nice, you're local to me. I've been to that corksport meet last year and it was pretty fun. I just picked up a 2010 mz5 5 speed a few weeks ago and I think I am going to go with some megan racing lowering springs. like a 1.75 inch drop front and back with the stock shocks
That drop is a lot! My coilovers were that low and rubbed on everything, even with rolled fenders, so I raised it up a little. I like the Eibach Sport springs 1.25" drop paired with Bilsteins.
@@PlaysWithCars does that get rid of the fender to wheel gap? I think the h&r springs are 1.25 drop as well. Also if I got just a 1.25 inch drop would the oe shocks still break pretty quickly?
@@chriscole9621 It does get rid of the gap. Mazda5's are *hard* on suspension parts no matter what, especially shocks. That's why I recommend the Bilstein's. Cheaper stuff just fails.
I want to autocross my mazda 5 but according to their rules the car has to be wider then it is taller and you measure from the ground and as is my mazda 5 is just out of that range so hopefully when I lower it itll be allowed
I have no mechanical experience whatsoever, but I'm thinking of taking a chance on a 2008 Mazda 5 mini van I saw in with 138k miles for $3650. Also was considering a Protege wagon or 3 Hatchback. Debating.
@@PlaysWithCars I'm leaning towards the mini van for the the space to do some road trips in. If I do buy one I will follow what you did and upgrade the breaks, shocks, struts and suspension as needed. Also would need to find myself a mechanic who is experienced in maintaining Mazda's. If you know of anyone in San Francisco, let me know.
Do not touch the Mazda 5 with a barge pole. Several faults which Mazda themself are aware of. Save yourself the grief and do not get a Mazda 5. I am paying the price after buying a Mazda 5 for the space.
Nice 5, wish you still had it. I stick swapped mine with a 5 speed out of a Mazda 3 when the automatic gave out.
sweet 5! I'm looking at getting coilovers for mine in the next few months. Great video! :)
just bought a 2012. love it.
Do you still have this van? I am watching your entire series on this. I need to find one with a manual.

Looks Great Man !! What's Wheel / Tire set up ? Just bought same car . Thanks
So which one is the one that comes with paddle shifters 🤔🤔

I autocrossed mine with several clubs, including the SCCA. You shouldn't even need to lower it. The Mazda5 is 68.9" wide and only 63.6" tall.
@@PlaysWithCars really? Maybe my measurements were off. Maybe I'll just show up and see what happens
@@chriscole9621 These are Mazda's official measurements. What club are you planning on racing with?
@@PlaysWithCars scca, just autocross at PIR in portland, or surrounding areas like the dalles airport autocross and whatnot
@@chriscole9621 you should be fine. I've run my 5 with Oregon SCCA
Hey did you do any other mods? Like foot pedal covers ?
Drag DR31 17x7.5 wheels, Kuhmo ECSTA PA51 225/45/17 tires, HAWK Street 5.0 pads with drilled/slotted rotors, Godspeed MonoSS coilovers with front caster/camber plates, SPC rear camber arms, Whiteline endlinks, CorkSport LED foglights, OEM roof rack and cargo cover.
A guy at mazda told me I could use a lowering kit on my 2013 5 from a 2010 to 2015 3 mazda. Nice build
Damm if only I knew I had seen coil over on a 3 from the junk
@@kymmedia2 oh damn

Yes! Our old project Cobra! ua-cam.com/video/39aSN4I8dng/v-deo.html
Hey where did you buy the car cover(tonneau) from dealership?
No, Amazon actually. I'll dig back for the part number, it's the factory Mazda part.
@@PlaysWithCars much appreciated if you can

The 3 and 5 are the same chassis and suspension, and both are more advanced than the Protege5. All three are fantastic cars!

@@aberprince i highly disagree, i have a 2008 mazda 5!! you cant kill it!! normal everyday suspension issues, other than that best vehicle by far
Did you sell it?
Yes, it's no longer with us.
Why did u sell it??
What roof rack do you have. I've been looking for that style but not banking much luck.
That is the factory optional rack directly from Mazda.
Thank you for sharing this info I love how it looks on yours…
