I was a former high level tennis player in my youth and still hit up until COVID. After getting my quest 2, I was incredibly hyped after playing 11 table tennis and seeing what was possible, and first person tennis looked like exactly what I wanted. I refunded this about half an hour or after playing. The bottom line is, bounce physics of the ball are.... Okay to reasonable. The racket collision physics are light years behind 11TT. I don't mean when people complain they miss the ball and it went though their racket, I mean applying spin and or force to the ball In the current state of the game, there is no reasonably predictable way to put slice in your serve (I have a heavy slice kick server IRL, trying this in game had me simply hitting it straight down the wrong side of the court) I can't add back spin or slice my backhand or forehand, they simply result in a slower paced shot. I think that topspin has been heavily prioritised, and that's simple enough to achieve however then comes the next problem. I try to hit a soft drop shot and I end up hitting banger out. Other times I put a full racket lag shot through and I get relatively mediocre paced shot output. I also feel like the placement is off. I hit a cross court shot, get one back and now try to place a straight winner down the line, time it.... And I get essentially another cross court shot. I am not going to rate the gfx or sound that's whatever, that really doesn't worry me. Could look like superhot for all it matters. But please get the physics right! Decent game for people who have no idea how to play and just want some fun. If you are an actual tennis player who plays above a social gathering whack around, and can place the ball with serves and shots at a good pace, this isn't your training or maintenance tool by any means. I'll keep my eye on it and hope the devs work it to a polished state and I'll grab it again. For the most part everything else was fine. Cheers
Thanks dude, great to hear from someone else with a decent playing level - from your post I will more than likely have the same annoyances so will give this game a hard pass until its been updated
@@gladiatorscoops4907 no problems at all. As I said, I really wanted this to be my go-to for tennis, as my regular partner dropped off and no longer hits, so I haven't been able to play for a year or so. But the lack of control over ball delivery on the racket end is a deal breaker. Especially knowing how good 11TT does it, it's a shame. Also, when I had downloaded the game, apparently a big physics update had gone through just recently, so no idea if this made it better or worse. Look, I think maybe give it a shot if you want you can always refund like I did. You may end up liking it enough to stick to it. I play on my lawn outside, in simulation mode, with the controller attached to a real racket. When I play against an Arcade Teleporter, and I guess 95% are, it sucks. I play them a ball nobody could get, and suddenly, they jump close, but still to far to reach the ball. And yet they hit it hard, across, in a straight line, fast as an arrow, which is impossible given the movement they show. Tennis is all about reading the opponents movements... Sometimes I manage to keep the ball in play, but it goes up high in a lob. For some reason, they find it hard to hit a high ball falling to their feet. And they complain I use trick shots! In fact I never met a real player like in Eleven Table Tennis. And because Eleven online is so fantastic, this game as an online game sucks.
@@tomsawyer2112 That is lag, use a different server or choose an opponent with low ping. When the ball goes up means that you hit it with the frame of the racket. You cannot compare tennis with ping pong, they are completely two different sport.
This doesn’t look good :( Seem to lack the precision needed for making good plays or is maybe too precise making every little move of a controller to change the ball’s direction :(

Speaking from my own real life tennis experience of more than 25 years I can certainly say that while my expertise is not on a pro level that I am still well aware of good body positioning & racquet technique when it comes to my tennis swing... and this game will not allow me to do any of that in a similar way to what you'd do in real life. Fact is, the only type player who'd likely not notice anything wrong here is someone who in fact doesn't understand good body positioning and swing technique. You insist that there is no tracking issue with the Quest2 so then one can only imagine the issue goes much deeper. Maybe take a look at your hit detection or ball/racquet physics.

Tennis is so technical, there is so much to learn.
You should play back your videos and pause it as the ball nears your racquet. You would then see that you are swinging way too late.... 2nd claim that the ball went through the racquet was actually the ball passing over the racquet.... BTW.. It has other movement options. The teleport version brings you close to the ball, as does the autorun. But I think he was playing arcade mode, which is quite forgiving on your shots staying in game. When you play simulation, the ball is faster and some shots you have to work hard to return with long stretching. Also with auto run, you can still move your man with the anologue stick, say to get to the net or whatever. Tennis is easy on arcade was winning the AL tournament 6-0 6-0. Simulation only won 3 matches out around 12 matches. It makes you work.
