Yes, I totally agree with you about these guys' intellectual level, how they thought out each song's lyrics. That's the part the most of people don't know about, having to think just another boyband prenotion and brush them off without wanting to know them.

Such a gem of a song, and it's wild how it was simply a free SoundCloud release! This is an iconic example of why BTS is genius. I also recommend checking out RM's solo song, Trivia: Love, which also features brilliant Korean word play.

You should watch "Idol Explained by a Korean". This song is very underappreciated, but once you have the video explained, you'll most likely be amazed!

I absolutely adore your boundless enthusiasm - and your bravery to dare with learning Korean! Good for you! Hangul is not hard, but that is as far as I have taken the challenge of understanding Korean and BTS' lyrics, so I am eternally grateful for ALL the ARMYs who translate, and all those who prepare explanations of their MVs and songs. And I suspect that BTS is a group where it would be pretty much impossible to suggest a song or MV in which you would not find what you look for, so I think our task for you is not hard! David from DKDKTV (who you see here) is a loooooong time ARMY, and his business partner Danny is a kinda-fan, but less so - that said, he has also provided a couple of really useful "explained by a Korean" videos. I adore their playfulness with language and the way that - unlike western rap - they are able to demolish their enemies without ever dropping their standards.
If you have not yet found it you might enjoy Paldongsang - or Satoori Rap (you will), but you WILL need an "explained" - so ... just as well there IS one 🤣💜💜💜💜

Isn’t it so fun to find the hidden gems? I absolutely love getting the deep meanings and there is so much, even on song where you don’t expect it. Like RM’s Love. I think you would enjoy it. 💜🙂

I used to be okay at learning languages, not the best, but I could retain and use things in real world situations. Then, I had a stroke. Since the stroke, I have a very difficult time retaining information for any length of time. If you give me your name and phone number, by the time I've written down you phone number, I've forgotten your name. I was determined not to give up when I started studying Korean though, and that stubbornness has actually helped with my memory issues. It's taken me two years, but I'm at the point where I'm retaining a surprising amount of Korean. Compared to the beginning, anyway.
The Korean alphabet, Hangul, is fairly easy to learn. Pronunciation, on the other hand, can be very difficult. Many of their words are a lot longer than most commonly used English words and they can be real tongue twisters for someone learning the language. Also, the language can be changed and adjusted, especially the written language, which adds to the difficulty. It can be changed to be "written cutely". The also have different words for things that we would used the same word for. For example, "no" as a negative answer to a question is a different word than "no" used as a protest or an objection to something happening. Also, a number of things can be implied in the context of a conversation without actually being spoken. I've seen BTS use the word for "don't" for "stop it", "don't touch that", "don't say it", etc. The word is used more to directly speak to someone than a general protest to something happening. They also use the Korean word for "why" to ask someone what's going on or what's happening. Like when JK does something and Hobi laughs his head off at JK, then Jin will be off to the side going, "Why, why, why, why?" And, yes, I've actually seen that happen.
On the plus side, it's not a language that a whole lot of people ever wanted to learn before BTS. Because of that, Koreans are very kind and forgiving over mispronounced words. They just appreciate that the effort to learn and speak the language was made. Well, if you're sincerely trying to learn the language, any way. Not so much if you're just trying to ingratiate yourself.

BTS’s songs are for thinkers..Black Swan was the turning point for my Army life 💜
as for your Korean language learning, I suggest you watch Return of the Superman..it's a family variety show showcasing celerity dads withe their children..since they are mostly conversing with children you will learn words and phrases spoken slowly and repeatedly..I personally learned a lot of Korean vocabulary watching them..also you will have an overview of Korean culture 👌

Not related to ddaeng but I love how bright you are in your BTS videos lately. Even your shirt is in a brighter color :) When I first saw your reaction to Butter, I was like "This guy is so annoying!" and so negative, like I can feel your negativity from that reaction alone. But now you're like a proud dad when you watch them :) I'm new to BTS too but not in the kpop culture, so we're on this journey together and I'm glad you gave them another chance instead of stopping at Butter.
