I was in London in about 80 or 81, and there was Adam and the Ants on the TV, probably top of the pops, He was doing a tune ( I cannot recall which one) and I was so mesmorized by it, there were 2 or 3 female cheerleaders "ant cheerleaders" in with the band and the whole spectacle was just amazing. I was in Kensington at the time, and immediately ran to the nearest local record shop to buy his new album... God those were days that were so special
Well, I'm standing here looking at you What do I see? I'm looking straight through It's so sad when you're young To be told you're having fun So unplug the jukebox and do us all a favor That music's lost its taste so try another flavor Antmusic, antmusic, antmusic, antmusic Well, I'm standing here, what do I see? Act5 many musicians and bands would on purpose make this look obviously lip-synced or else they wouldn't during performance at all. That was their way of protesting against what top of the pops always did. For example the watch Nirvana top of the pops.
Watching Top of the Pops as a kid and a teenager in the 70s and 80s was always great because we were ignorant to the fact that anyone mimed! It was all we had in the uk! We didn't have MTV! I recently watched a documentary about Top of the Pops, and the show insisted that ALL artists mimed! Most artists hated it!!
Glorious, glamourous, creative and catchy.
nobody ever did or ever will do double drums like these guys. unbeatable.
He became a superstar after this performance....BRILLIANT...
I believe the Glitter band did it first, to great effect.

Too bad it's not live
i love adam ant but lets not pretend this was even close to live lol. its really kind of offensive how badly this was acted.
It was Top Of The Pops, almost every single performance in it's entire history was mimed.

Two sets of drums for a song! Wow:-)🥁⚡️🎸🌟
Glitterband!
Er wrong. The Glitter Band did very rudimentary Double Drums. But I do agree that Adam with his Ants did it louder and better.
