This show left me just like that. Profoundly confused at 1 in the morning. I had more questions when finished with the show than after the first episode. I didn't have that satisfaction of everything coming together this time and it's quite frustrating. Honestly this show is amazing and infuriating at the same time
remember when at the end grace says that she knows jaramiah will keep her secrets just as she is keeping his.... so does this not prove that she and jaramiah were faking the hypnosis
This statement of Grace made me wonder that time before they went inside the room (where the hypnosis took place). Remember both jeremiah and grace were still outside of that room, but the scene only shows jeremiah telling grace that it was time to go or something like that. I think they were somehow rehearsing, maybe? Who knows. It also took me back where jeremiah visited grace at the kinnear home. He told grace that the next time he sees her, he hopes that she will go with him so he could take care of her (not marry as he explained). However, this aspect is left for us audiences to interpret. Overall, the mini-series was very very excellent!
I believe that Jeremiah and Grace faked the entire thing. Jordan even says after the hypnosis that he doesn’t believe it is real. Grace and Jeremiah had some time to talk to one another before the hypnosis, which we’ve never seen, so they could’ve easily discussed it then. Also, when Grace faints when seeing Jeremiah again, she says that he could play a trick without anyone in the room noticing.
I believe so too, but what I don't understand is that why would they go with the whole Mary/Grace plot which didn't even result in her immediate freedom. They could have just stuck to McDermott being the culprit all along and Grace just being a victim and then Dr. Jordan would definitely have to write a favourable report because there wouldn't have been such a mysterious story about DID or possession.
What if Mary wasn’t real and what happened to Mary actually happened to Grace. Also the doctor thinking she faked the Mary hypnosis performance to get to him was part of his abusive narcissism.

Maybe she killed Nancy and Thomas but her personality switched with Mary's, because she was more confident and determine. And I searched a bit more about DID, and it says " When personalities switch, you’ll have gaps in your memory" and Grace had those memory gaps right before murder.
It’s kinda tricky because people might assume that grace was pretending to be mary. but when Mary died didn’t grace wake up saying where is grace where is grace and the ladies saying you are grace as she fainted. what if grace let Mary in and Mary took over graces body I’m not sure everything confusing

I thought Maryʻs spirit took over. Since she said when she died “let me in” kind of like how how you see annabelle that spirits consume another human/vessel if they seem weak or accept them. That would maybe explain her blackouts.

I believe Grace truly was inhabited my Mary Whitney. I have several reasons. 1) Jeremiah was genuinely shocked my the performance. His face showed he wasn’t prepared for what was happening. It was as much a shock to him as the others. 2) Grace always was in disbelief when Mary spoke so crude and honest. It wasn’t part of Grace to be that way. She couldn’t tell her traumas honestly. She was of the mindset the traumas were LESS than reality. The SA’s were always forbidden to be discussed by Grace- though it would definitely have happened each and every time. There is not possibility that a woman as vulnerable as Grace would be safe from the harms of men. She would have had many SA’s in her lifetime. 3) the many SA’s makes Grace vulnerable to a part of her psyche to be blacked out from truth. The part blacked out from truth is when we are vulnerable to be inhabited by a spirit. That’s why we must always tell the truth to ourselves. Grace could not. She was overwhelmed by grief. Her hidden part of her own psyche is where Mary found safe haven. Inside of that part of Grace Mary decided to seek vengeance through Grace- in a way- for both Mary and Grace had been greatly wronged by people and never protected by anyone. Mary did it for herself and also for Grace. 4) finally at the end when Grace said, “Jeremiah will keep my secrets and I his.” That wasn’t Grace. When her face changes to something more sinister it’s Mary that is in that moment- not Grace. The two share a body- but have their own SOULS. 5) finally there is a phenomenon that is studied about ghosts inside of people. This is a known about researched phenomenon. There’s even a show- called The Ghost Inside my Child. I 💯 believe Grace is innocent. I 💯 believe that Mary inhabits a part of Grace’s psyche where it was dark and closed off to Grace herself. This is my feelings about the show. I don’t believe Grace sinister. I don’t believe her lying. You see her face change with her own personality and then with Mary is an entirely different face. It’s not the same woman. There is a phenomenon KNOWN about where ghosts of another person are inside one body- one body- two souls. That’s a KNOWN AND RESEARCHED phenomenon. So it is silly to be debating something that is known and researched. When many unnumbered amounts of people have experienced the same phenomenon of a ghost inside of them.
I've read the book and concluded a bit of theories myself. There are multiple theories in this case judging from the book, the book actually explains a lot of questions from the side of both Grace and Jordan
@@comedianmalyka2646 There are theories that Grace had DID but in the book it was said that Grace had no memory of the murder but in the ending it was confirmed that Grace did not kill Nancy but rather it was Mary Whitney trapped in the soul of Grace because it was too late of her to open up the windows when Mary Whitney died. (This confused me too actaully but meh)

@@thunderstraw864 Grace technically didn't knew Jeremiah was the Doctor but it goes to show before the whole thing, Jeremiah told something to Grace before walking in to the room but it was in Simon's pov that it concludes as his theory only. He said her eyes were wide and she seems pale but the way she trusts Jeremiah, it wasn't the case maybe she was afraid too,afraid of what she and the others might know about herself and to their surprise, as odd as it might sound, it was actually Mary Whitney in Grace and "Mary Whitney" was the one who killed Nancy and the reason why Mary was in Grace's body was Grace, remembering what the woman on the boat told her about opening up the window, Grace opened up the window a little bit too late and Mary Whitney was not able to go out and be free well as the book says at least.
After watching the first episode i was so happy that i found a great series i have watched it in 4k i loved the videography the scenes the set and the characters and everything but the end was like man what just happened here hahahha... Btw my theory is that grace was lying all the time: what if mary didn't said let me in! What if grace knew she won't be free from prison so she played on and talked to the doctor so she can spend some time in peace with him and not in prison or in doing chores!! Also i believe Jeremiah and geace faked the hypnosis part. Jeremiah and grace were alone for a while before the hypnosis, also she said in the end that it's our secret Jeremiah wont tell anyone and nor will she. Overall i enjoyed watching the series, and i am okay with the confusion afk ending xd

the term Multiple Personality disorder is outdated. Refer to it as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). also even tho u can only get DID in childhood, u can develop new alters whenever
She did have a large number of traumas in her early childhood that could have lead to her developing DID. Mary could have been an alter she got long after having gotten the disorder
