I've been a fan of Armored Core since Master of Arena on the PS1. Such a great series of games. It will be interesting to see what From Software does with it now.
I remember playing Armored Core: The Last Raven on Playstation 2. It was pretty fun, but for the life of me I was never able to complete any mission that required me to fight another AC, they were just far too mobile to hit and my boost gage was far too small to dodge the way they did. I did discover a bug tho, whenever I reset my progress, I always kept my money. So I would play the campaign, choosing only missions that did not pit me against another AC until they were the only choices, and reset until I had enough money to buy pretty much every single part, and I swear I had more fun building and customizing my Armored Cores than actually playing the game. And I don't mean that in a bad way.
It is bizarre to hear people constantly just unrepentantly dunking on AC6. Like, people have been shitting on FromSoft for years for making Dark Souls 7 times. Then Fromsoft announces something different people go '"where dark souls :(" EDIT: Not to imply this is what Dunkey is doing but damn. Sucks to be a fan of something for so long and then when you FINALLY get good news after 10+ years of radio silence, the worldwide reaction is either indifference or outright mockery.
This is how insane Dunkey's knowledge of game music is: he puts "Alone In Town" and "Heaven's Night" from Silent Hill 2 in for like 4 seconds each and it works
Well Konami’s doing what Capcom’s doing by remaking one of the greatest survival horror games of all time. I hope Silent Hill 2 Remake comes out this year
Surprised Dunkey has yet to cover Pizza Tower, was an absolute hit that came out of literally nowhere for most people. One of the best indie platformers since Celeste, easily. Hope Dunkey gives it a try.
I'm so burnt out on platformers and fps games. I'm sorry but Pizza Tower does absolutely nothing for me, and I'm old enough to know what animation style it references. In other news, nothing 2d has come close to Hollow Knight since its release (I realize Hollow Knight is a metroidvania).
pizza tower really makes you feel like a balding middle-aged single stereotypical italian small business chef up to his eyeballs in debt who was threatened by a magical pizza demon with a death ray
@@thepancakemann I totally get that man, Pizza Tower isn't a game that's trying to reinvent the recipe, it just cooks it straight, and if you're not big on that original formula, then it won't be that enjoyable of a dish.

That's great! It's also mine's as well. I remember waiting in line at my local Target store to get my copy of Breath of the Wild and a Switch console when it first launched. It was one the best days of my life! I even played BotW non-stop during that day. I'm definitely looking forward to Tears of the Kingdom!
That art book leaked made the game seem so much larger and more complex than the trailers have shown so far and it didn't even really spoil anything and honestly didn't even show a lot of things (areas, enemies, story elements).
@@grooselegacy I have a PC and Steam Deck. I have no issues purchasing the game on Steam and playing there, but a console launch exclusive with no announced plans for players on Xbox or Switch seems like a miss for their first publishing effort. Dunkey I really enjoy the videos you make, even the one with the trains. There was something so relaxing and calming about that video, kinda like watching a Bob Ross episode. 'funny birds have a sword fight with their beaks ROFL' and 'Relaxing Space Safari' are two of my favourite videos. There is an artistry behind both of them that really illuminates the thoughtfulness of all of your work and they show you aren't afraid of taking risks and doing whatever you feel like on a site where that is usually considered heresy. I love how open for interpretation they are, I always thought the former was a reference to the plot and story structure of Death Stranding. Thanks for everything you do Dunkey.
I swear for some inexplicable reason every person who plays Hollow Knight is required by some universal force to also play Celeste, and vice versa. I'm convinced the venn diagram or Hollow Knight fans and Celeste fans is just a circle.
It was heavily suggested that there would be, but we didn't know just how much Nintendo would focus marketing on the expanded creativity and player freedom.
Dunkey videos are the gold standard. So many good games I’ve played on his recommendations. I know that I’ll play at least 5 games in this vid. Always comes back to knowing what games your reviewer enjoys and responds to.
This year is insane. Jedi Survivor, Hi Fi Rush, ToTK, Hogwarts Legacy, RE4, Dead Space, Atomic Heart have already released and are bangers. We still have Spiderman 2, Alan Wake 2, Tekken 8, MK 1, Street Fighter 6, Starfield, and FF16 to go. 2023 is the best year in gaming period.
Somehow, also containing some of the worst stuff: ForSpoken Redfall Gollum Bad PC ports (Last os Us Part 1, Jedi survivor, etc) So 2023 is kinda like a Best AND Worst Year at the same time. At least, that's what it feels like to me
The best feeling in the world is saying to yourself "Dunkey hasn’t posted in a while" just to open up youtube to see him first on my recommend. Brings a tear to my eye and a wet spot in my pants.
Really all I want from tears of the kingdom is the same feeling I had playing botw, “I don’t know what I want to do or where to go but I sure as hell am not doing the main story for a long time”

So many exciting games coming out this year. Happy to be here for all of them! Armored Core is probably my most anticipated, personally. Feel like it'll be different from anything else getting made today.
@@greenbitch6432 I don't think he was talking about how varied their "soulslike" titles are but the fact they have a certain feeling modern AAA games (that I've played at least) lack. While the combat is similar in all of these games besides Sekiro, many things were changed, added or got improved. I've recently played some DS1 and the combat feels very different from ER, try it yourself. And ER was supposed to be open world DS anyways. Fans love it, there's close to 0 competition for now and between DS3 and ER there was a pause of 6 years so it's not like they release these type of games very frequently anymore. In conclusion, when it comes to "soulslikes" I don't think they really need to fundamentally change their formula unless they want to appeal to a new audience while risking alienating it's current one.
Hearing the OST's to Armored Core after just having streamed them all was awesome, the soundtrack to the originals were amazing. I hope 2023 really is the year of great games!
Let's review: - Tekken 8 was the only fighting game that dropped with a good single player (but sf6 and mk1 were both pretty fun) - FF16 had a pretty good story for final Fantasy standards but the combat was just meh - Silksong did not come out but i have a feeling they'll announce a release date any day now (it's so over) - Pikmin 4 was really really good - Zelda was disappointing in a couple aspects but it's still a Zelda game so of course it was a masterpiece - Armored core went pretty hard as well, despite being pretty not souls like - Spider man was fun but didn't include the pizza minigame so 0/10 - Resident evil 4 was indeed fantastic and silent Hill is looking like another zombie shooter - Metroid Prime was just as good as it used to be - Animal well was a very good game for it's size and production team Overall pretty good predictions and a great year for gaming
Personally I'm super excited for the full release of Baldur's Gate 3, it's looking to be the most faithful video game adaptation of a D&D system so far while also bringing in Larian's commitment to player expression and freedom
Hogwarts, legend of Zelda, FF16, Metroid Prime collection, pikman 4, street fighter 6, tekken 8, MK 12, RE 4, SH 2. I think this year as been the strongest lineup for a while! It makes me excited seeing lots of games people enjoy and love come out this year.
I’m glad he’s being positive about a lot of these games, because the amount of remakes mentioned in this video is a bit sad. I would love if we could get more new games from AAA companies
This year for gaming was already gonna be pretty crazy with the second ever strand-type game coming out, but now you're telling me the hit company big mode is making the first ever well-type game? Absolutely insane.
I've recently finished Silent Hill 2 and it's already my favourite game of all time, mainly because of the narrative, soundtrack and the atmosphere. If the Dog Ending isn't in the remake, I'll flip my shit.
I would legit be hyped AF about a Metal Wolf Chaos 2. People just don't do campy stuff like that anymore, nowadays it feels like all of that energy goes toward Borderlands/High on Life style games which are more about being zany and trippy, but without that traditional campiness.
You had me for a sec at the end there, but man I'm so stoked for Armored Core 6. FromSoft is such a top tier developer and the previous Armored Core games were incredible.
And he didn't even mention Jedi Survivor! That's a game I am greatly looking forward to. Also Octopath 2 released recently and is amazing (far better than OT1 and actually addresses a lot of the issues that players had with the first game)
Agreed on Death Stranding 2, it should lean into what makes it unique and have more interesting deliveries that force the player into different areas of the map. DS1 became just going back and forth between delivery centers while there were huge empty chunks of the map left unexplored. There's a landslide mechanic and I only had to deal with it once, most of the time I just watched rocks rolling down a mountain from affar because there was no reason to go there. Same with poison gas, there's like 1 hole with poison in it in the whole game and you can just use the sticky gun instead of going down the pit. I don't think combat should be removed though, just give us more interesting weapons/gadgets to use. The sticky gun and the bola gun are great, fun to use and extremely versitile.
When he makes these kinds of videos... No one can get me as hyped for new video game releases like this man can, and he's been doing it for years at this point. I LOVE VIDEO GAMES!
Super Smash Bros Brawl had the best singleplayer mode for a fighting game hands down. Feels like every fighting game singleplayer mode wants to be TV show for some reason.
Hades 2 is the first time I've gotten exited about a new game since 2015. Hopefully they keep the God mode, it's such a brilliant way to change difficulty and keep players motivated that everyone should take note.
I turned god mode on (cuz I was getting extremely bored of repeating levels) and I still didn’t finish the game. It’s so grindy and tedious and repetitive (and the last level is just a gimmick level), and the weapons don’t help to remedy that at all. But I respect your opinion about the game. My most hyped game this year is Spider-Man 2
Really excited for Final Fantasy 16. I know Square Enix is disappointing and all but the team behind FF14 is working on it and that gives me enough hope.
I feel like 2022 was already an amazing year for video games. Honestly it was a great year for media in general. Movies, video games, TV shows, anime, everything good dropped last year. Feels like a resurrection after COVID protocols have mostly ended.
I'm excited for a lot of the games listed in this video, but if I could add one to Dunkey's list, it'd be Alien Hominid Invasion. I played two of the demos for this game in 2020 and 2021, and it's looking more and more like AH:I could be the Behemoth's most immediate, gameplay-centric, mechnically diverse game yet, and it still has so much of the unique humor and expressive artwork that makes their games so memorable. Can't wait to play it.
Also wanna give a shout out to the upcoming ports of Ghost Trick, which was a fantastic cult classic DS title. It’s something to consider picking up when it comes out! ALSO, pizza tower is amazing
Found out about that game from Mathewmatosis I still need to get around to playing it though. Though his Rain World vid got me to buy that game which is a truly phenomenal game.

Knowing them, it'll be true to the original series with minor tweaks to bring it to the modern age.
No you haven't stop lying
Then Fromsoft announces something different people go '"where dark souls :("
EDIT: Not to imply this is what Dunkey is doing but damn. Sucks to be a fan of something for so long and then when you FINALLY get good news after 10+ years of radio silence, the worldwide reaction is either indifference or outright mockery.
@@HangmanVa Yeah I can see how that sucks. I've never heard of the AC series before but it looks pretty cool so I'll definitely be checking it out.
Very excited for pikmin 4. Haven’t played since pikmin 2, but it still holds up to me as one of the most fun and memorable games I’ve ever played!
it seems like pikmin 4 is taking more after 2 in the same way pikmin 3 took more after 1, let us hope its good, pikmin 2 brother
Pikmin 3 was decent (though I expect more from 4), works well on emulators if you wanna try it on PC
Bro you gotta play pikmin 3 that game is a blast
This is how insane Dunkey's knowledge of game music is: he puts "Alone In Town" and "Heaven's Night" from Silent Hill 2 in for like 4 seconds each and it works
Yeah the SH2 tracks always hit
Akira Yamaoka is easily the greatest AAA title ost producer ever
botw 2 is going to suck
It's genius as well
I had to praise the lord real quick when Alone in The Town started bumping
no matter how long a dunkey video is it never feels long enough
That's true, I wish all of his videos were much shorter so that I could wish that they were even longer than currently.
He says a lot with so little.

I love how when he is talking about RE4 dunkey puts a song of Silent Hill. This guy is a genius.
Reminds me of how on his best of 2020 video he had hades music over the doom eternal portion
Well Konami’s doing what Capcom’s doing by remaking one of the greatest survival horror games of all time. I hope Silent Hill 2 Remake comes out this year
@@cloudshines812 when he mentioned ds2, he had mgs2 music too. :)
That's simply cos its the GOAT of game OSTs. Any excuse, even tangential, is more than enough reason to play it.

So excited for Pikmin, my nostalgia 🥹

Surprised Dunkey has yet to cover Pizza Tower, was an absolute hit that came out of literally nowhere for most people. One of the best indie platformers since Celeste, easily. Hope Dunkey gives it a try.
*platformers, not just indie
I'm so burnt out on platformers and fps games. I'm sorry but Pizza Tower does absolutely nothing for me, and I'm old enough to know what animation style it references. In other news, nothing 2d has come close to Hollow Knight since its release (I realize Hollow Knight is a metroidvania).

Definatly getting pumped for that after Jedi Survivor and RE4 Remake!
Tears of the Kingdom is going to be amazing!
Which reminds me... still need to pre-order.

Dunkey I really enjoy the videos you make, even the one with the trains. There was something so relaxing and calming about that video, kinda like watching a Bob Ross episode. I really liked the one about the car commercial, really funny haha. I hope you keep making the type of videos you enjoy putting together, regardless of all the opinions out there.
There a little something for everyone.
I agree!!! I liked Dunks top 100 list of movies too!!! And his break downs of movies!!
His analysis of The Shining was phenomenal and I've been waiting for him to do another video like that ever since

Kinda funny how Dunkey asked for more player freedom to do crazy stuff on Tears of the Kingdom and that's exactly what we got lol
It was heavily suggested that there would be, but we didn't know just how much Nintendo would focus marketing on the expanded creativity and player freedom.

Somehow, also containing some of the worst stuff:
ForSpoken
Redfall
Gollum
Bad PC ports (Last os Us Part 1, Jedi survivor, etc)
So 2023 is kinda like a Best AND Worst Year at the same time.

@@greenbitch6432 my guy they only make 6 souls games over 60 unique games they made
@@greenbitch6432 I don't think he was talking about how varied their "soulslike" titles are but the fact they have a certain feeling modern AAA games (that I've played at least) lack.

Let's review:
- Tekken 8 was the only fighting game that dropped with a good single player (but sf6 and mk1 were both pretty fun)
- FF16 had a pretty good story for final Fantasy standards but the combat was just meh
- Silksong did not come out but i have a feeling they'll announce a release date any day now (it's so over)
- Pikmin 4 was really really good
- Zelda was disappointing in a couple aspects but it's still a Zelda game so of course it was a masterpiece
- Armored core went pretty hard as well, despite being pretty not souls like
- Spider man was fun but didn't include the pizza minigame so 0/10
- Resident evil 4 was indeed fantastic and silent Hill is looking like another zombie shooter
- Metroid Prime was just as good as it used to be
- Animal well was a very good game for it's size and production team
Overall pretty good predictions and a great year for gaming

Your mention of single-player adventures in fighting games is really interesting. I'd love if you talked about it more.

1:35 WE FINALLY KNOW THAT DUNKEY LIKES METROID DREAD

I turned god mode on (cuz I was getting extremely bored of repeating levels) and I still didn’t finish the game. I'm excited for a lot of the games listed in this video, but if I could add one to Dunkey's list, it'd be Alien Hominid Invasion.
