Great Review! Smiling all the way through the video with your enthusiasm for the Taycan it’s infectious. Brilliant car I could never afford but I dare to dream. Thanks for the dreams.
great to see. I had a 4s on order... then i drove the turbo and switched the moment i got back to the dealer.. Being built in October, delivery end of November. I was already excited... now ive seen your video i really cant wait!
Lucky Bastard!! :) Can see it on your face that smile says it all when you were introducing it. One of the owners of one down here he's already curbed it so now is part of the club of thousands with curb-rash on their rims. going to fix it but god knows what it will cost him being a Porsche. Fantastic Review as well, all the details and up-close shots I haven't seen before. Hope you gave your kids and wife a ride, do the off-the-line acceleration trick you see alot of Tesla owners doing, but this time in a real badged sports car(Porsche) with history behind it. Thanks again Ryan.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the drive. I have seen them on the road and they look beautiful in person. I suspect 200+ kW charging will become a lot more common with in the next few years, but I think 150 kW (for most of the charge curve) is plenty for most people.
What a fantastic car and a excellent review, I can tell from the grin on your face that you loved driving it. Your Dad made me laugh with his reaction to you putting your foot down. Excellent.👍🏻
Fabulous video Ryan. I drove my first Porsche this year. A 4.8 litre Cayenne Turbo S I now get it. Porsche make everything look and feel exquisite. The future is not going to be boring because of electrification. Companies like Porsche will still be making luxurious sports cars.
A great video and nice to see your Dad laughing.......... and swearing! If I could have say, 24 hours with a Taycan, I'd just go and take all my mates out in it and only stop to charge the thing!
Error at 3:10, The coefficient of drag at 0.22 is better than any currently available Tesla. At 19:15 I didn’t follow why using the brake is untidy or unsettles the car? The Taycan will apply regen when pressing the brake pedal up to an amazing 265kW, higher than any other production EV. I personally don’t find that pressing the brake unsettles the car in any way. But also you can set a Auto regen mode and the car will automatically slow down if a vehicle is Vince front of you. I did love the expression from you dad and I agree that the 4S is a great model, add the battery+ and the 20” wheels. You need 285mm in the rear after all. 😊
Thanks for the comments. My issue with touching the breaks is there shouldn’t be a need to when driving on a road, even at speed, if you are anticipating the road ahead. There is nothing worse than sitting behind a break dabber. When you touch the breaks the weight distribution of the car shifts. Of course you can scrub the speed on the straight before turning but it’s just not polished. Just my opinion and in no way takes anything away from an awesome car 😁
@@EVOpinion ok, I understand. But do realize that those “other EVs” with strong regen will trigger the brake lights if exceeding a tuned G- force as well, FYI. I also have a Chevy Bolt EV which does light brake lights when slowing with L mode or paddles.
Good Video, nice car. Tesla Model S plaid has some work to do. Ionic 5/EV 6 with a charging speed test for the next review? Maybe with a test of a new Electric Highway charging post?
It’s a great car for sure, and so easy to drive long distances too. For charging, only one side is DC capable. The other is an AC only port (although here in the US at least we have an option for a 19kW AC charger, so even on AC it’s not that slow). Also, while the build and the dynamics are fantastic, and I have a smile on my face every time I get out of it, the software behind the infotainment is really unreliable. Took two weeks before Porsche support could work out why mine wouldn’t let me log in to my Porsche online account to get access to all the included extras. Not sure what the UK deal is, but we get free charging on the Electrify America network here (US equivalent of Ionity). The first 30 minutes of any session is free which is usually enough to be over 80%. In theory, it is meant to be like Tesla too - plug in and charging starts. No apps or cards needed. So far, that hasn’t worked for me though and I’ve needed the app every time to start the session. More software issues I suspect.
@@EVOpinion yeah, those also just start applying while you’re driving which is a little disconcerting. It is hit and miss whether they’ll fix things or break them 😞
😂 I know. I knew it wouldn’t take long for someone to pull me up. The founder of Porsche is pronounced Porscha and that’s the way we shoulda at it but my whole life we ha e all pronounced it Porsh. I didn’t realise how many times I slipped back into it until it came to editing😬
Thanks Ryan. I've never understood how people can enthuse about Porsche cars. They still look ugly, and deserve the epithet Squashed Frog™. Yes they perform quite well, and certainly have quality to their builds, but that still doesn't make them look good. Keeping the name 'Turbo' on an EV is just silly, and smacks of laziness on the part of the manufacturers. At best, it simply highlights the fact that 'Turbo' is a meaningless marketing term for them, and a source of embarrassment for anyone who buys that model of EV.

Hard to go back to the leaf after a day with the Taycan. Great video,
Looks amazing especially the back hope BMW are watching!!!! cool car!
BMW will be watching............
Because you'll be in front of them!

Great review, your enthusiasm and knowledge really showed
Thank you. It really didn’t take much to get enthusiastic about this car 😁
Definitely worth doing video of what secondhand EV can you buy for 10% of a Taycan Turbo list price.
If I won the Euromillions Lotto, I'd buy you that car! You obviously love it, and what's not to love its FAB!
I’ll hold you to that 😁
@@EVOpinion just the small matter of winning the Euromillions now!

So you edited out the part where you got back into the Leaf and sobbed :)
😂 It was a silent sob 🥲
Nice review 👍, what camera are you using these days, still insta360 or the Canon? Image quality is great.
I generally use the Canon outside, GoPro inside the car and the Insta360 ONEX for the panning shots in the car.
You liked it then? :) great video chap. Bet you can’t stop smiling
😁😁😁😁😁😁😬😁
Great video
My only criticism is it is a big car. Verging on too big IMO.

I later found out that the latest over the air update hadn’t worked. It had stopped several of the components from working properly like the clock!!

Nice one 👍👍⚡️⚡️⚡️
Lucky it didn't burn to a smudge as they've been known to do.
Have you stopped making videos? Probably a stupid question as not seen one from you for a while…
If I had the money, I would honestly have to think about this or a Tesla...
PLEASE STOP talking about 200 miles as a serious range the MODEL S is now up to 400 miles.
I don’t think I did? This is a 200-250 mile car. I didn’t say it was good or bad. Just facts. You are right. The S goes much further👍
LMFAO.
Great review Ryan and great car.
Why can't no one say Porsche in a right way? :( It's not a Porsch, it's a PorschE! I like your videos, but it's very frustrating to hear.
