Really, really good. One of the best pianist I've ever heard. But her repertoire seems to fit in that room only. A smaller hall with audio phonics just the way they are. She wasn't meant to be big and splashy. What I like about her, is that she seems to be able to transform herself into the person who wrote the musical score. A very rare gift indeed. What we're looking at, is a kind of musical time machine. This is like being transported to the era in which is was composed. I'm thoroughly enjoying this. Tremendous artist. Thanks so much. Was a pleasure to sit and listen.
Omigosh! A masterpiece, masterfully played, and masterfully interpreted. When taken at the correct tempo (as this is), practically every single note is critical to the interpretation. Not only each note being emphasized correctly, but both the tempo changes and the large-scale dynamic trends are crucial to extracting the full effect of the composition. Truly one of the finest recordings available. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Why is this pianist not famous ? She's talented enough to perform in large venues and release CDs ... one of the best pianists I know of this generation
@@maxr.9837 I won't insult you like Mr. Morales did, but I have to ask: do her mistakes really detract that much from your enjoyment of the performance?
There's too many talented pianists who can play pieces of this grade just as well, and there's even an army of them in Asia. In the end popularity is more how much you expose yourself in the various forms of musicals contests, recitals...
I have been listening to this precise performance over the years, and it is my favorite out of all performances I've came across... Thank you for so many moments of bliss
I find this performance unforgettable. I'd listened to it when it was first posted by accident, and I couldn't find it again! And then about a year ago, I found it again and I've listened to it over and over again! To me, it is the most emotionally satisfying performance of Bach's Chaconne in D Minor I've ever heard! I absolutely love this.
This piece goes beyond music for me. I always keep it on hand for when my anxiety gets out of control, and it never fails to reign me in. It doesn't dampen the anxiety or distract me -- it's like it grabs hold of that stirring energy and helps focus it into something else, like riding out a wave. This performance in particular is my go-to for such times.
I’ve been listening to it at least 10 times a day for months now. Also learning it on the piano, only 4 minutes down so far. But I can agree, even after the 1000th time listening to it I will still literally tear up and have a religious experience if I focus on only the music while it’s playing. And I’m not even religious lol
What a fantastic Interpretation ! I think it is full of sublimated passion and compassion . Here, as a listener you are taken by hand to be fascinated by all the surprising areas in this musical landscape that this fine musician discovered . and
Well done. I love hearing this piece played by different pianists. You can start to really hear their individual personalities come out after you've heard it so many times. Thank you for the performance Miss.
I have difficulty relating to Bach's music, but this performance was quite entertaining. It's amazing how she can remember such a difficult piece. I find it difficult to interpret this music, because it doesn't have that "sing song melodic" effect that I look for in music: however, it is quite obvious that Virna really enjoys this style, because she performed it so magnificently. She's definitely an amazing musician!
for me, the more difficult a piece is, the easier it is to remember it. Because you have to invest so much time learning to play the difficult parts, the easy parts require almost no time and effort, no learning process in my brain when you can just play them from the sheet music without needing to reherse it until you can play it closed eyes. It's like cracking a code the composer wrote, finding out how the "music" works, recognice patterns etc. (just my personal experience.)
Wow. I can only relate to Bach. I guess people are different and it's ok. I agree there is a lot to unpack in this piece but I already have it memorized in my head and I still need to play it on my violin 😀
Virna is a magnificent pianist and obvious that she has a great love and understanding of Bach's music!! Her interpretation is unique unto her and very skilled and passionate! To me, this is what a great performance is! I think Bach himself would smile if he watched :-) BRAVO!! ~Jackie

That walk off at the end haha...like damn you just played what some will consider the most beautiful and difficult piece to play with true emotion ever and she like ran out. CONGRATS you played amazing
Amazing performance, not a composition I would've chosen to learn, such a difficult piece to play, I could watch Virna play all day though, so pretty, got a crush now😍
What a miraculous performance. Both the artist and the music flow like liquid magic - a uniquely organic and poetic rendering of this monstrous transcription. You can almost hear the music just by looking at her playing. Arguably not the most virtuosic - a few minor glitches - but definitely one of the very best out there.
Oh it happened to me! It is absolutely ok ❤️ I learned of this piece in February of this year . I heard it for the first time from Augustin Hadelich who is a violinists. And I was crying on the floor for over 30 minutes.

Very nice performance, but the bass on that piano is awful. It doesn’t have the depth and complexity I expect from a 9 foot piano. I’d say the hammers are way too hard.

Yes, Helene Grimaud, except for the option at the end. Alicia de Larrocha did that, and I prefer the original.
