Hello! So that’s something I definitely want to do! I’ve got a few different 700 motors but I want to get a Egodrift and scorpion 4530 so I can test all of them in my 700 with the same setup. See what motor makes more power and runs the most efficient. I’m personally a big fan of Xnova. That’s my go to motor.

two questions, first I am confuse about motor iddle, I watched you flipping a left side switch to go to motor iddle and then you went out of motor iddle flipping a switch at your right , would be nice to see a video of setting the bail out. Second question raw or rs7? lol

Left switch is banks, 1-2-3. Right switch is motor off, Motor Idle, motor on. Ball out is set right from the start when you set the governor up. You can adjust up and down how many RPM you want for idle but I can go over that!

    • The only ESC I've ever used is Castle. So, forgive the silly question. If i go with a Hobbywing on my next setup, would I have to purchase the program box? Or, is software available to use with my computer. On another note. Ive never use a BEC. Always used a 2S for powering servos. Ive felt it was an extra margin of safety. Im not a "smacker" ... Big air & graceful 3d is my style. The extra weight of the 2S battery don't effect me. Thanks, Jeff.

You definitely want to buy the Hobbywing program box. The software is free and available for your computer (like castle) but you need the box to plug into the ESC and then computer or just use the box to set the ESC. Hobbywing has a great BEC, 30 amp and never had one fail me. Now! I have had one bad ESC in about 150 of them. But I’ve had a castle catch fire so there is always that one bad one. But Hobbywing is very reliable. It’s all I buy now for my helis. Give one a try and see how you like it.

Still having issues so looking for any general advice here. Initial story was I got the maiden done on the RAW 700 but had such low head speed even at 95% curve I figured the factory motor pinion needed replacing since I’m running a 490Kv motor on 12S. Anywhos, I replaced the motor drive gear with a new 25 tooth gear, re-calibrated the ESC standard, re-set the throttle low and high end points in the Ikon Wizard and then finalized it with a throttle calibration but even at 100% throttle curve I was only getting 1800 RPM on the head speed (verified with a digital tach).
The ESC program box shows 108x1000 so I’m thinking I should be able to achieve 2500RPM with a full 100% throttle.
    108000 / 5 (1/2 motor poles) / 8.48 (gear ratio) =2547 max RPM but I’m only getting 1800.
What am I missing, really need some pro help here.

      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 місяців тому +1

Thank you very much for that! Okay, so the Align motor is definitely a low KV but! With a 25T pulley you should definitely get 2500ish RPM maxed out. Have you tired turning the iKon governor off and just run flat throttle curves to see if the motor is coming up to full RPM? What is the Hobbywing set to? Meaning what mode? Full 4.20vper cell pack?

@@westhobbiesrc8051 Currently the Ikon governor is completely turned off on all three flights modes (I just doubled checked again a few mn ago) and I am using the ESC governor using StoGOV with a calibration value of 108x1000. My last test flight was a flat 100% throttle curve and it only yielded around 1800 RPM which was the same results for all three battery packs that I used (Checked each battery with a cell checker before each flight, they are fully charged).I have done several TX/ESC throttle calibrations, I can confirm in the Ikon wizard that I am getting 0/100 throttle output by adjusting my endpoints/travel. I also adjusted the low and high throttle points as outlined in the wizard on page 12. What is really strange is that on that very same page, it shows the rotor RPM at the correct values that I am setting based on the ESC calibration value of 1,600/1950/2100 but that is not what i am getting at the actual blades, cant even hover this thing at 50% throttle.

I have a Raw 700, Hobbywing 200a V4.1 and an Xnova lightning 4525 530kv motor along with a Vbar control touch.. I have always used the HW internal gov, but want to try the vbar gov. Xnova website says motor timing works perfect with default settings on a HW esc. (if motor gets hot use lower timing values such like 2 to 5 ). Now my question, I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the timing value scale is different in the Vbar control. What timing should I be running? also what gov gain? I don't want to fry an expensive esc! Thank you for any advice.

Hi, I live in New Zealand and have a complete stock setup of an orange/white Raw with VBT, HW 200amp ESC running 12s, 2 x 5000'S. I fly mild 3D but like to have a good headspeed of 2000-bank2, 2200-bank 3. Tic rocks, piroflips rainbows, piro pitch pumps fast funnels with a good amount of pitch etc.
With an Xnova 4525 530kv on a 22T pinion what temp should the motor and ESC be after a flight? I keep having arguments with a friend who is certain that the motor and esc should be cool to touch after a flight and that my set up is wrong. When it is said by you, Bert or anyone else that the motor is cool, what temp are we talking about? I have read on helifreak that "cool" to some people still means a temp of say 50 -60 degrees C. I know that Xnova motors run "cool".
I just want to clarify this. Would I be better off using a 21T? If so then I may run out of headroom for the gov.
I also have a Kraken 700S with an XTareq 700 550kv paired with a HW 260 esc. That thing has some power. thanks for the last reply, I appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance, Cameron Hay

@@gearjammer350 yes, the RPM will fluctuate up and down. It’s a V style curve with blades on. It’s not as noticeable at all so as you demand more, it will stay around that 1600 mark for example you can fine-tune the governor gains to get a more consistent or less consistent depending on what you like.

    Hello Jeff,
I have the VBCe with the HW 150a V5 set on HW Intergrated Vbar like you did. However, when I go into my ESC setting it is all greyed out. I cannot set my BEC voltage to 8v instead it is defaulted to 6.04v. When I click on the question mark under ESC, it states it must be set up in the transmitter settings which I did. I have to use switch 5 for my motor control because Switch1 & 6 have a spring back reset function on the Vbar Contro transmitter unlike the Vbar touch switch 6 stays in place when you pull it back to turn off your motor.. Also when I turn my motor switch 5 to idle nothing happens but when I turn it to motor on everything works fine and all my rpm setting in Bank 1,2, & 3 read the way I programed them.. The HW 150a V5 ESC was programed right out of the box to work with the Vabr. I do not understand why I cannot set my BEC voltage and the motor not turning 300 rpms in idle position? I have the Pro Evo Apps as well as the Pro Value Apps and the Pro Rescue Apps. Do you have any idea why my ESC settings are greyed not allowing me to change my BEC voltage and why my idle mode does not work? Thank you for all you great videos and help. You are a great contributor to the heli community. 👍

Update: I had to go into my ESC using the program box to change my voltage to 8v and now it read 8.19v on my main menu screen on my transmiter. I then setup my AR in my switch menu using the safety switch and programing it to switch #6. In order to get a fast spool I had to use the program box and set it to one second after hitting the AR switch and the turning it back on. However, I have lost my slow startup in order to have fast spool up in case of an emergency. My ESC menu is still greyed out. The ESC instruction say it is only programable in elf or store mode. Maybe this is why my ESC is greyed out on my main screen. This may be unique to the HW 105a V5 esc? I still cannot get idle mode to work.

So here is what I would do. I would go in and re-upload the firmware on the Hobbywing just to make sure it didn’t get a bug in it. I know it comes pre-programmed out of the box, but just in case deserve. Next thing I would do make sure that you have a Vbar governor selected in the hobby wing under the telemetry settings. I have a video on that labeled Vbar telemetry if you haven’t seen it already. Make sure in Gouverneur mode you are using the bar in a graded governor and try again. If you still have problems, I will plug into my 150 and see if I had to do anything special I don’t believe I did, but I want to make sure I can help however or whatever possible way

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Hello again Jeff,
I did as you suggested. I download the V5 software twice: however, in the firmware selection I could only choose fixed wine, Vbar elf mode, andV bar gov store mode only. There was no Vabr Gov choice so I used the Vbar elf mode and configured my esc to all the settings. After doing this I then connected my telemetry cable to tele #2 port as it would not work in tele #1 port. Everything works fine except I cannot get motor idle to work. So I went into the menu to governor mode and went to the AR settings and the lowest idle speed I could get was 1050rpms at 43%. I could not set the AR speed below 43% or it work no longer work in idle mode. If I could drop the AR down to maybe 20% that would be great. My ESC settings are still greyed out. This is frustrating. I have watched all your Vbar videos and have set my radio to your videos settings and everything works fine if only my Vbar Esc setting were not greyed out. The default setting on mY AR was 17% but it doesn't work until testing is set to 43% or higher which is too high for idle. I am at a loss in understanding why this is happening.

i've been trying to figure out my throttle control/signal for 2 days straight now, all my servos are set up and everything works except the motor. i'm using a ikon 2 and the 120a hobbywing esc. somehow, and I don't know why, a couple times randomly i got the motor to work when i switched motor control from hobbywing to "not set" in the ikon settings. however it randomly stopped working when i tried it again even when i switched it back to "not set. been beating my head against a wall about this, not sure what the problem is.
I have the hobbywing multifunction lcd programming box, although I'm not sure what its even good for other than i used it to update the box's firmware and the esc firmware afterwards. my menu's don't look anything like the ones in the video.
also my esc beeps every couple seconds constantly, which i've read means its not getting a throttle signal. i'm completely stumped at this point and i don't know what i can even try to do next, i'm using a spektrum spm9745 receiver, (which starts in bind mode and i have to manually bind it from my transmitter every time i plug it back in).
also, when the motor was working it was just on my desk with the blades off, so i guess i'm not entirely sure if it was *actually* working correctly, but at least it worked and seemed normal from what i could tell. if you have any ideas i'd really appreciate it.

@@Crazyshizz007 so with ikon if you want to use the governor in the software you will need to change the ESC settings to Hobbywing liner with the program box. If you don’t want to do all that. Don’t select the set gov in the ikon software and leave the Hobbywing settings alone and it will be Hobbywing gov and it works great. Just set a flat throttle curve to your liking. Meaning a 50 or 60% curve, 75% flat curve and 90% flat curve for high head speed. The Hobbywing will learn the RPM and does a good job! Let me know if that works. The reason yours looks different is because I’m going though the Vbar integration to set it up.
