Nothing is more amazing than a plane taking off.Graceful, thrilling and mindblowing that something that big can get up in the air and look so beautiful doing it. Thanks from near Chicago
I've been on quite a few flights from LHR, Contenetial Airlines: London Heathrow - New York, Newark Airport & Thai Airways: London Heathrow - Bangkok. This seems to be my most used Long Haul service. Although I normally use Stanstead Airport if I ever fly out to Dublin via Ryanair.
i flew on one in 2009 from ORD to LHR. the in-flight entertainment system was crap - each channel just looped so you couldn't stop and start when you wanted. Apart from that it was virtually identical to the a340-600, and I believe Virgin have updated the a340-300 entertainment systems since then.
i used to live for a while just to the west of Heathrow when BA had 757s, I loved the sound of RB211s climbing out. Fortunately 777s still do. 6:00 and 7:15-8:15 particularly.
Great video,it looks like it was a smashing day! blue skys,no clouds, birds singing ! both the metal and feathered kind ! Where do you film these from a carpark?
Do Heathrow controllers keep 9R/27L for departures and 9L/27R for landings and vice versa(depending on wind) or do they use both runways for departures and arrivals?
@Neil3N 27L is used all year round for landings. Normally, they swap landings from 27 R to 27L or the other way around. This happens at about 15:00. Plz check otu my channel!!
Hi there, have you tried out "Reveal Travel Deal" (google it)? I have stumbled upon quite a few incredibly cheap hotels as well as flights. This can help you to save on your future vacation too.
The 747 on the last clip is terrible! If all 6 thai airways 747's are the same build, i feel bad. I went on a 12 hour flight straight from heathrow to bangkok on a thai 747. No TV's, just a projector. Ah how I was ashamed that i couldn't survive such a flight without a screen haha!

Heathrow don't change runways on 09s only 27s. 3pm is the change over time.
The 747 remains the sub sonic queen of the skies :)
