  • Welcome back to MarcelianOnline! Today, we’re looking at the long awaited Unholy DK rework in the War Within alpha and boy does it improve the spec! Many talents were fixed, others were removed while some new ones made it in. The actual unholy dk gameplay is so much better now it’s insane!
    The dk hero talents complement the spec in unique ways too! Rider of the Apocalypse brings in some much needed mobility while San’layn unholy dk just floods you with resources and enables a super smooth gameplay. There is a lot to be improved when it comes to the war within dk hero talents but overall, this is great!
    There will be a lot more iterating until war within beta and we do expect more updates for the fire mage hero talents so be sure to stay subscribed to not miss out on any update!

    Raise Abomination was a pvp talent I believe I'm glad to see in the main talent tree

      @@MarcelianOnline What Blizzard need to do is bring back Raise Sludge Belcher, it should replace Ruptured Viscera this is a bad passive. What it's effect's should be is that it has 10% more damage and health, but also take 10% less damage as well. And if you have enchanted Rune of Apocalypse, it should apply 2 individual stacks of Rune of Apocalypse. This would be an awesome passive to get back to improve our undead pet and as well let us get a Death Grip on our pet again.
      If you guys ever get in touch whit Blizzard devs, pls ask them if they would consider bringing Raise Sludge Belcher back, i do miss Bob the Abom.

    This is a step up from previous iterations but I don't know why Blizzard refuses to either bake the cleave into a passive or just make DnD a aura like Remorseless Winter.

    I really hope Frost DK doesn’t have Cleaving Strikes after it rework. Using D&D to make your attacks cleave should be a mechanic for Blood and Unholy only. Frost doesn’t need the “Short Cleaving Window” gameplay.

      I doubt they will. Blizz doesnt play DKs so they dont really work on DKs...been like that since beginning of like BFA if not Legion

    On a Paler Horse wont allow you to use it in dungeons that allow mounting. its for Outdoor content, specifically for open world, -Maybe- delves but I'd have to see it to believe it. They use outdoor content as a phrase when meaning open world a lot, so even if a dungeon is outdoors it doesnt mean that

      i think this is a smooth brain move on Blizzard side, like what's wrong if we can use it indoors, but as an optional talent, how it should work inside dung/raids, it should run at normal running speed 100%, but whit on a pale horse mounted running speed buff it gets buffed up to 120% run speed, but this effect should not stack whit other movement increasing effect's.

      I don’t like it at all. As a leveling or questing talent it’s fine I guess but it’s really not impactful any other way. Shouldn’t be made into a huge deal, should be a movement talent only.

    Man i dont know the talents are cool af but i still kinda feel you are being forced to either go full aoe or ST which isnt optimal for M+ since you need both...

      Just make defile into a death aura around you and call it a day. Fixes the visibility issue plus buffs a talent that is already awesome

    Subduing grasp is actually really good for M+ and raid etc. It applies the damage reduction effect even if you cannot grip them, so bosses and such doing big huge hits in M+ you can use grip as a minor defensive.

      @@kalasmournrex1470 don't know,maybe for Blood. But UDK and Frost got no windows for that. Lose dmg for 8% damage reduction when u are basicly most tankiest class in the game. For me its a bad idea. Sounds good only in terms of pvp. But hey,maybe people loves that, I don't know. As I see DK rework nothing really changes. Only good thing that solve some problems its festermight changes, defile still sucks,still got unholy blight for some reason, DnD is still ground effect.

    Im curious about the vampire knight... Could you show us how San'Layn is gonna work? I leveled up a Dk for that. I hope Im not excited for nothing.

      occasionally procs / goes in place of during dark trans / Vampiric Blood : replaces scourge strike / heart strike on occasion with vampiric strike, just consumes dots to deal their damage, heals a bit on cast, and grants a stacking haste buff

    Right now subduing grasp works on bosses even though they don’t get pulled. Turns death grip into a mini dr vs bosses

    I want a channeled corpse explosion that does huge dam and adds a dot, should only be usable on your abom.

    The reworked Sudden Doom is fantastic in dungeons considering critical strike gains a lot of value against more targets. Epidemic crits go hard.

    Still doesn't fix the button bloat and the fix for dnd could've been so much better. The class core tree is an improvement but still needs major work.

    The talents they put in the DK area don't make any sense for Frost DK unless it's for PvP. I don't play Unholy, but they are probably in the same situation. Already, the abomination limb doesn't give a rime or unholy effect; it's not necessary for rotation anymore, and the damage is so minimal that it's not a good talent to pick. The Suppresion talent (damage taken from AOE is a PVP talent or tank), Runic protection(less chance to get critical struck and increased armor, tank / pvp ), subduing grasp(prob i will never pick abomination limb unless i need to for a specific situation ), osmosis(extra healing recived, dks are prob the most durable class and improve death strike already does the job, dont need this), blood draw(you can pick sacrifitial pact or death pact and will of the necropolist its way better talent), abomination limb(no longer rime, low dmg its not a good talent), null magic(i dont need extra magic dmg reduction, dks already have a anti magic shield and a anti magic zone with improved talents) and vestigial shell(pvp talent and maybe a high magic boss fight)... we need something else here, there is no need for any dk in pve to take them, dks already have icebound fortitude, antimagic barrier, antimagic zone and lichborne with improved talents as defensive clicks, as a dps i dont need more of those talents and dks have a lot of hp to play around and self healing. What frost needs is a good single target skill, and death and decay needs to be either a huge area that allows you to always attack ont the move or make it so that the area always follows you. You always lose 3/4 of the damage because the tanks need to kite the mobs, and they always leave the DND area. And for last, if they are not going to give us something good, at least remove the troll talents like shattering blade or inexorable assault and free some points so we can pick at least something else. I love to pick cold heart, but they remove the empowered rune weapon talent from the DK tree, so I need to pick it up in the frost tree now; there goes my one free talent point.

      Im with you here, the talent point system is just shoving us in pre defined builds. I want to choose whatever i want, period. Pre defined placement of talent points is too controlling of an environment to really have the best fun here. Also some spells need to be baseline like unholy assault for example. Why cant we have all talent points unlocked like with the new 'hero' talents????

    Ive always thought abomination limb should be a defensive skill a bunch of hands stoping all attacks, i would Even prefer it instead of the ridicolous dancing bones from bones marrow for blood

    Aren’t the main issues still the same? Opener with 20 buttons? Defile which covers any mechanics? Pretty crappy class tree, even after changes? It doesn’t look awesome - looks quite lazy - few minor changes in spec tree feels lackluster and unholy assault being capstone which is main cooldown and had to always be taken - that’s very bad. Rework is lazy and pretty minimal - compared tonorher classes rework. I know people are starving for DK reworks but let’s make it for what is really is - lazy and minimal, not solving most of the issues spec have.

      Bake Unholy blight into Dark Transform, make DnD an aura, increase damage on Soul Reaper and increase CD to balance it, it won't feel so clunky after that, delete festermight and buff our runic power spenders or wounds damage even more.
      That's the spec that I would enjoy.
      UPD: Also Unholy Frenzy ain't so fun to press, but I will take it, just pls don't let it be capstone

      I don't know which talents are the laziest, from dk, shaman or rogue, blizzard knows how to announce a "movement" and deliver nothing in the process.

    I wish they leaned more into the necromancer-esque aspects of the death knight for unholy. I understand it is meant to be the "pestilence" of the specs, with blood being famine and frost being death, with the whole horsemen of the apocalypse vibe the class has going on but it is the closest we'll likely ever get to a full necromancer. I'd love if festering wounds summoned a ghoul for a few seconds after bursting one but I know that's likely never going to be something.

    So I'm kind of happy but I hope there still cooking and not just leaving it like as is. There close but if that's it they Def cooked but took it out the oven way too early. I'm still waiting to see someone cover the one new talent I noticed which is like corpse explosion and does aoe forgot the exact name bur I hope they bring that back into the game like it was wotlk. Was actually cool seeing a dead body explode and do insane amount of damage to others or even if it did little damage but reapplied all your disease debuffs/dots or maybe a new one at that would be super cool to see... I'm happy we are at least getting some kind of attention especially after seeing what they did for monks 😅

    Proliferating chill has a hidden synergy you failed to mention...like one of the horsemen from the apocalypse allowing you to shatter chains of ice for extra aoe damage. So spreading chains and cleave strikes shattering multiple sounds pretty strong to me but i could be wrong and it doesnt work that way but if it does then sounds like a solid through put

    i love DK, but im no longer maining it
    all these changes are not substantial, basically the same class
    im a Monk now, and i will remain a Monk in the war within
    Monk will just get much better in every way with many sensible and desired changes

    unholy shoud be able to tame any undead as a pet, just like hunters, the pet thing is so limited, if you MC a undead in m+ iw way weeaker then your pet, and that is sad

    They make over a dozen changes and all of them are overtly positive or at the VERY least steps in the right direction and most of these comments are negative. If all yall care about is minmaxing why are you watching alpha build videos anyway?

    I hope they change DnD...feels so clunky and frustrating,especially when the tank pulls in another direction.
    That's the main thing that keeps my DK benched.

      DnD only change will be im affraid that when u cast it and leave it, for next 4 sec u can use cleaving strikes. or something like that. What they should add is the abomb and army should be for chosing not 2 separate talents. Also, abomb need to be placed on location we wants to not next to DK.... Otherwise dk will suck at pvp

      But the bulk of the players are casuals leveling alts solo in the world.

    You got the riding outdor in combat all wrong, its about the open world , not instances, it will not work in any dungeon or bg or arena , because its not open world, why do ppl asumed it will work in dungeons is beyond me.

    Stopped playing League of Legends after Swain rework.. Bout to do the same with WoW. Just so sick of the push back the community wants with supporting evidence for them to just push back for the sake of ....? This was not promising.
