Quick update: The Pink and Silver housing will get available in early December. If you want a personal reminder as soon as the new colored housing are available, send me an e-mail to e-mail to contact@matthiaslebo.com and I'll make sure to inform you personally as soon as the first units are ready to ship.
I do wish Divevolk had named the new version the 5? But I’m not fussed and there will be a good resale value on my current housing when I do eventually upgrade my iPhone. I always dive with my newest/best phone but plenty of peeps dive with their older version.
I know, the PLUS addition makes the whole lineup a little confusing. But it has become the new standard housing anyways, so that confusion shouldn't last very long. 😉 Totally agree with you. I always use my latest/best smartphone to film underwater. In the end I want to make use of the best camera features available, not rely on some "older" camera specs. 😁
Hi Matthias, First of all, thank you for your fun and informative videos-they’ve been incredibly helpful and inspiring for planning my underwater adventures! I’m currently exploring options for a compact underwater camera to capture my diving experiences, both in video and photography. The Divevolk SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum combined with my iPhone 14 Pro Max seems like a great choice, as it allows me to use various apps I already rely on, such as Filmic Pro, BlackMagic, Moment, and Halide. Additionally, it’s more convenient when traveling. Divevolk offers a selection of lenses, and I’m curious which one would be the most useful or essential. Imagine you're diving: you spot a stunning Nudibranch and want to capture it in detail (Macro), moments later, an Eagle Ray swims by, and you’d like to photograph/film it beautifully, and then you want to take a breathtaking landscape shot of the entire reef (Wide). There’s also the consideration that for Macro shots, you might use a light, eliminating the need for a red filter, whereas a wide shot would benefit from the filter. However, the Divevolk allows only one filter at a time. Is it possible to switch lenses underwater? What would you recommend for such varied underwater scenarios? Thanks in advance for your advice!
Hey buddy, Thanks for your kind words and your questions. The Platinum housing is a solid choice for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Just keep in mind that due to the thicker lens module on the housing (it is meant for slightly thicker smartphones) you might get some black corners when using the 0.5x lens in combination with the wide angle conversion lens (only in photo mode, not when taking video). If you want to avoid this altogether, go for the new Seatouch 4 Max Plus housing: bit.ly/3nVqDaS Regarding lenses I would get a wide angle conversion lens for sure. Same goes for the red filter, which I would use at all times unless you're shooting macro and are using a light. I recommend this compact 5000 lumen video light here: bit.ly/4dlWiKr Filters and wet lenses can be swapped out underwater. 👍🏻 I hope this helps?
Question: I'm trying to decide between the shellbox version 2 and the version 3 what one would you recommend? The version 3 seems to now run off bluetooth.
I got the seatouch Max 4 last month for my trip to Hawaii. The housing worked fine, but even following all the guides for setting up the camera app in the phone, all my pictures are 99% blue. My $100 knockoff gopro looked better, but it flooded, so I wanted to try somethiing new. $450 later, I wish I had just bought a new gopro (knockoff).
@starhawke380 were you using a red filter? The phone doesn't now that you are underwater and that it needs to add red to the captured image. It's a very common issue to end up with "blueish" images if a red filter is not used.
@@radeaver You can change the color temperature, but that is not going to add any red color into the image. The sensor can only work with what it sees.

What about the iPhone 12?

@ you never know when you’re going to see a Great White Shark! Wow I will never shoot 8-bit again 😜
I have a Seatouch Max 4 and a GoPro 13 but the best for me is the Max4 with the use of the Vivo X100 Ultra phone
@FUS88 thanks for sharing your thoughts with the community mate. Looking forward to seeing your Vivo X100 footage. 😊

Just run your footage through AquaColorFix or Dive+. Problem fixed.

@MatthiasLebo seems like the housing should have it built in then, instead of making you spend another $100 plus to get one.
@@MatthiasLebo can't you adjust the white balance in the camera app (Final Cut camera) without needing the add on red filter?
