I think what's creepy is the fact that he was so blindly obsessed with it.
Real it’s creepy ..
It's like with the goncharov thing in Tumblr. It's part of the etiquette that you will say, at least in tags, that it's an ARG or it's storytelling. It doesn't take away from the immersion, but it also helps people who are easily scared, people who suffer from dissociation, and to not give space to hoaxers.
What does ARG stand for?
@@Felicity2121 alternate reality game
@@teddybear4038 Thank you 😊
@@Felicity2121 Alternate reality game, I think she says so in the video.
Agreed!
This is for the people who get scared easily, this video can’t hurt you, you are safe, you are going to be okay, you have people who love you all around you, if you get super scared then you don’t have to watch this video! I promise everything will be okay, YOU are going to be okay and I promise you won’t get possessed or haunted through a screen, you are going to be okay I promise! Have a beautiful day

Thank you
You are so sweet to post this. I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated by many. Thank you for having such a caring heart
Thats so sweet!
Ty!
I think the poster should have at least disclosed or asked permission from the artist who made the doll. It's different from a mass-produced prop because that artist's hard work is being taken for granted and they probably see it as loss of potential customers to their small business.
As for when to disclose ARGs, it's hard to say because part of the fun of it is suspending your disbelief that it could be real. The times I would say it's necessary are when real people's lives get mixed in, for example when the actress from Ash Vlogs was being harassed--that ARG especially seemed very close to reality and it's not a stretch to think that people would get confused. I'm sure most creators want to lean into that though, but they should probably make sure everyone involved is on board and maybe suggest that they take a break from social media for the duration of the game.
i vehemently disagree, the poster bought the doll, they own it, they do not need permission to use something they own. a seller does not retain any rights to a sold item, what is done with the item after it is sold is not remotely the business of the seller. i mean how is it going to affect their business? the store not being mentioned at all would neither negatively or positively impact the creator/store. honestly would you buy something if the seller told you "btw i get a say in how you use this item for the entire time you own it and you're not allowed to do anything with it without my permission"? no, no you wouldn't.
tl;dr - you buy an item, you own that item, the seller/creator no longer has any rights to dictate what is done with it.
@@admirable_minimum2163 it's not about rights though, it's the integrity of misrepresenting the origin of the artist's creation. It's natural to be upset in that case and the artist has just as much "right" to set the record straight. If the poster wanted to avoid that scenario then they should've found an artist willing to cooperate accordingly.
They bought it, they can use it as they see fit. They aren't passing it off as their creation.
Yes! Especially when it’s a small business or you have commissioned someone. In some cases you may own the artwork or item, but that does not mean that you automatically don’t have to credit the artist, as that is extremely wrong and can hurt their business
@@admirable_minimum2163 you're not technically wrong, but what you typed out is just extremely immoral and shitty. If you commission a piece from a small business to use in something that is intended to reach a wide audience, you need to give credit to the artists whose work you're using to help elevate your video. You aren't legally obligated to, sure, no. But it's just the right thing to do. Take a seat. Calm down. Be a better human being.
Oddly this makes me think of my own haunted doll. She's a "Living Dead Doll". A plastic collector's doll made to look like a haunted porcelain doll. She's not an old doll, and yet, you can definitely tell she's inhabited. I wish someone would do some research into what might cause spirits to inhabit newer vessels, because I get the feeling that's what happened with my doll. It very much feels like she had to switch vessels for some reason from being in something else before.
Dude I love living dead dolls. I have the chucky x Tiffany dolls. They are so cool. That's unfortunate that yours has got some weird paranormal happenings associated with it.
I was taking no b.s. from the beginning, + there's no way the princess of Wales owned that 😭 it took me right out of the story
Yup, the video editing was good tho.
She’s not referring to the current princess of wales. She’s referring to Princess Charlotte from the 1700s
@@hanin_gurl why is that relevant?
@@Purupurupururinx3 what do you mean?
The ARG discussion is one worth having.
But, it's messy because that doesn't seem to be the point of contention. To me, it seems that the artist was genuinely concerned that their art was being used to deceive people into thinking there was a real haunting happening here.
If the artist thought it was an ARG, they might have just let it go on without saying anything.
Imo, this particular case is cut and dry. The artist who made the doll has every right to take credit for their work, and the person who made the Charlotte account should have thought twice about using that particular doll for a story. Not only did the doll's appearance ruin any credibility the story had- again, IMO- but it was rude for the poster to use the doll without the artist's consent. The Charlotte account creator should have just gotten an actual antique doll if they wanted to tell a story, but something tells me they only made the account for fun, so at the end of the day there really was no harm done. Thanks for bringing up this topic of discussion, Loey, it was a lot of fun to think about!
Unless the artist specifically states that their artwork should be credited in works of fiction etc, when they sell the doll, what it's used for is up to the person who bought it, imho. The only way it's inappropriate is if the poster claimed they made it themselves or something. Otherwise there is no reason to ask for artist's consent. The poster bought it and it's his to do whatever.
What if the doll was purchased from Etsy by somebody else and then taken to an antique shop, where the poster purchased it from 🧐
That was my first thought
I thought this too
the ending of this and the discussion you brought up reminded me a lot of an old Film Theory video discussing the real facts behind Conjuring movie saga... basically the question is "when can you actually say that this movie was 'based on actual events'? how much reality has to be there in order for this claim to be true?"... it's really interesting and i definitely recommend it!
overall, thank you for the video! i have COVID and am currently isolated in my mom's apartment and binging your old videos to keep me sane lol hope you ok! love you 💖
I think if you’re using artist’s work in an ARG like this person was, the creator should reach out to the artist to tell them what the piece is being used for and promise to credit the artist when the story concludes. But if it’s something that’s mass produced, it’s fair game. If that person had communicated with the artist, the ARG would probably still be going
I entirely agree here
My thoughts exactly! They could have just given them the heads up and it could have been a really cool ARG.
still no; you buy an item, you own that item, the seller/creator no longer has any rights to dictate what is done with it. giving credit is not a condition of sale.
Yeah the "I just can't get rid of her" is kind of yelling pick-me creepy pasta.
All I can think about is some poor hotel maid trying to clean while Spirit Halloween's Ghostly Gertie watches over her kingdom
I have a good sized collection of porcelain dolls and used to turn them all to face the door when I knew the landlord was coming over for an inspection.🤣
my dad used to have a shop at a flea market with his gf. they would buy normal looking antique dolls and repaint/break them to make them look scary. it's possible somebody did this with Charlotte not even knowing she was haunted 🤷🏻
Did you not watch the video? Lmao
Thanks for being part of the experiment everyone 😉
isn´t it also possible that someone bought the doll on etsy, and then didn´t want it so dropped it off at a thrift store for our poster to find? that doesn't make it a real haunted doll, ofcourse
As an artist, I 100% side with the doll's creator on this one. I'm just thinking about how upset and angry I'd be personally if someone had stolen my work for storytelling without my consent and used it to become famous on the internet instead of creating their own original work to do that with. If you can't do that on your own, you don't deserve an artistic or creative platform in the first place. That person should have spent all of their time building skills and talents of their own instead of simply stealing from someone else. That's completely wrong and unfair. The person who created the doll deserves all of that credit. I'm glad the person with the Charlotte account was called out for doing such a horrible thing, they deserved it and maybe now they'll think twice before trying to steal again. That's all I have to say about this one. Thanks for sharing Loey, this is a very important story to spread awareness about, especially to the artistic and creative community. 🙂
I'm an artist too and I have to disagree, at least somewhat. Whether or not the OP should have gotten permission from the doll maker is debateable but I personally don't see this as "stealing". Rather, I see it as transformative work and I feel it not fair to say that OP's work was not original... it's not unique by any means but they obviously put _some_ effort into the illusion of haunting and had to have had videography/editing skills too. Unless it was specified otherwise in my terms & conditions for purchasing a product from me, I'd be fine with another artist using my art in that way. However, since you feel differently and stated that you'd be upset and angry, I can acknowledge that not everyone would see that as okay.
Hey can you help me see your side of this? I struggle with the stolen concept.
It was purchased? Then belonging to the new owner was transformed into a new idea. If someone buys something from my shop and utterly changes it, uses it in a way I didn’t intend… I just personally don’t see that as stealing. Now if they resold it and labeled it their creation. Then yea that’s concept theft, however they still had to buy it. An exchange of ownership occurred.
That’s my thought however, so if you’re able or wanting to, please talk me through what you see. How you get to ownership remaining with the creator and theft.
@@littlestive I agree. It would've been courteous to let the artist know hey I'm going to use your doll in an arg or something and then maybe @ them. But it's like when UA-camrs take clips from other shows, movies etc and transform them into something else. They're not stealing from the original creator.
I have to disagree - they did buy the doll. Not everyone is a dollmaker! After that, I don't think I'm qualified to make any judgements, but I can't see this is stealing, since they paid for it.
The dolls creator sold the doll, so it was not stolen. it did not come with instructions and rules. They could do as they please with the doll. Including destroy it.
We still get immersed in stories knowing that they are stories.
Part of the fun of some of these more realistic ARG is trying to figure out if it's real or a work of fiction but with that being said the creator of the doll should have been notified of the ARG. They do deserve their credit even if it's not at the beginning of the ARG.
Hmm, I wonder if there could be some universal element that could be easily included in any ARG that would tell ppl that's what it is. Like, what if there was a small logo or image ppl could put into graphics or the background of video that would confirm it. That might help save ppl time from chasing down non-args but it could be small enough to not break immersion. Could also prevent ppl from thinking that an ARG is real life and ppl are in danger.
I love that you can nearly *hear* the dog thinking "oh fuck that" in that first clip with the doll
- I remember watching a video a few months back of a lady who had a Cabbage Patch Doll that danced without batteries., (can't recall the details) but I remember her showing there were no batteries in it.
I love haunted dolls but you can tell when one is evil. I was like hell no throughout this video 😂
Hi Loey ! I love how I have a porcelain doll right next to me while I’m watching this video
I feel bad 😂
WAIT WAIT WAIT LOEY HAS AN ARG??? I need to find it now!!❤❤😮
Right that’s what I was thinking!?!!
if you find it pls tag me
Listen, I was saying the same thing! If yall find it lmk!
Piling in for the same reason 😅😊
Guys I'm not sure she actually does. I think she's just using herself as an example
For me i think it is presenting it as a real thing rather then a bit of fiction, impressionable people watch these videos, and totally go off the deep end with it. If it was disclaimed as entertainment sure, Just take a look at the slenderman as an example, it was a work of fiction that two girls ran with to cause harm to others.
Idk…if someone bought a doll from me, I don’t think it’s up to me to basically ruin what the new owner does with it. It’s not like they were taking credit for creating the doll..they were clearly performing a spooky story.
Just seems kind of like a jerk move to be like- dummies, I made this…look at my shop.
Personally- if I was the artist I’d think that was awesome my creation went viral. But that’s me.
In my opinion, the person filming was very much taking the credit away from the artist by claiming it came from an antique shop. Artists looking for credit is NEVER a jerk move. The artist couldn’t be happy about their creation going viral as nobody knew it was their creation
@@JackdawFeathers idk. Agree to disagree I suppose. Depends on the artists motives…creating just to create or for clout. Neither are necessarily bad.
@@Art3misSky Agree to disagree
you bought the item, you have all right to use it how you want. ARG or not, let people enjoy stuff.
I feel like once aspect of ARG’s that draw me in first is how long into it I question if it’s real or not. So if everyone disclosed at first I feel like it would kill it, but I also see why people would say they should. I just think for me it would ruin it.
I get what you mean but I feel like for some ARGs they should disclose it, like ones where it shows someone in danger or something else serious. Especially if posting on tiktok because you could get slapped by guidelines into next Tuesday
I personally think that if an arg shows people potentially in danger or using artwork by another, then maybe disclose that it is a piece of fiction and properly credit the artist.
What do you mean credit the artist?? That person bought the doll.. that person wanted to tell story, why the doll maker have to involve in it, its not like this tiktok was big film with big production to involve the dollmaker!! According to own logic that dollmaker should also give credit to the paint company or to the company that they bought the equipments from to make that doll.
Hi Loey!! Your videos always brighten up my day! Thank you so much!
I hope everyone is doing the best that they can. You are never alone
As someone who worked in args since the early 2000s my opinion is that when they started getting called out they could've avoided some of the backlash if they contacted the dollmaker and spoke with them honestly. Also a lot of audiences have lost the TINAG mentality
Its so lovely to have you upload again!!!
The cabbage patch doll is way more creepy then the haunted doll. Arms come off and the legs are robotic with no skin. The arms come off!!!! The arms just did it for me man. They are attached to the clothes that's not right who designed this doll?! Did they actually use their brain when designing it?!
To vaguely answer your question Loey, this isn't the first time nor will it be the last; I don't know if it's the correct term for it, but I've always called it the "War of the Worlds" dilemma. With modern technologies being what they are, the line between fiction and reality can become exceptionally blurred to the point of nearly being invisible. So perhaps when a story starts to cause wide spread panic, or endangers people and/or areas. In this case I don't think it was particularly harmful to the creator, but at the same time artists should absolutely get the recognition they deserve. So a catch 22 for the creator. Do they wait for the story to end and hope they get credit for a now very famous creation, or do they out the story as fraudulent in order to maintain their creative work?
The only one that can answer that is the creator of the item being used in such a way.
Granted this is nothing more than my own perspective on this and other such works, and is in now way definitive.
While I agree ARGs should be like disclosed, this was basically a social experiment to see how easy it was to convince people into believing something is haunted. It's made by a guy who debunks hauntings, dustindeanmentalist, on tik tok
Devils advocate, how do we know the creator didnt get it from a thrift store? It was sold Months before the account started, it's very plausible they aren't the original buyer since we don't actually know who the creator is.
same thing i was thinking
That is an interesting question..yes the right thing to do would be to send a quick question to the etsy owner and ask if its okay to use their product in this way. However there is no obligation there as the person purchased the doll. Me personally, I would have waited to "call them out" as to not ruin anyones fun :)
The batteries are in the front of the of the doll. And it could be rigged to run on watch batteries. There are many was to rig a battery powered toy. I call BS on both dolls.
You can't tell me a mentally healthy grown man with a wife and children would willingly buy that freaking doll from an antique shop. I am easily creeped out by dolls, but this honestly didn't get me for a second. Especially the chips (tie a string and yank) and the card (please 😂) coming off the fridge. If he does have a kid, they were probably in a cabinet and spooked the dog on purpose. This visual scary story was weak sauce imho.
This situation I feel like does open an interesting question on ARG's. This person not only took someone else's creation and claimed it as a creepy antique, but also brought in a historical figure into their story that could not only be disproven very easily, but felt a bit disrespectful. Someone else's art being used in that manner should have gotten permission from the shop. To go on further, I think kidnapping and murder ARGs should be stated as ARGs. We're getting into a day and age where I am SCARED that someone is ACTUALLY going to harm someone on camera, people are gonna watch it and think it's another ARG and not report it. Not to mention the ARGs that weren't real that got reported because it was too realistic and people got rightfully concerned.
Peoples safety are on the line with that and I think too many ARGs cross the line with how graphic or realistic their kidnapping or murder ARGs go.
I don't think paranormal ones need to be outright stated as long as someone isn't using someone else's art or IRL people for their paranormal ARG, I just think they deserve the mystique.
yeah like the video of the guy in his basement who had a girl tied up, making a video for his friend walter. it suddenly went viral again and people were thinking it was a real missing girl until they found the guy who actually made it.
Bless Queen Loey for uploading💖 I am so sick rn and needed something to watch
I think something as simple as tagging it as an ARG. Doesn't have to be a big announcement but just something small to disclose it as one.
And my daughters (7) just inherited like 15 porcelain dolls......maybe more.
I've never liked them even as a child so this is going to be interesting.
I recently finished reading the hard cover "I'm glad my mom died" Such a good book, yet so devastating! LOVE your videos Loey!
Loey went on a whole tangent to basically tell the original artist "let us have our fun" 😂
I needed this video right now. Perfect timing!
Ugh why doesn't yt ever give md these notifications when they COME OUT. Regardless, great video Loey! Love you ❤️
I’m working on an ARG too and for mine it’s very important to disclose that it’s not real but ask everyone to play along bc I don’t want to distress anyone.
Love you loey! Just got done watching the UA-camrs overnight opening 13 dybbuk boxes at the sallie house and then I see you posted! Yayyyy
I have a feeling the cabbage patch doll was moving without batteries because Charlotte’s energy was so strong. I do hope that Charlotte’s spirit is at least at rest.
that doll is amazingly well done. also, even if she's not haunted, she's creepy looking
that doll is not from the time period of charlotte princess of Wales but yeah
I think the artist is a party pooper & should have just kept a lock on it🤐
Loey looking as beautiful as ever! Your videos make my day so much better!!
I always look forward to these videos
That spirit went y’all
Gonna take me on vacation and then leave me in the hotel room?! Hellllll no
LOVE U LOEEEYY
I’ve been looking for interesting stories all dayyyyy
Thanks for ending my boredom ✨😍
Maybe the antique store bought the doll on Etsy then sold it to the guy and told him the story about it being connected to Princess Charlotte?
Anyone know how to find her Arg?
Personally, I think people who make these videos, especially ones that seem very realistic, should let it be known it's fiction. They don't need to say it, but at least in the caption do so. Mainly because if it seems too real, that's when people get concerned and take real-world actions to see if someone is ok, which can have consequences. Movies and TV shows need to say it's fiction in the end credits, so I don't see how it would take people out of the experience on these types of stories too.
What in the world that looked realistic to you?
@*sukuna-* No, I wasn't saying this one was realistic. I was talking about, in general, these haunted tiktoks or ARG type stories that try to make it very realistic.
Aside frm this it’s ruining how people consume information and media.
I love when people say : “✨I do not claim any negative energy.✨”
Like is the Demon gonna go : “Ah Damnit! Almost had em’ “
😂😂😂 right?
Swiper no swiping rules basically lol who knew it applied to the ghost world 🤷🏻♀️
We love and appreciate you so much Loey ♥️
Why am I watching this before bed
I love not sleeping
Me too
Mee three
Same😂
Me 4
lol just go in public for a bit you might feel better lol. hit the mall
Imo this wasn't an ARG. An ARG requires audience participation and game elements. This was just someone trying to hoax a haunting. The story they made up about it once belonging to Princess Whoever was laughable - you only have to look at the doll to know it's been horror modified and wasn't picked up from an antique store like that. I can understand the seller being irritated that something they put time and effort into is being used as a hoax or as part of something viral that they're not getting any credit as part of. The creator could've easily said where they really bought the doll from and then claimed a haunting, so the seller could get some good engagement from people interested in the videos.
Can you imagine being a housekeeper at that hotel and walking in to see that doll?? 🥴 I would quit. Goodbye.
Hello Kaitlin
Can I have your attention please
I really want to know what ARG you're involved in!!
i really love your podcast loey ♥️
I watch your creepy videos because funny enough… they make me fall asleep when nothing else does 😂 but I still enjoy them a lot! Thank you Loey. ❤
This belief of the doll being haunted can be caused by taking to much Benadryl or anything else that can make you hallucinate, but this person may have a spirit attached to them and the spirit uses the doll as something to gain energy to show their presence.
From the very beginning, from the very first video. I’m not the biggest fan of ARGs.
16:46 I think the real issue is that they issued the artist’s artwork without asking them if they were okay with it being used in that context.
This could have resulted a negative situation for the artist, luckily it didn’t.
I think not knowing is one of the best parts!
This doll was not haunted. The doll is made to look that way, and the poster was outed by the doll maker
So it’s Chucky AND Annabelle? Okay 😳
It’s literally midnight, but oh well, who needs sleep 🤭🤪
Hell yeah, so excited about this! Been waiting for you to upload!
This is probably the EARLIEST I've been
Love you Loey! And love your videos! I'm exited to watch this one :))
"The sun can't vanish" - say hello to Sweden in the winter 🤣
IMO I would’ve agreed with all of the ppl who are saying the artist was in all her right to say that it isn’t true etc but once that person bought the doll it imediately is theirs. There should be no debate in this. They can use the product for anything and the artist should’ve just let that happen instead of ruining an ARG since the product was now not theirs. All the artist had to do is say “Hey this is my product if y’all think it’s good pls stop by my shop and order one” instead of doing all that they did. Also a customer a 100% does NOT need to credit your work as an artist if they bought it off you unless they are pretending it is their own or it’s something like a logo etc. Art can be anything. Ppl crochet and that’s art! So you’re telling me that if I wore something crocheted from an artist in one of my videos suddenly I have to tag them in all of my videos. It just doesn’t make sense and it’s giving me chronically on line.
Hi one of my favorite youtuber I just subscribe today

Hi Loey! Just wanted to say that I've been binge-watching your videos
Loey, you can't just say I'm making an ARG but don't worry about it. I need to know where this is and how to follow along so that I get all of the information.
When the first video came one I got scared by his hand 😭😭
Bro i freakinglove audible, everything is so cheap with the membership and ther
I had nothing to watch. Thanks loey 😁
But was the doll made from scratch or was it bought then painted over
