  • The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia recently celebrated the renovations to the historic Girl Scout building in the heart of Columbus, Georgia with a re-dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
    The building, at 1807 17th Street in Columbus' Lakebottom community, is also now named Dot's Little House in memory and honor of Dorothy "Dottie" Morris Cheves.
    The groundbreaking ceremony for the original building was December 1, 1948.. Columbus resident Joy Bertram Daniels was at that ceremony, and returned for the re-dedication ceremony on May 29, 2024. The Girl Scout uniform she wore is 1948 is now on display inside Dot's Little House.
