@@TheSeventhForceI think another reference you missed is Phoenix’s win quote against C. Viper where he talks about his kid. I think he’s either referring to his daughter Trucy Wright or his protégé Apollo Justice. Or probably he sees Maya as another big kid lol

So yeah, your ass chose the worst examples and got mad over it like a child and smash isnt a fighting game period. Stick to your handhold junk delusional smash player and leave real fighting games to the adults
Fun Fact: Ryuichi Sakamoto also compose a couple movies such as: The Revenant (2015) The Last Emperor (1987) Snake Eyes (1996) After Yang (2021) Monster (2023)
Fun Fact: Villager was actually original planned to be in Super Smash Bros Brawl but was cut due to Animal Crossing characters not being suited for battle.
a missed point: phoenix's win quote against C.viper might be referencing his own adopted daughter, trucy. or he could just be calling maya a big kid. :D
I'm pretty sure he's talking about Maya. In the win quote, he says he's worried about dumping his money feeding someone's hamburger addiction which is definitely Maya's biggest fixation. Not only does Trucy not have the obsession with burgers that Maya does, she was the breadwinner of the pair for many years. If anything, she might have had to worry about Phoenix buying more grape juice than he needs.
Phoenix Wright brought got so many new people interested in Marvel vs Capcom. He certainly did for me! Partially because of how relatively popular Ace Attorney was on the internet when I was just discovering it, I actually got into the series around age 7 or 8, though I really didn't understand much. I remember being 11 years old and getting SO excited after the Ultimate newcomers were leaked, though I wasn't getting an XBox or PS3 to play the game on any time soon. That year on the exact day of my 12th birthday, his trailer was released. Phoenix Wright still stands as one of the best designed fighting game characters of all time. The way that his original series and personality are incorporated so deeply into his moveset is Smash Bros levels of creativity. To be able to play a character that well made truly is like an actor bringing a character to life in a film or play, as you contribute to them and they contribute back. It's a strength that fighting games capture more than any other kind of video game.
As someone who's also one of those crazy Ace Attorney fans, I am constantly in awe of how much justice (lol) this game does Phoenix. The whole fact that he's more or less playing a totally different game than his opponents for most of the match is so on-brand, too. Also, I did chuckle at the fact that you had Jean Gray Phoenix as his practice opponent I'm so happy we're getting physical releases of the later series games, and I'm still sort of in shock we got Great Ace Attorney. This also starts the crossover tradition of being really vague about whether anything after Trials and Tribulations actually happened
@@TheSeventhForce I'm pretty sure everything uses the original trilogy designs, but Phoenix seems to mention Trucy off-hand in UMvC3 and, while I need to play it again to check, I could have swore he references something from the later games in Project X Zone 2 as well
Phoenix Wright really is just a masterclass in adaptation. I'm still baffled with how well they've managed to not only implement him as a character but also recreate the exact game feel the Ace Attorney games had. Honestly the best fighting game adaptation in any fighting game considering he comes from a series where all you could do is read and press buttons
One thing; there’s a difference between the face plants. The heavy one has Maya hit faster which means you use it for otg combos more. But she also takes much longer to run off screen so without THC you can’t call her back for longer.
I was already hooked for the Vs. series analysis, but from a fellow Ace Attorney fan? I'm gonna like it here! 47:29 "Maybe in a collection some day" Boy, do I have news for you!
I like to think if Miles Edgeworth was in a fighting game he'd be sorta the inverse of Phoenix. Where Phoenix needs time and safety to set up his win condition, Miles would need to get in the opponent's face, play mindgames and make reads. Perhaps his equivalent to collecting evidence would be a counter move that gives him a resource when triggered by an enemy attack?
Just seeing such a goofy yet iconic character in a game like this just makes me smile, especially when you stop to realize the absolute reference dump Phoenix is. EDIT: Here's some extra references I caught while playing UMVC3 - Phoenix's Neutral Heavy in Investigation Mode refers to his "In Despair" sprite during trials. - The Steel Samurai can be one of the random items Hsien-Ko can drop during her opening animation. - Phoenix's neutral stances in all three modes are also reminiscent of sprites during trial. - When I first saw Maya's alt-costume, I thought it was based on Ema Skye, in which the AA and UMVC3 wiki supported. Never thought of Iris though, but looking at it now, it absolutely works. Being an Ace Attorney fan is great :)
You asked if any fighting game let you be so granular with voice settings before this; in fact, Super Street Fighter IV also let you individually set Japanese and English voices. Street Fighters 5 and 6 continued that tradition since
Not a fighting game example, but I do remember some localization weirdness being accounted for in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness on PS2. As an overall bit of trivia for the franchise, Trevor Belmont is known as Ralph Belmont/Belmond in the original JP scripts, so when it came to producing the voice lines for Curse of Darkness, western releases had the JP dub rerecord any mentions of "Ralph" to "Trevor". Anybody who knows more about this, feel free to correct or elaborate.
I love how Phoenix Wright has more health than Sentinel, a literal anti-mutant mech. i know it's because of a nerf to balance out Sentinel in the transition from vanilla to Ultimate, but it does make sense with how comically resilient Phoenix is for a human with no physical powers He gets shot at, receives blunt force trauma harder than the one that killed his mentor and only receives mild temporary amnesia, is whipped directly with a bullwhip from Franziska, and falls several stories off a cliff into a rocky river that is directly stated to have killed three other people and gets away with *at most* a mild cold. The only other "normal ass human (with no Real Combat Training or Experience)" character with a higher healthpool than Phoenix Wright is Frank West (being in Afghanistan as a reporter Covering Wars does not give Frank combat training).
You wasn’t lying, you went all out on this episode. Shame editing issues caused some visual bugs. Seeing Phoenix in this game makes me smile ear to ear, as an Ace Attorney fan I have him to thank for getting me into traditional fighters, even if the one he’s in wasn’t the one I stuck with. But I’ll be there if he ever returns for another Capcom crossover.
@@TheSeventhForce I picked up Guilty Gear Strive cause it looked cool and have since messed around with most new fighters that's come out like KoFXV and SF6. I'm really liking GranBlue at the moment, the free demo with the rotating roster is a genius choice, lets my other friends try it out with me.
Phoenix has always been my favorite fighting game character since I first saw him, and I'm not even a huge Ace Attorney fan, I simply think he's a genuine marvel of how to faithfully implement an unorthodox character, and with so much love and attention for the source material character, all while making him super unique.
SSFIV predates MVC3 and has in-game VA customization, you can select between english & japanese VA for each individual characters iirc(either that or i'm thinking about SF x Tekken for the individual character VA thing, but SSFIV definitely has in game JP-Eng voice toggle)
I hope that if marvel vs capcom 4 ( or just a capcom all stars ) gets real phoenix isnt the only AA rep in there, i could easily see apollo and edgeworth getting added. Or instead franziska and blackquill could be some non conventional choices but a more various moveset potential .
Despite me never touching an Ace Attorney in my life. I’ll admit, this might be my favorite video so far. I’m just a sucker for breakdown videos where a person’s adoration for the given topic leaks into the content itself.
I felt very similarly when Wright was announced for Marvel. Ace Attorney really helped me cope with stuff as a teenager, and when he was announced for MVC I remember being in college, downloading the trailer, and just watching it on repeat and looking for as many details as I could. That was what really got me into fighting games, glad I'm not alone in the feeling :)
This was an amazing video - I'm a huge AA fan but know little about fighting games, but this was fairly easy to understand/follow Also for non-AA fans wondering about the photo at 28:08 (Huge spoilers for TGAA 2, obviously): The body of that case's victim is in the trunk
Thanks! I tried to make it easy to follow for both fighting game fans that haven't played AA or AA fans that aren't into fighting games, so I'm glad to hear it's mostly doing it's job! And yeah, haunting stuff, that photo. First time in a while the series made my jaw drop when I pieced it together.
UA-cam is messing up when it comes to notifications. I have you on the bell and didn't get notified you made this. I honestly wish Phoenix returned for Infinite, but hopefully for next game.
26:32-26:37 "The icon itself is the same one used in Ace Attorney for evidence such as *autopsy reports."* Phoenix: "SEVENTH, *NOOOOO!!"* *Cut to Edgeworth kicking down a door and entering the fray while AAI Arranged Pursuit theme starts playing* I've always wanted to get into the Ace Attorney franchise due to the memes and Countdown artists, and Phoenix getting into MvC3 rose that desire up even further! Now as of typing this, I have: 1. Ace Attorney Trilogy on Switch. 2. The Apollo Trilogy on 3DS and got the DLC just before they closed the eShop. 3. Ace Attorney Investigations on Switch physically. (And the 1st AA game I'm currently playing!) 4. Earlier today, I ordered The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles physically from GameStop. So that's coming soon. In short, it's a *GREAT* time to get into Ace Attorney now.
Hakushon Daimaō from the Japanese version of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is also somewhat of an inspiration for Phoenix Wright since he is also a incidental fighter.
Norimaro to Ryuji Naruhodo Norimaro was since Marvel vs Street Fighter (Was Test Character from TV Asahi in 1997) However Ryuji Naruhodo aka Phoenix Wright becoming of Ultimo Marvel vs Capcom 3
I know this is unrelated to Ace Attorney but Project X Zone 2 was actually my exposure to the Yakuza series but sadly I didn’t get into the series sooner because of it’s niche appeal and even in 2017 when Yakuza 0 and the series was becoming popular I still didn’t get into series. It wasn’t until 2018 when I encountered an old video called SEGA All Stars Warzone which was a concept video for what a SEGA Smash Bros would look like and around the middle of the video I saw Kazuma from Yakuza and then it hit me that was Kiryu from the Yakuza series and after seeing that video it peaked my interest in trying out the Yakuza series so I started with Yakuza 6 and since then it’s became one of my favorite game series of all time.
Yeah, Farewell, My Turnabout is incredible and depending on my mood sometimes, I find myself even liking it more than Bridge. The urgency in that case and how it turns all of the series conventions on its head is unmatched.
Man, the *ONLY* reason I bought MvC3 was to play as Phoenix Wright since I love the Ace Attorney series so much. To this day, he’s still one of my favorite characters to play as in a fighting game ever. Thank you for uploading this. Brought a smile to my face.
My birthday is January 20th ace attorney trilogy 2(calling the Apollo justice trilogy that became the actual name is a mouthful) releases on January 25

The Wii version of the game was the very best for interacting with the game, cause you had to swing the wii mote to shout out an objection, and the speaker on the controller made the sound effect
Not to be a prude, but for future reference, Hsien-Ko’s name is pronounced “syen-ko,” not “shen-ko.” I don’t entirely blame you for not knowing, though, as the only English-speaking piece of media to ever get her name right was the dub of the 4-Episode Darkstalkers OVA.
I had a vague idea of the series growing up but never played it yet. Then I saw PW added to a fighting game and got into said fighting game then too. Afterwards is when I finally dabbled into the series proper and boy has it been a huge part of my life. Here's to AA7 and/or Phoenix's next collab game inclusion!
Hakushon Daimaou 'The Genie' from the japanese version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom (.. And only character that was cut overseas) has a lot of attacks that are very similar to Norimaro and Phoenix Wright. Ryota Niitsuma (director of Tatsunoko vs Capcom and MvC3) said that Hakushon was intended to be a character that doesn't fight directly to the oponent (he is also the oldest character in the game since his anime debut in the 60's) oddly enough the lawyers of Koei Tecmo were better at least in that time compared with Capcom's about copyright due that they were able to get Tatsunoko skins in Dead or Alive 5 and one of them is Hakushon Daimaou (what a world XD) . His launcher is a strong Sneeze and has an attacks where he slips over the floor (and he is the only small character from the Tatsunoko side that is able to perform a Snapback) amoung other attacks. Regarding Phoenix, the attention to detail that was applied to the character is like Mr. Sakurai's (Smash Bros.) levels of care. The japanese voice actor of Phoenix is the same of Little Mac in smash bros
I don't know how I forgot Daimaou! He's a perfect example of that kind of archetype. And yeah, Smash is just about the biggest comparison I can think of in terms of every aspect of the character being painstakingly detailed. He's really a labor of love from the development team. (Also, I believe Alex also has a snapback in TvC!)

Only found your channel now, but as a big vs enjoyer your videos have been incredibly enjoyable, but in this one in particular you can feel that you have a lot of passion towards Ace Attorney. Incredible work! Keep up the good stuff
The treatment that Phoenix Wright got for this game is I think why I largely prefer MvC3 over 2. That's not to say I don't love MvC2 or that I mained Phoenix Wright. What I mean is the love and attention to detail that they gave to him is something that they gave to the game overall. Sure, the roster was smaller, but the playstyles were more varied. Add in the unique art style, the deep cut references, and the what-if interactions between characters including ones that weren't even playable, and, to me, you've got a game with so much appreciation for fans on both sides that it makes MvC2 look like character ideas being thrown onto a wall and seeing what sticks.
What an awesome video! as an Ace Attorney fan myself and a fighting game fan I really appreciate the thought and care that you put into this video! there are many details I haven't noticed before! and man you really know the Ace Attorney series, that picture from chronicles yeah chilling! and I'm waiting for a collection of the Edgeworth Investigations series too, I hope the Apollo collection sells well so they think about it! I can't buy it right now but I'll do it later cause Capcom usually throws these games to test the market, sadly Onimusha adn Darkstalkers didn't meet their expectations and they haven't got new releases.
I just noticed that when Phoenix eats meat it plays the healing sound effect from Monster Hunter. Capcom really likes to reuse effects from their sound library.
Imagine adding Miles Edgeworth as a clone character. Starts out strong with very good options, but begins to struggle the less teammates he has and current match standing. I think Tatsunoko vs Capcom also considered Franziska utilising her whip.
Well I would definitely have not have guessed Nick would've been the next character based on that community post, but it does make sense when you think about it, and oh man, I love this guy, he's just so unique that the only other fighting game character I can somewhat compare him to is Doctor Bosconovitch from Tekken 3, both are stance fighters, (One having WAY more than the other) both are joke characters, and both take more than the average time to master than most of the cast from their games, the difference being is that Dr. b is more of a standard joke character, and is not really an accidental fighter, (As his style is described as "Panic Fighting" or "Various" as far as I've heard) and Phoenix is an absolutely phenomenal adaptation of a character who doesn't fight. As for my experience with the series, I saw a let's play of the first trilogy after knowing about Nick in this game, and after that wanting to play the games for myself, and after the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles came out, I got it for the switch and f*&$ ing loved it, I have also pre-ordered the switch version of the Apollo trilogy so that should tell you all you need to know. On the topic of how much I like to play him, I do like to, but he's definitely not on my main team anymore, (I'm way too smooth-brained to play him somewhat well) but I still love to bring him out on occasion, and I still love how he was designed. And I would like to take this moment to shout out some cool people in the AA YT community, Kaempfdog, (For doing some pretty good video's in general, not a lot, but good one's a ranking of all of the series cases, (Aside from the PLvsPW and TGAA ones) a worst characters countdown, and a defense of the Dark Age of the Law plotline in the second trilogy) Mornal (For having the best take on the ladder vs stepladder debate, (although considering that video has almost 90K views now you've probably already seen it) as well as a decent amount of animations and voice acting videos) and a guy named FeliciaFan for having what is probably the best Phoenix Wright smash moveset I've seen. (And really good smash moveset concepts in general)
Phoenix showing up in this was such a huge deal, especially after learning he was cut out of TvC! So the only other game I could think of as "customization Eng/JP voices" as an option at THAT point would be fellow Capcom Fighter Street Fighter IV.
@@TheSeventhForce I just thought it would be cool idea for a future series though a couple of characters might be difficult to make an episode on since some of their move sets are completely original to Smash Bros.
50:20 I always thought Maya's costume here was based off of Ema, not Iris. Iris's kimono is bright magenta pink while ema wears blue. Also, Maya's Magatama is colored closer to the pink used for Ema's glasses than it is to Iris's pendant. Even the beads around it are a yellowish color which don't match Iris's at all, but line up pretty well with Ema's pins. Aside from all that its kind of weird that there wasn't a Apollo Justice/Trucy color for Phoenix and Maya. It would of looked snazzy and I would of rather had it than the Larry color. Although thinking about, they probably just thought that there were too many red colors for Phoenix already and if they had to chose between referencing Apollo or Ghost Trick, they'd rather reward the bigger Shu Takumi Fan.
You know, I never actually realized until now (doesn't help there's no way to view her and Missile's models in the Gallery), but I'm just now realizing her hair color in that costume is dark brown instead of black like I've always thought which means yeah, that's AA1 Ema. Dammit, I definitely got that one wrong, thanks. The white robes made me think it was the Hazukura Temple outfit Iris and Bikini have at the beginning of 3-5. Edit: Edited that part of the video out, don't want to spread misinformation!
Oh yeah I forgot to say it, but this video is your best one so far. I only got into Capcom and the Vs fighters because Phoenix was in UMVC3. The fan service is amazing on Phoenix, the only part I find lacking is his interactions with the majority of the cast. He has very few unique lines of dialogue despite the entire Marvel 3 cast having a lot to say about him. I always find Ghost Rider's Interaction him awkward because Phoenix gets threatened with the burning pits of HELL and he comes back with the most generic "The law is on my side" quote. I think its down to the fact his intro animation is the Ace Attorney point, so everything he says has to be confident. It made it so you never get any of his patented sarcasm or disbelief of how ridiculous his opponent is. That's all just nitpicking though. I'm asking for extra sprinkles on already perfect adaption of a character. Also, thank you for taking the time to read my fucking Ted Talk script.
If your looking for another good Capcom hidden gem I highly recommend you check out Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure on the Wii because it’s a really fun puzzle game and one of the most underrated games on the Wii platform. Unfortunately like most attempts of Capcom creating a new IP the game sold poorly and Capcom cancelled plans for a potential sequel which sucks but if a hypothetical MVC 4 does happen I would love to see Zack & Wiki on the roster.
I won't lie I was kind of disappointed that Phoenix Wright didn't return in Infinite because he while he's not the strongest character in the series he so much personality and something kind of funny seeing superheroes and Villans getting completely destroyed by a normal attorney who sneezes, trips on banana peels and attacks you with paper and evidence.
Late but Phoenix finding meat as evidence is most likely a reference to the Final Fight games where you can find them in barrels and creates as health items
The first game I experienced that let's you customize voice settings per character is Street Fighter 4. I'm not sure which came first between that and MvC3.

and smash isnt a fighting game period. Stick to your handhold junk delusional smash player and leave real fighting games to the adults
Also Captain Falcon
Fun Fact: Ryuichi Sakamoto also compose a couple movies such as:
The Revenant (2015)
The Last Emperor (1987)
Snake Eyes (1996)
After Yang (2021)
Monster (2023)
Smash Bros has a bunch of incidental fighters. The ones I can immediately think of are Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Isabella.
I thought he was referring to Apollo Justice who is Phoenix’s protégé
Also, I did chuckle at the fact that you had Jean Gray Phoenix as his practice opponent
I'm so happy we're getting physical releases of the later series games, and I'm still sort of in shock we got Great Ace Attorney.
This also starts the crossover tradition of being really vague about whether anything after Trials and Tribulations actually happened
Has there been any Ace Attorney crossover that's used anything post AA3? I think even Teppen just uses the original trilogy design,
@@TheSeventhForce I'm pretty sure everything uses the original trilogy designs, but Phoenix seems to mention Trucy off-hand in UMvC3 and, while I need to play it again to check, I could have swore he references something from the later games in Project X Zone 2 as well
Phoenix Wright really is just a masterclass in adaptation.
Wake up babe, new Capcom vs Legacy just dropped
I was already hooked for the Vs. series analysis, but from a fellow Ace Attorney fan? I'm gonna like it here!
47:29 "Maybe in a collection some day"
Boy, do I have news for you!
Ha, glad I called it!
Oh the deliciousness of hindsight/dramatic irony right here!
*He says as he has AAI Collections as his 1st Ace Attorney game he's currently playing*
EDIT: Here's some extra references I caught while playing UMVC3
- Phoenix's Neutral Heavy in Investigation Mode refers to his "In Despair" sprite during trials.
Huh, I'm a fairly big CV fan but wasn't aware of Curse of Darkness doing that. Interesting!
I love how Phoenix Wright has more health than Sentinel, a literal anti-mutant mech. i know it's because of a nerf to balance out Sentinel in the transition from vanilla to Ultimate, but it does make sense with how comically resilient Phoenix is for a human with no physical powers
He gets shot at, receives blunt force trauma harder than the one that killed his mentor and only receives mild temporary amnesia, is whipped directly with a bullwhip from Franziska, and falls several stories off a cliff into a rocky river that is directly stated to have killed three other people and gets away with *at most* a mild cold.
It's cool that this got you into traditional fighters! What games did you end up gravitating to in the end?
Ace Attorney Investigations 2 is now being localised by being remade alongside with the first game
Yep! I'm glad they're finally pulling the trigger.
I hope that if marvel vs capcom 4 ( or just a capcom all stars ) gets real phoenix isnt the only AA rep in there, i could easily see apollo and edgeworth getting added. Or instead franziska and blackquill could be some non conventional choices but a more various moveset potential .
Blackquill having Yamazaki-esque slashing attacks and being able to use Taka like Nakoruru uses hers in SamSho would be sick
Or even Steel Samurai
Despite me never touching an Ace Attorney in my life. I’ll admit, this might be my favorite video so far.
I’m just a sucker for breakdown videos where a person’s adoration for the given topic leaks into the content itself.
I wish Phoenix was in more Vs. Games.
Does Teppen count
I'd settle for one more Vs game in general at this point tbh
@@TheSeventhForceTrue that.
For those wondering, Galactus was provoked into attacking the earth. This is how Phoenix got him a Not Guilty verdict
I think people who never played the Phoenix Wright series are thinking now Phoenix eat all the food from the crime scenes. 😅
After all these years i didnt know hold it built stun on block, thats changing my entire game plan
This was an amazing video - I'm a huge AA fan but know little about fighting games, but this was fairly easy to understand/follow
Also for non-AA fans wondering about the photo at 28:08 (Huge spoilers for TGAA 2, obviously):
The body of that case's victim is in the trunk
Honestly, the bell only works half the time for me. UA-cam is weird.
@@TheSeventhForce it really has gotten worse and worse
Steel Samurai would be a neat replacement for Silver Samurai actually
The time you take to point out everything in these vids is why you're the Goat and continue up and coming
26:32-26:37
"The icon itself is the same one used in Ace Attorney for evidence such as *autopsy reports."*
Phoenix: "SEVENTH, *NOOOOO!!"*
*Cut to Edgeworth kicking down a door and entering the fray while AAI Arranged Pursuit theme starts playing*
I've always wanted to get into the Ace Attorney franchise due to the memes and Countdown artists, and Phoenix getting into MvC3 rose that desire up even further! Now as of typing this, I have:
1. Ace Attorney Trilogy on Switch.
2. The Apollo Trilogy on 3DS and got the DLC just before they closed the eShop.
3. Ace Attorney Investigations on Switch physically. (And the 1st AA game I'm currently playing!)
Norimaro to Ryuji Naruhodo
Norimaro was since Marvel vs Street Fighter
(Was Test Character from TV Asahi in 1997)
However Ryuji Naruhodo aka Phoenix Wright becoming of Ultimo Marvel vs Capcom 3
My favorite case is the final one from the second game, but to be fair, most of the final cases are worthy contenders for "best case in the series".
Yeah, Farewell, My Turnabout is incredible and depending on my mood sometimes, I find myself even liking it more than Bridge. The urgency in that case and how it turns all of the series conventions on its head is unmatched.
Definition of: low tier character until they get enough power to become a high tier character
Man, the *ONLY* reason I bought MvC3 was to play as Phoenix Wright since I love the Ace Attorney series so much. To this day, he’s still one of my favorite characters to play as in a fighting game ever.
Thank you for uploading this. Brought a smile to my face.
Oh by the way the Apollo justice trilogy releases 5 days after my birthday
My birthday is January 20th ace attorney trilogy 2(calling the Apollo justice trilogy that became the actual name is a mouthful) releases on January 25
🎉 Happy birthday 🎂

When I first saw this guy my thought was……”Who the Hell is this?!” To be fair, I said the same thing about Rocket Raccoon.
I think a lot of people not familiar with the series did. 😆
This video was phenomenal. Phoenix Wright stands as one of the greatest Fighting Game implementations of all time, and just adds to my love of Marvel 3
Hey i wanted to thank you for making me being interested on the ace attorney series, I played the first game the same day as this video came out and I finished it today, and man, it's one of the best game I'd ever played and im lookng forward the other games in the series. Tysm seventhforce ❤
Video so good it got me into Ace Attorney
The Wii version of the game was the very best for interacting with the game, cause you had to swing the wii mote to shout out an objection, and the speaker on the controller made the sound effect
Not to be a prude, but for future reference, Hsien-Ko’s name is pronounced “syen-ko,” not “shen-ko.” I don’t entirely blame you for not knowing, though, as the only English-speaking piece of media to ever get her name right was the dub of the 4-Episode Darkstalkers OVA.
Corrections are always welcome! But yeah, I went with the MvC3 pronunciation because I couldn't figure out the generally agreed upon pronunciation.

There are a lot of characters between TvC and MvC3 that share moveset and animations.
Other fighter that come to my mind are:
Polymar --> Iron Fist
Ken the Eagle --> Captain America
Ippatsuman --> Nova
Karas/Kaijin no Soki --> Vergil
Jun the Swan/Yatterman 2 --> Phoenix (Jean Grey)
I want to share with with you info that I know from TVC and Tatsunoko.
Ippatsuman in TVC has a special attack that is not mentioned in the command list. If you input ➡️⬇️↘️ +Attack meanwhile you are running (dashing) Ippatsuman is going to move and attack diagonally. Usually this move goes up if you are quiet.
You mentioned in the video how different could be the names of characters between versions (Japan and overseas). The japanese version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All-Stars (Not Cross Generation of Heroes, Ultimate All-Stars in japanese, the english version re-localized for Japan) the voice call for the characters of the announcer are different for some characters:
Ken the Eagle - - > Ken (even though in japanese has his full name written, Washio no Ken, 大鷲の健 )
Jun the Swan - - > Jun (even though in japanese has her full name written, Shiratori no Jun, 白鳥のジュン )
Joe the Condor - - > Joe (even though in japanese has his full name written, Kondoru no Joo, コンドルのジョー )
Megaman Volnutt - - > Rock Volnutt (ロック・ヴォルナット, the japanese name of Megaman is Rock/Rock-Man)
Yatterman No. 1 - - > Yatterman Ichigo (ヤッタマン1号)
Yatterman No. 2 - - > Yatterman Nigo (ヤッタマン2号)
Even thought in japanese the pronunciation of the character/anime is Yattaman it has the english pronunciation.

Katsuji Mori is the japanese voice actor of Ken the Eagle and Tekkaman in TVC (and their animes). He was the voice actor of Go Mifune the main protagonist of Mach GoGoGo/Speed Racer and J. J. Robinson in the Gatchaman spin-off: Gatchaman Crowds.
Tooru Oohira the japanese voice of Hakushon Daimaou was also the japanese voice actor of Homer Simpson, Fred Flinstone, Pete (Mickey Mouse/Kingdom Hearts), Waternoose (Monsters Inc), Darth Vader (Star Wars/ Soul Calibur 4), etc . Pd: in the Yatterman 2008 remake, all the openings songs were covers from the original 70's opening but the opening number 7 was more special because it was the original song from the 70's as a tribute to the original singer and it was used in the last episode of the anime.
Masayuki Yamamoto also sang the Ippatsuman opening.
From all the covers in Yatterman (2008) I prefer the opening 6:

Masayuki Yamamoto, Ken Fujii and Tosshu were usually the singers for most of the Time Boukan series. Time Boukan includes the animes Ippatsuman, Yatterman, Otasukeman, Yattodetaman, Zenderman, Itadakiman, etc. All of them share in having 2 protagonist (male and female), a mascot, a main Mecha and the trio of bad guys (lidered by the female member).

Great video, this unlocked so many memories Playing the triogy on the Ds
Only found your channel now, but as a big vs enjoyer your videos have been incredibly enjoyable, but in this one in particular you can feel that you have a lot of passion towards Ace Attorney. Incredible work! Keep up the good stuff
Thank you!
The amount of work they put into this character and game is why umvc3 is my favorite fighting game of all time
This is a damn amazing video.
As a huge Ace Attorney fan since the DS days, love to see someone so knowledgable on all the references.
Thank you!
Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I did him justice lol
Someone was really going off on this vid. Awesome!
Say it with me Objection! and Take That!
I just noticed that when Phoenix eats meat it plays the healing sound effect from Monster Hunter. Capcom really likes to reuse effects from their sound library.
28:07 Damn I really need to play this in order to get the context, I keep forgetting this exists and localized
Imagine adding Miles Edgeworth as a clone character. Starts out strong with very good options, but begins to struggle the less teammates he has and current match standing.
I think Tatsunoko vs Capcom also considered Franziska utilising her whip.
You did our boy justice. Good video.
"Please take a look!"
"YES!"
My boi Nick. And wow an hour for ONE FG appearance, goes to show the care that went into him
I actually had to cut some stuff out for pacing! It clocked in at about an hour and two minutes before
Well I would definitely have not have guessed Nick would've been the next character based on that community post, but it does make sense when you think about it, and oh man, I love this guy, he's just so unique that the only other fighting game character I can somewhat compare him to is Doctor Bosconovitch from Tekken 3, both are stance fighters, (One having WAY more than the other) both are joke characters, and both take more than the average time to master than most of the cast from their games, the difference being is that Dr. b is more of a standard joke character, and is not really an accidental fighter, (As his style is described as "Panic Fighting" or "Various" as far as I've heard) and Phoenix is an absolutely phenomenal adaptation of a character who doesn't fight.
Yeah, I've seen Kaempfdog's stuff, particularly their case ranking videos. They're pretty great.
Phoenix showing up in this was such a huge deal, especially after learning he was cut out of TvC!
So the only other game I could think of as "customization Eng/JP voices" as an option at THAT point would be fellow Capcom Fighter Street Fighter IV.
Yep, seems like SF4 definitely did it first.
I like to think that Wii Fit Trainer in SSB is also a incidental fighter.
Definitely counts, yeah.
@@TheSeventhForce Speaking of SSB do you have plans in the future to do a Smash Bros Legacy series after your done with Capcom Vs. Legacy?
It's something I've thought about, but I haven't made any concrete decisions on it yet.
@@TheSeventhForce I just thought it would be cool idea for a future series though a couple of characters might be difficult to make an episode on since some of their move sets are completely original to Smash Bros.

Thanks, glad you think so!
Good work on this one, you did do him justice 🫡
42:56 This aged like fine wine
@@TheSeventhForce Glad to be of service and as one Ace Attorney fan to another. Excellent video!
@@jpkaokthesilverspooner975 Thanks!
Apollo would have been too close to the Edgeworth color imo
another very well researched and put together vid. Also loving how personal it is. -- A.T.
He kind of like DanPierre from Soul Calibur V, albeit, the PERFECT incidental fighter. Almost the personification of it!
Sf4 and sfxt also has alternative language options iirc
That's right! I forgot vanilla SF4 had it. I think they had to be unlocked there, if I'm remembering right...?
@TheSeventhForce I think so but I'm not sure
It's been so long
lol. The video is longer than Phoenix’s appearance in the Vs Series
It's wild that the narrator can pronounce Phoenix's Japanese name flawlessly, but hitches "Demon Village Redux" and "Bonne Wonderland".
Late but Phoenix finding meat as evidence is most likely a reference to the Final Fight games where you can find them in barrels and creates as health items
I didn't think about that, but I think you're absolutely right!
Also the sound used when the meat is consumed is from monster Hunter, the same sound when a portion is consumed
@@SuperLCHINO ah, probably that too.
Great video! I’ll definitely check out Ace Attorney now!
I sincerely hope you enjoy it!
Dope video! I'm a big fan of your videos! Also, when are you doing a video on my dude Ghost Rider aka Johnny Blaze?
Sooner rather than later is all I can say!
Hey you finally did it awesome!
Another awesome one!
I think the bad evidence glasses are meant to be those of the Paynes
Ooooh, I didn't think of that, that's a good call!
The first game I experienced that let's you customize voice settings per character is Street Fighter 4. I'm not sure which came first between that and MvC3.
Love your videos!
Objection do your job
8:14 how could you not mention he voiced Phoenix in ace attorney 5 and 6?
I definitely recall having that in the script for the video, must have overlooked it during the recording/editing process. My bad;
@TheSeventhForce nah no problem you're good, also he recently recovered from cancer (sam regal) but yeah Marvel 3, then ace attorney 5 and 6 he played Phoenix
Good thing your not being trolled by the uttp
❤
A character who doesn’t return in mvci😭
the worst possibly character they could include.
I disagree but hey, to each their own!
.hack//link character analysis would be an extremely interesting idea considering its a Namco fighting game
