- Boston Celtics signed two-year deal with Dalano Banton, the 23-year-old guard. Here are his best highlights from the 2022-23 NBA season as he averaged 4.6 PPG (on 42-29-71 shooting splits) to go with 1.5 RPG and 1.2 APG in 31 games played for Toronto Raptors.

Raptor fan here. You guys just got a real diamond in the rough in Banton. 3:44 Was injured lots last year. For a tall guy he’s deceptively fast on the break and a good ball handler, great finisher at the rim, smart cutter, great creative passer with either hand. Good long defender. Check out his one start last season at pg. The kid was awesome, put short handed Raptors on his back drained 6 FT’s at the end and we finally were able to beat Detroit. He never got a fair shake with Nick Nurse / Fred VV bromance. Boston acquired a Gem, a real good teammate, all around good young man.
Bro trying to gas him up
Glad to hear it!
Not a raptors fan, I am a Celtic but I respect people that can recognize game.
i agree. I wish Banton stayed. I wish him the best
Thanks for the feedback. Stats are ugly...but I like the height. Moves like Livingston back in the day. Going to be tough for him to get minutes in Boston too unless we end up trading PP for a big.
Good luck next year. As a Celtics fan, the seasons are so much more fun when the raptors are good. Hopefully the rebuild is quick
BRO WE LITERALLY JUST GETTING EVERY TALL DUDE POSSIBLE
someone gotta stop wemby 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah, and?
Yea and he can't shoot a jumper. We always sign pg's that can't shoot. This guys just like Ben Simmons aka trash
@@mikedemirdjian9976and he can't ahoot. Not one jumper in these highlights lol
@@riyaandrayplay6856 we don’t need him to shoot with 3 elite scores on the team just be a playmaker and play defense..
Two things from a raptors fan.
He had Minutes tight nurse as a coach and he was playing in his hometown as a rookie. Getting away will be good for Banton.
Yeah I've seen all his highlights I've been washing them throughout the day and he seems to be super athletic a great I will I won't say a great defender but he seems pretty damn good on defense he just needs more minutes to work on his shooting and Boston has very great development with young players we have a proven track record throughout the history of basketball he'll definitely be a very good rotational piece
@@christiangalllietmo1528 He needs better decision making. I think it will come. The honeymoon is over now and I’m sure he’s putting lots of work in. Banton was one of those guys who was almost too good for G league but not clinical enough for major minutes in the NBA. With FVV, and technically Flynn ahead of him with Dowtin Jr who didn’t play much but we resigned becaus frankly he outplayed Banton in their limited minutes battle.
He can be good.
Ceiling Shaun Livingston
Raptor fan here. He deserved a bigger opportunity than what he got in Toronto. I think the Raptor will regret losing him. Smart pick-up by the C's.
He used to torch the C's last year. Great pickup! And yes, he can defend. 💪🏼
I love this move! Nice pick up! ☘
Is this guy even goin play ? Or g league like every other pick up
@@JeebyTube Well... he's been in the league 2 years. I think he's definitely a nice bench piece.
He's long as hell...
6'7" and he defends well. Only 23 yrs old.. Can handle the ball and pass pretty good. Not bad size for the guard position..
and at the price they got him for.
@@JeebyTubehe’s definitely not gonna be in the g league but he won’t get a lot minutes
@JeebyTube I think you're thinking about draft picks especially in the 2nd they barely ever play
Love the defense & driving. Just hope a nice midrange jumper gets established
6’7” PG I can’t complain.
Really like Banton he doesn’t even need a 3 ball if he develops a little mid range game like Shaun Livingston he’ll be in this league for a long time
This kid has mad potential
Pretty funny at the end when he shot that 3 against the celtics
The last 3 playoff games the Celtics won have dictated their offseason
They came back from a 0-3 deficit to force a Game 7 by changing their defensive philosophy of forcing turnovers, using their athleticism, and getting easy buckets in the fast break
Their acquisitions of Walsh, Brissett, and Banton are evidence of that
I’m just gonna let you know they prob won’t get any playoff time
Great pick up 🍀
To all the people that say Banton can't shoot he does pretty good / and drive layups he's quick on his feet he's athletic and he's tall and lanky which means he can play great defense ain't no certified Superstar but do y'all forget as Boston fans we have one of the best player development programs in the league we're going to develop this guy and he will be a legit bench dude probably get 5 to 10 minutes maybe 15 a game by the end of the year and let's not forget to mention him and Oshea have a little bit of synchronicity with each other
He's a terrible shooter.. idk where you got that he was an OK shooter
@@JoeBidenswallows no I never said he was okay but he is really good at slashing and driving to the hoop and getting layups he is super athletic that's what I'm saying and he's a dog on defense which is good for the bench I'm not saying that he's going to be some legit Superstar but I am saying he'll be a good rotational piece you can always improve on shooting with good shooting coaches and to teach them good mechanics also I love the name I hate Joe Biden too I want Trump back in office LOL
@@christiangalllietmo1528 oh I gotcha and yeah Biden is the worst president we've ever had.. I also can't wait till trumps back in office
@@JoeBidenswallows did you see the clip where the girl asks him if he was going to allow women to receive equal pay and if she would have the right to abort a child if he was in office and all he responded with was you'll receive equal pay if you do the same job just as good and that he was pro-life which meant that he was probably going to sign into law no more legal abortions
He’s almost unplayable a lot of the times
I’m a raptors fan, I had to search Boston and Dalano here, since he moved to Boston Im proud to say I’m a Boston fan now aside from raptors because two of my fav player is in Boston JT and Dalano
He plays like Shaun Livingston
Welcome to Boston Brodie
Congratulations on a great signing pure potential with this young man
I seen him play before didn’t know he was this tall
Also - I think Boston is trying to get bigger obviously. lol Gonna be one of the tallest starting lineups/teams
This was fast 😮
The Boston Banton
He’s probably a year or two away from having a chance to be a starter or a real impact player off the bench but this is a good pickup by the C’s. A 6’9 PG that got game like that and is only 24 years old is good for the team. In my opinion I think this signing puts pressure on Pritchard and JD Davidson to step up because if they don’t Dalano Banton could easily take they’re spot in the rotation and even on the whole team
The fan geekin on the sideline in that last highlight LMAO
Solid grab
Bro is an actual lockdown 🔒
no hes not those were the 5 defensive plays he made all season. He's not a good defender.
Thanks for this video! Nice pick up!
Mahn I love your channel ❤
Kid is quick off the fast break lol
This dude is a bad pass magnet in the luckiest way possible lol, seems like him being on the court forces someone to throw a bad pass to him
He is a turnover machine
fhe way he goes into the rim dashing, dunno the correct term but yeah, reminds me of how JB doing it
Welcome to Portland
Brad suddenly stacking future replacement for Jaylen...
This bum is now gonna replace Jaylen brown? Lol
Not a Celtic fan but a fan of real basketball moves an this could make them a threat!! 🤷🏿
We already have a guy like this in the G-league. His name is Juhann Begarin, but nonetheless, Banton brings a lot of defensive potential in addition to scoring around the rim.
Begarin is a wing not a pg dumbasss
2wayFacilitator nice ☘️
Like this move actually
He does play defense right?
Yes, he's a good defender
I’m liking the defense and the passing, nice bench piece. I’m not worried about shooting/scoring with the Cs and Tatum needs to work on that in between game, when he’s attacking or off the pick and roll. Ima need the defense to get right tho, cause last season most definitely wasn’t it and brown tighten up on that left
Brown needs to tighten up on his handles and start playing more offball like he did in his first few years
Oh he nice to we going be tall lol
i really hope Joe will stop playing our Stars million minutes a game giving newly acquired players a chance to step on the floor
The defense continues to get young, long (pause) and athletic! Lets Go C's ☘
Bro you can say the word long it’s ok you won’t magically turn gay if you don’t fat pause
@@Jphizzle96 Didn't expect the pause patrol!? Second it was a jk
You don't have to police everything BRO
I’m so let down. I’m not happy at all we lost him🤦🏾♂️🚎🦖
I feel like this is a move to help Payton Pritchard. Now, no matter what guard we put out there with him, PP will probably end up playing the 2 so we can hide him on defense.
Pritchard playing they 2 is horrible and a defensive liability
hes been wanting out for forever were sending him in a package for a big player probably
@@pltony23you don’t understand the game, don’t comment like you do. Great rule of thumb.
How does signing a 6’7” Point Guard, help Pritchard? Now, there are ONCE AGAIN, 3 Point Guards AHEAD OF PRITCHARD, ON THE DEPTH CHART! The Boston Celtics are GOING TO TRADE PAYTON PRITCHARD!
@@ThePartarar huh? You don't know what I do or don't know about basketball tf...I can tell you that there's a reason Pritchard doesn't get minutes and alot has to do with his defensive liability
With the crazy moves we're doing this offseason, if we don't get a chip, we'll be laughing stock.
No you don’t have to worry cause there’s phoenix 😂
Another raptors fan here. This guy will win you a championship. He's going to be extraordinary in a couple of years and he is above average as it is. His first basket was a half court shot. I'm still pissed we didn't try to retain him.
Hopefully no more easy practices for the J's
Who did we trade for him? Or was he a free agent
Free agent
We are getting so much free agents lol. First it was Oshae brisset now it’s dalano banton
@@katega6379two Toronto born dudes
@@ryantwitter343ooh
we recruiting someone, who just sit on bench bcs Joe Mazulla just played with 7-8 Players. LOL
He's nice
Seriously sad to see him leave the Raptors. Nick Nurse didn't give him a chance. First Canadian born player on the Raptors and a Toronto man to the bone. Great speed and length as a pointguard, but has no jumper. With a bit of development he could be a monster--he murders the G League--and I fear in a few years he's going to make Toronto pay for releasing him, much like Jonas Valanciunus (sp) did.
He’s not the first Canadian born Raptor but the first drafted. Cory Joseph, Oshae Brissett, Khem Birch, and his teammate Chris Booucher all came before him.
@ryantwitter343 boucher was born in st. lucia but was raised in montreal
Looks like a good passer for his position. Pesky defender too.
He's a pg
Better than PP
first celtic ever to keep is original number 😂
Whose here after hearing Celtics signed him
Lol
He's better than Walsh right now...
As if he hasn’t been a pro longer… this comment was just dumb
Seems like a decent player just not the guard archetype the Celtics need rn
So his entire game is layups and driving to three hoop that don't work in the playoffs 🤔
Another derrick white 😂
prolly not gonna get much minutes
Trade proposal 🤔🤔🤔
Jazz receive: Luke Kornet + Payton Pritchard + 2 second round pick
Boston receive: Kelly Olynyk
hell no - We needs guards more now
@@SyNdicateZ81 are you DRUGS? We need a big cant shoot in 3pt shoot and dribbling
@@nbapbaupdate8338that’s honestly smart, I doubt we even use pp or kornet next season anyway
Dude cant shoot outside
Banton is meh. I wish him the best.
Tall but can't shoot a jumper...Simmoms 2.0 fml
They're both PGs... their jobs are to facilitate and use their size to get to the rim
@@CleanMusicLover229 Kinda. I'm a PG myself. Our job is to run the offense. Sometimes the offense dies or the other team goes on a run. It's then our job is to be the offense. This requires a little mid range game. Simple little pull ups. Yes, we can get inside but the leauge is so big these days and the defense is so good that, having a little mid range game is a must. It's for when the offense is slumping, you're in charge so you need to put the team on your back for a min and get a run going. This sparks your team. If you drive and pass a lot the defense will pick up on this. Drive shoot a mid range jumper and now the defense must honor you as a shooter as well. Which then opens up the shooters. Just like with Rondo in the Finals, when Kobe left him to double Pierce and our whole team. Rondo can't shoot so he just left himx. He's ok but hopefully JD has his jumper down now a little and thats our guy. Watch. Smart also has zero mid range game and he hurt our offense.. He's not a true PG though so its not really his fault.
Shot more threes than Simmons already.
Simmons was good, just mentally weak.
@@riyaandrayplay6856 Well Rondo helped us win a title. The title run you're talking about is when KG got injured.
Also, it's not eveyday a 6'7-6'9 PG come around. I believe he will get better by working with Sam Cassell.
The last 2 signings are players that will be bench warmers. I dont know why Boston is signing players that wont play. Can we sign a real role player please that can play?
Unimpressed
Other than Unicorn i dont know wtf Brad is doing. These last 2 guys are both worse than Grant and Grant will also be gone. Brogdons injury really screwed the team over in many ways. They kept talking about the Green light to spend but these pick ups are nothing. We need scorers off the bench. Tell me when Tatum sits where are the points coming from? That was a big problem last year and they still haven't addressed it. We need a shooter and a rebounding big for the bench .
Celtics fans can't do nothing but complain Brad literally got a guy that averaged 23 pts last season and you still complain
@@MiyaSashi1-0 the Cs dont have any super stars so they need as much help as possible
@@80sbaby___baby70 well bc this isn’t 2k birdbrain. You get players that fit your system
@@M3333_shut up dude
I pretty much was all over these signings as far as what the Celtics need and type of players and they are following suit. I can't stand the media because they just throw names out there that don't really fit. He fits what they need vs overspending on someone else. Same with Oshae. And their second round pick. Once they lost smart they needed pg play and physicality on the cheap. The media on the other hand was focused on all these other guys that are overpriced and overrated and don't fit. I had in my mind the type of pg they needed and this guy fits that. Same with Davidson really. Even Pritchard. The Celtics were ahead of the curve in that regard. Pritchard should be playing more. If they get Lillard obviously that changes somewhat.
Both he and Davidson. C's need actual pg play. These signings also give them flexibility with Grant Williams, Brown, Brogdon, Rwill, etc as far as making trades where they can go after a pg ala lillard if that presents itself. I think they are waiting on Brown's extension for that reason just to not limit themselves. Doesn't mean Brown will be traded either way. The media loves to run with this stuff but it's just common sense. They need actual pg play either way and added size and physicality. Oshae, their 2nd round pick and this signing basically cover that. Still would have rathered trade Brogdon over Smart for Kristaps but the C"s are doing their dilligence and still was the right move to upgrade their talent level. Kristaps is a better player than Smart if Healthy. Pretty even trade regardless. Smart does the intangible things and is a rock as far as competition is concerned. Kristaps hasn't been healthy in his career so far but doesn't mean that will be the case going forward. Kristaps has more upside ultimately but pretty even players value wise. Both the Celtics and Grizzlies should remain firmly in the hunt and upgraded themselves but are still behind Denver and Miami as it stands especially if Miami gets Lillard. Celtics still need another move and are gambling a bit with Kristaps.
Guys like Oshae, their 2nd round pick and this signing are still down the roster imo as far as PT. It's basically Pritchard, White, Brown, Tatum, Kristaps with Brogdon, HOrford, Rwill as the tough guys now and Brogdon has questions even still. Their 2nd round pick. The jury is still out on Grant williams. Hauser. Oshae. Davidson. That's 13 players right there. He's still the 13th or 14th player on the roster. Plus Luke Kornet. Kornet could be gone imo depending on what happens with their other bigs. People are assuming Grant Williams is even gone at this point which may not be the case. This roster overhaul is far from done anyways. Doesn't mean he won't play. But he and Davidson will probably battle it out for the 4th pg and just depth as it stands. Pritchard, White Brogdon are 1, 2, 3 but that may even change. Pritchard is the guy who is going to see a lot more minutes right now. D avidson and this guy will more play a different role when the celtics need more penetration or White gets hurt. There is a small role on this team for a sam cassell type role but it's pretty small and right now it's Brogdon who is it in a larger role. White is going to start. These guys are more just depth and will play a very small role at times. I hate numbering guys like 1-13 down the roster bcause there is still a role there to be had.
Brogdon, Rwill, etc could be traded for Lillard right now for all we know and these guys will not see the light of day. Brown could be dealt. The Celtics could decide to resign Grant Williams and cut Kornet. We don't know right now. Why the Celtics are just waiting it out even with BRown's extension. It doesn't mean he will be dealt like I said. But as far as the money is concerned it's silly to sign him to an extension until all the money and trade scenarios are worked out. They could trade for Lillard and match Grant Williams money if they trade someone for all we know. Or even trade Grant Williams in a sign and trade. Lillard has to want to come here so it doesn't mean anything right now. Just rumors.
Am I the only one that knows he won’t get significant minutes? I think he’s a great prospect for development but I don’t see him in the rotation.
Probably not because we signed oshae brisset and Lamar stevens who are more proven. Also we have Prichard and Hauser who can play good minutes when needed
This guy makes Jaylen Brown's handle look tight
like the talent but is he even good? i feel like this is just another garbage time guy
Can't shoot 3's to save his life and has no jumper but can play solid defense so he's basically a younger Ben Simmons 😂 hopefully here in Boston he can develop a better jumper
