Very excited to do this route September 1st 2023 on CT 125’s! Excellent commentary and video which will be helpful in planning. Thank you all very much
Fantastic video!!! My boy is coming home from the Marines (Been two years without a visit) I am defiantly using your video as a loose guide for a couple days of quality time with him. Thanks so much for the no frills down to earth show!!
Excellent route, great you brought these two young tigers with you. So many fallen trees, definitely a chain saw for next time.. And hey hey, you dont look that old , enjoy.
Awesome narration and footage. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, perspectives, and insights. Very useful as I plan my own excursion on this BDR for next season.
Awesome report. Great choice of bikes for this BDR. Big bikes would have made it a completely different challenge. And probably turned them into junk. Thanks for the trail vids.
Hey Bill, thx for sharing and all the great tips on campgrounds. Looks like you guys had a blast. Making plans now to do it with my 18yr old this fall before he heads to bootcamp.
You make a good video Bill. You've motivated me to train, train, train, when I get my GS, so I can be prepared for some of these BDRs.....although it may be a while before I can get the the NEBDR, living here in the southwest. Looking forward to watching some of your other videos!!
Thanks Jim! We are heading out to do the CABDR in December (will try not to freeze) and then leaving the bikes in storage in Yuma for the winter so that we can do the AZBDR (your part of the world) in the spring. When would you say would be the best month to be riding off-road in Arizona? Thanks...
@@billpacheco790 I'm fairly new to Albuquerque and not familiar with Arizona or any of the BDRs, except for what I see on channels like yours. The person to ask would be Sterling Noren, who you've probably seen on UA-cam with his Motorcycle Travel Channel. ua-cam.com/users/NorenFilmsfeatured
Great Job on the Video. Planning on doing the NEBDR the last two weeks of August. We will be on big bikes. KTM 1290,Africa Twin Adventure, Super Tenere and a CB500X. Don’t know if we will have time to do it all as we are riding there from Texas and Arkansas. Looks like fun. I’m 65 on the Tenere. Wish me luck.
Jerry - It is great that you are all coming from the south. New England topography is very different from Texas/Arkansas and the NEBDR should prove to be a fun and challenging ride. If you are limited as to how much of the trail you can do, I would suggest the Vermont - Maine (northern half) as there is more off-road riding and higher elevation than the New York - Mass (southern half) of the trail. Let me know if you need any info on campgrounds, etc., or have any questions. Be safe and have fun. Old guys rule!
@@billpacheco790 We had a Great Time on the NEBDR. Only got to do the first 4 sections because of the storms. The North East is so beautiful. I’m thinking about getting a Honda CRF 300 Rally to trailer back up there sometime and do the whole route. The Super Tenere loaded with camping gear and all the stuff for two weeks on the road is a bit much at times.
Thanks Bill, another great video, please keep them coming. I am looking at getting a dirt bike to add to the super 10. All the best from across the pond.
What a video...thanks Bill! Are you a member of the NEBDR Facebook page? If not, you should join and post this video. A lot of people would be interested in your experiences on the BDR. I've ridden parts of two sections and I thought they were put together very well. I wouldn't take my Tenere either...not unless I skipped the harder sections.
Man, I'm 54 yrs old, and it's not easy picking up those bikes alone- where can I find a Sam & Shawn. lol Great video and great job getting out there and doing it. cheers
Chris sorry I do not know what liter size dry bag Sean had on his KTM. I do know that it carried his tent and sleeping bag plus some basic clothes, etc. Thanks for watching.
Both are 250L's (one is the Rally edition). Both had skid plates, bark busters and racks (needed something to strap the camping gear to). Made some further mods after this trip - watch my MABDR Dual Sport Adventure from this May where we detailed what was done to the various bikes. Thanks for watching!
Also you made mention that you used an iPhone for the gps tracks. I have downloaded the gps tracks onto Base Camp and cant figure out how to import the tracks to my iPhone. Any help would be appreciated.
You also need to download the REVR APP onto your phone. It is free for the basic service, but $40 a year for the premium. If I remember correctly, the free service worked for us on my son's IPhone.
I really enjoyed your video. Curious though....it appeared you were wearing some sort of compression type shirt with armor, with a jersey over it. Could you elaborate?
Thanks for watching! The shirt is a Moose Racing XC1 armored shirt. Very comfortable and the armor (chest, back and elbows) comes out for easy washing. Available at Revzilla for $100. I highly recommend it - when I crashed I hit the ground pretty hard directly on my chest - felt nothing and no bruises.
Hey Bill, Where did you get the free files for the GPS? Im planning to do this ride with a friend 2nd week of October. Im hoping the weather will not be to cold then.
You can get the GPS tracks right off of the NEBDR website (ridebdr.com/nebdr/). These will work if you have a GARMIN or other GPS device. If you are planning on running them on your phone, you will need an App. We used REVER (www.rever.co/). My son loaded it on his phone for free (there is also $7/mo option if you want online maps - don't need them for the NEBDR). 2nd week in October should be great foliage. May be cold at night if you are camping, but survivable. Have fun - let me know how the trip was!
Lesson Learned - Bring a chainsaw!! LOL. Wish I could do this with my boys. One is the Navy and one just graduated college and just starting his career so no adventure bikes...Yet.
It took my sons and I quite awhile to get to a place where we could start riding together again. My advice would be to keep your skills up and never stop planning. It also helps if you pay for everything HAHA.
My son rode the 2017 Honda CRF250L Rally. I rode the 2017 CRF250L. Sean rode a brand new, right out of the box, KTM 300. He had to change the oil in that bike just about every night, which made for some interesting camping experiences.
I have a ‘17 S10. Like the bike. Been thinking about getting theTenere T700 so I can do both on and off road better. I have also been thinking about getting a street legal dirt bike for the BDR’s. I am still on the fence right now. Like your videos. I am a year older and moved from Colorado to Florida. The riding is definitely different to what I am used to here.

Nicely done. Thank you. I'm planning on riding most of this route this summer.

nicely done. I'm interested in section 6 but you didn't have too much video on that leg. No harm, loved the video. Thank you.

How much extra gas did you pack bring with you on the dualsports
@@martygjr we each carried an extra gallon either in roto packs or gas bottles
Which end did you choose? It looks like Rhubarb Pond....
Ended where the trail ran out - didn't know there was a choice!
Nice video! When you say “single track” do you mean single lane?
Yes - usually a path through the woods.
