting on the capacity if a normal human, expert of swordsmanship or not, is placed under that circumstance. Realistically the lone person will die if he/she fights the group head on. Just a reminder so that some silly people don't say "oh, there are twelve armed people looking to kill me there. Geralt can do it, so surely I can take them on if I follow his example."
In the books Geralt got killed by an Angry Mob of peasants, and routinely runs away from any group of soldiers larger than 3 because to him that’s an automaticly lost fight.
@@Kingdomkey123678 He massacred the shit out of the group of 4 assassins in Blood of Elves though, but ended up dying of blood loss if not for help from another human.

Great job hiring HEMA people. Waaaay better. One minor criticism though: langmessers weren't made because swords were illegal outside nobility. Langmessers were made because the knife craftsmen guilds wanted to sell swords, but they are not allowed to make swords. But swords were categorized by a blade with a tang that goes through hilt and handle. The knife guilds simply made a long blade with a knife handle (tang sandwiched by two wood boards at the side with pegs holding it in place; hard to describe, but just look at the knife handle at your home). And boom: sword guilds make swords, knife guilds make long knives.
Both of these theories don't seem to have much evidence backing them up. I remember reading this too, but I struggle to remember the name of the book and historian that raised this claim. Do you have anything on hand?
They gave us all relevant and real answers. Gameology hired many times tools instead of pros but this is not the case. Yet there are group of ppl giving thumbs down. Good job guys. It was entertaining and educational. Thanks.

You can twirl around to keep people away from you which is something trained in hema. You can roll around to avoid things effectively as well. My example is the 30 foot rule with a knife vs a gun, the dude with the knife will win but if I roll it creates enough distance to shoot knife guy

@@odinson5911 I wasn't talking about a mob of humans, more like a mob of Nekkers. Creatures who don't know sword=ouch
For monsters probably would be better, but still....the moment I'm offering you my back....still very dangerous if the monster decides to risk it....
Can i just say finding this channel has just made me binge all the episodes. But these guys are my favorite every other expert talks alittle of each thing but these guys dive into history and facts and talk theories its amazing 5 stars would sub again.
HEMA insctructors react to For Honor's Knight Faction (Warden, Peacekeeper, Centurion, Lawbreaker, Black Prior)! Make it happ3n!
ANDREW FRICKIN HALL! I did NOT expect to see you when I clicked on this video! Love to see you discussing what you love about an epic game!
@@bladez479 Exactly, this more sounds like Bullshit Fact.
@@RyanRyzzo That is very intersting, i allways wondered what they do with their helmets if they want to take them of for a while.
My man's Andrew Hall wearing a kilt. An amazing sight to see
The game would be too fast for our eyes to catch if we were actually seeing just how fast The Witcher was spinning right now that spin you see is as fast as a blink of an eye in the Witcher time
I like this explanation
Yep, a lot of people forget this. Geralt would be just a blur if it showed his actual speed.
Geralt isn't even that far above most baseline humans, he just has much faster reaction speeds. Anybody could move that fast if they had the confidence Geralt has in his movements.
And that's the only reason why he gets away with that technic. Gerald can basically do every move he wants as long as he fights normal ppl.
@@glowhoo9226 exactly if anybody forgets just how fast and geralt is they should re-watch the trailer for The Witcher 3 where the group of nilfgaardian soldiers were about to hang the woman
FINALLY! Thank you Gamology!!!! For getting HEMA instructors!!!
Make them react to Mordhau and Kingdom Come Deliverance
@3:40 messer is one-handed.That, my friends, is a kriegsmesser, the knife-equivilant to the longsword. It's for two hands.
Please please do Kingdom Come Deliverance
That’s so cool both these guys are experts in a fighting form nobody uses anymore! Neat!
HEMA Instructors: "Nooo you can't just spin around and fight more than one or two people at a time that's unrealistic reeeee!"
Geralt: "He he massively superhuman mutant physiology goes BRRRRR"
@incinerator950 He's massively superhuman as far as barely-in-shape hema purists are concerned.
I LOVED these guys!! Such great chemistry, have em On again!
Do them reacting to kingdom come deliverance
YES! This is EXACTLY what we've been talking about! Can't wait for these guys to react to For Honor, especially the characters in the Knight Faction (seeing as they're HEMA practioners, the Knights Faction should be their specialty)!
*"Noice."*
I love these guys, they end up talking more about history than the game but it is very informative and interesting to hear their point of view
Humans alive in 2020 react to Plague Inc.
Love these series with people reacting to video games, the marines are my favorite!
Goats react to “Goat Simulator” make it happen!
Guys, this was awesome!! Thank you👑
"If you wanna see, breath or move: armor's rough"
*meanwhile the internet has people performing gymnastics in full plate to prove the myths about how sluggish it is incorrect*
As for the point about seeing and breathing in restraining helmets; I say wear as much as you can bear where the head is concerned, and for the love of everything keep your sword up; it's your head's best armor.
Finally real swordfighters.
"There is no advantage to rolling"
Rolling in dark souls: Am I a joke to you?
*Ninja flipping in havel plate*
I like this, most of the focus on the armour being the reason you lived over the movie version of armour making you look pretty as you die in a single strike.
"Geralt, you would be killed by six people"
We´ll just ignore all of his superhuman physical characteristics, his special abilities, his incomparable skill, his signs and his potions to mention a few of his possibilities to achieve it.
That's why no one does videos like these: "Oh yeah but you didn't know that X character is God and could totally do it".
@@spearsage this was only a joke I supposed they talked if all of them were on equal condition which would include being human but even in that circumstance the opponent wouldn't be Geralt of Rivia (his circumstances, his decisions, all would be changed)

He speaks of poleaxes, yet you show a picture of an axe... that's not right.
When did that ever happen?
@@PoIy178 in the intro.
@@zerrierslizer1but... That is a poleaxe, I mean Google it look at images of different poleaxes that's a poleaxe
I'm sorry but that is a poleaxe man

1:29 I mean have you seen a landsknecht depiction? :D
in-game the colourfulness is also typical to the region btw
just two dudes comparing themselves to a monster slaying mutants whos been alive for more then a century
FINALLY they bring actual sword fighters to the show. Thank you gamology :)
Yess was waiting for this video! Thank you guys. Please bring these guys on to react to more games. I love ‘em
This was super entertaining. These guys are awesome. More from these guys!!
@@eirin481 Can't give you a first hand source, but here's a video of a guy who cites the first hand source:

Yes on HEMA practitioners! Bring them back for more historical criticism!
This is probably the coolest episode yet
We need a lot more of these guys
Finally you get some people actually knowledgable in the ways of historical fighting in, and not the dubiously named ‘sword experts’
Expert: *"There is no advantage in rolling around"*
Dark Souls: Is this a challenge?
These two are my new favorite experts 😄
These guys had a lot more commentary, love the knowledge these guys bring!
You guys got HEMA instructors! It's nice when people actually care about what the fans say.
Those are some really good comments. Wish they would be on more vids.
They gave us all relevant and real answers. Gameology hired many times tools instead of pros but this is not the case. Yet there are group of ppl giving thumbs down.
Good job guys. It was entertaining and educational. Thanks.
Love to see pros tips about their experience
0:55 He's talking about manuals " as late as 1880" and "earlier", so they're taking about 1880 or prior.
The text on screen is ">1880", which is wrong.
"Or just dont fight anybody."
Very accurate martial arts insight right there people, keep it in mind.
Im super excited for hema to react to lots of these
You can twirl around to keep people away from you which is something trained in hema.
You can roll around to avoid things effectively as well.
My example is the 30 foot rule with a knife vs a gun, the dude with the knife will win but if I roll it creates enough distance to shoot knife guy
You can tell how both of them Really get Into it when talking about daggers and stuff XD
Oh my lord. You actually did it. Thank you so much Gamology.
