  • If you’re a leathercrafter then it’s only a matter of time before someone asks you to make them a belt.
When you’re making a belt the most important thing to execute is size. In this video I explain how to figure out what length to cut your leather so that your belt ends up the desired size.

Thank you for clarifying that because now this seems so much easier and so much more simplified, and I greatly appreciate all you do for the leather tooling community. I thoroughly enjoy watching your tutorial videos and your how to because they're extremely helpful, and thank you again.

Thank you, this is what I have used for the past year. I do have a question, I hope you see this. I want to make a lined fur belt with leather end straps, (billet and where the holes are). How do I measure for that to get the fur in the correct position of the belt?

Great information as always. I usually add 11" but I also punch six holes, just seems to be what my customers want.

Thank you sir, I appreciate you taking time to watch. It sounds like we’re in the same ball park on sizing.

What oz leather do you use for your belts? Do you sew different oz together?

Most of my belts are tooled on 8/9oz and lined with 3/4oz. If I’m using just one layer then I use 11/13oz skirting leather.

Was your your a 5 hole belt? Curious, sometimes I like to go 6 or even 7 holes depending on what the primary use of the belt is, work or casual or day in good country where people bundle up need extra length

You would think that I'd figure out or after doing so many belts, but I still end up having to measure each like it was my first

I use a 5 hole pattern and aim to land you in the center hole giving adjustment both ways.
