@@Dark10128 My guess is that we wouldn’t get a sufficient quantity. I don’t think there is enough dissolved oxygen present in water to be able to inflate our lungs. You would need an insane amount of water to pass through the special mask, at a high rate of speed. Even then, we don’t breathe pure oxygen. Most of what we breathe is actually nitrogen. We don’t absorb the nitrogen, but it is there nonetheless. If we were to take a breath of pure oxygen, we’d probably start convulsing immediately. And then drown. I mean it sounds like a cool idea in theory. I like the thought behind it.

It's primarily pockets of molecular oxygen (O2) dissolved in the water. Which is called DO.

Fish extract oxygen from the oxygen gas that is dissolved in water.
They do not break down individual oxygen atoms from H₂O molecules.
