  • One of the most frustrating experiences is to spend three days working on a system, only to realize that you've been using the wrong tool for your goal. Perhaps the task I aimed to accomplish was simple, and GOAT is overly complex. Nonetheless, it remains a thicket where one must endure scratches to learn and comprehend the workings because a documentation that merely serves as a dictionary proves quite futile when engaged in a tangible project. Thus, you find yourself sifting through an abundance of material, much of which holds no interest, in an effort to discern what is truly pertinent to your requirements.
    Indeed, that's the conclusion. I've realized that Behavior Trees combined with Goal-Oriented Action Planning can be an excellent tool for specific scenarios, but not universally applicable. Ultimately, Finite State Machines remain the superior choice in numerous instances.
