Just now came across this older video. I felt you. I was literally saying “oh my god” outloud as you showed that assault on your crown. It is very hard to speak up when you’re in the chair and someone is in your head - I have been there. I’m going to view your new April 2019 cut now 😉. This video is a good warning, I’ll definitely do my research before I go for a cut.
I just noticed her apron said Evergreen... Was this is Wa. state? My heart hurts for you while watching this. She should've cut it dry, she would've had a better result. It's nearly impossible to cut super curly hair like she did. Ughhh.... I'm so sorry.
They used you as a tester because she's new there that's why the boss was watching her do it and that's very unprofessional that they do that to people. 😒
so i went into this african hair salon for a two strand twist, my hair was a bit tangly because i took it out of cornrows, anyway the hair stylist started combing through my hair dry, and i feel as if my hair has been broken off the way she combed my hair
Iman Amore when hair is wet it’s at its weakest. You probably need something to strengthen your hair. I’m a Licensed Cosmetologist and Natural Hair Care Stylist. I had severe breakage after taking my braids out. I started using Paul Mitchell Super Strong Liquid Treatment and the breakage stopped. When I had my hair lightened I used Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair and it worked beautifully on my lightened by not keeping it severely dry.
AND I just want to thank all of you for the positivity! and comic relief lmao. So now I'll be flooding yalls feeds with hair videos + more. Lmk if you guys want an update video after this
T'keyah B I feel you should get a lawyer since there is no cooperation with this salon this cut caused you distress plus the stylist just got out of school. Plus bad customer service.
Oh my goodness girl! My heart went out to you! But at least you are able to ROCK that cute twist out! Keep your beautiful head up! And keep the positive vibe going. Even though i know you were pissed... your good spirit still showed itself. Stay great! Love watching you!!!
My nerves were so bad watching this, blood just boiling... LORD. Because we have to fight. "It's just hair" but I've waiting YEARS to grow mine out. I appreciate you for posting this. Girl. Girllll... I would've been crying too. I know exactly how you feel.
I don't know what's so hard about saying "I'm not familiar with natural hair," or "I'm not familiar with that haircut." I've been exactly where you are. And it's so unprofessional to blame the customer.
It's all about pride. A black woman who can't do black hair? God forbid. Smh people work hard to get their hair together for these stylist to be using them as test subjects. I'd sue this lady.
Yep! 2 HORRIBLE salon visits taught me to learn my hair for MYSELF....long 4c natural hair AINT for amateurs or haters , cause YES there are stylists that HATE to see 4c hair kicking ass without a relaxer lol.. .been thriving ever since!
Exactly... I took years to grow my hair... I'm not gonna just let a random stranger chop or burn off my hair in ten minutes.... I don't trust stylists cus u just never know what you'll get... some are good some are a hot damn mess... I'll do my own hair.... so sorry this happened to you honey.
I find that when growing out natural hair when it's short, no one wants to mess with you, as soon as you get some length, everyone wants to do your hair, handing out business cards that you never asked for. I've been natural and doing my own hair for 2 years, I have heard so many horror stories that I will never let anyone do my hair but me.
It's the truth. I was getting my hair straightened for a trim about one year after I went natural and the stylist literally tore my hair apart from the wash alone. Then a woman came in with a similar hair texture but it was longer and the stylist took about 30 minutes to wash her hair while I had to wait in the chair smh
Keep it that way, Iam a stylist, and my daughter and I have natural long hair, and honestly there is no time to properly treat natural hair in salons, time is really money,
Report the owner to the Board of Cosmetology. She cannot be hiring people to work in her shop if they don't have a license. Let THEM handle it. AND the owner was sitting across from you as you were getting your hair done? Let them know thar she WAS a witness to what happened. So is your camera. You can also take her to Small Claims Court for damages.
Wow I should have done that 2016 I was scared that I would get bashed by many people and I wouldn't win since at the time I was 29 and might not have tplen me serious now I'm 31 I learn a lot
My thought exactly! Her license is supposed to be visibly posted also, correct? I am so sorry that happened to you as my grandmother used to say, some stylists are "cut happy" lol
Well for a while i (over)used shea butter and it kind of made my hair thinner and more brittle...it happens to every woman in my family if we use too much shea butter... i don't know if its a generalize thing
This absolutely isn't funny at all, but when you kept saying "Hey Arnold" i was dyingggg😫 But girrllllll i can't believe that! See?!! That's why i don't let ANYONE touch my dog on hair smh people can't be trusted man. Nor do they act like they care cause it doesn't affect them since it's not their hair smh. Like u said though, you're the bounce back queen and i know you'll make it through... sorry this happened to u though ma'ma.
THANKS BOO! it's funny af to me now because I can at least style it but I was ready to risk it all once the manger called me acting a ass girl. She gave 0 fux about my experience and it caught me so off guard
T'keyah B this reminds me when I was in 6 grade and I wanted to go natural on my own everyone kept saying I was too young no one had time for it so I agreed to a trxturizer cause it wasn't as had as a perm plus perm never really fully straightened my hair cause my hair is so thick and the "stylist" permed my hair and burned my scalp she tried wrapping it to hide it and put that black paper thing around it she refused to let me see my hair claiming she already wrapped it so it would mess it up remind you I'm in six grade so I didn't think nun of it I got home and the next day I had a big headache at school and went to nurses office cause it was so bad as the nurse goes to put ice on me she found hard yellow bumps all over my head . I had chemical perm and I just wanted to cry. Ever since that day I watched UA-cam videos and learned to do my own hair and haven't trust a SOUL to touch my hair since
Girl, after watching your video and strolling through the comments, I must say that you did right by doing this video and not just creating a story time with no video receipts to prove your visit. I know all too well about botched cuts too and you will bounce back with time.
Thank you love! Once I saw the response I knew I made the right decision. A lot of people in Seattle are saying they've heard terrible things about this shop in the Facebook group
Dont do it! Do not let nobody play in your hair. Periodt. Just watch UA-cam vids and teach yourself..that is your best option. I have have been natural 5 years years and yes it's been rough but it's worth it.
You are the only person that I know on here, who give the stylists named and hair salon on who to avoid so that other women would avoid it with all costs. Other people they claimed they want to tell you the truth, but don't give the beauty salon named or the hairstylists named. They all got to make the name up. In the meantime they could have just told so that other women could avoid it as well. I really thank you for being so honest about these types of situations. Because people know that they do wrong but don't want to admit it.
I have tailbone length hair. It didn't get that length overnight. I have been home-cutting my hair for over a decade, for good reason. Back when I graduated almost 20 years ago (I'm 45), a student-stylist (I had no clue it was a student) cut my hair in 80s layers. I looked like a singer from a rock band, bangs and all! I called the manager and then it came out that she was only a student who had cut my hair, and the manager corrected it for me. I came out with an ear length bob with super short bangs, and my mom when she went to come pick me up was shocked!!! I had bra strap length hair too before all that. So yes, you bet now I cut it myself!
OH HELL NO! I went to the stylists instagram and it looks like she just got out of school so I'll be reporting them because this is ridiculous! Where do you get your hair sheers?
I'm from Belgium, so I got them at a beauty supply store local to me (well, The Netherlands but they ship to BE). They are "Ultron" shears but I think they are only sold in the EU. I've had them ever since I started cutting my hair for real (so 10+ years) and they are still doing just fine (no need to ever sharpen them). They are pro shears though. The Mane choice do shears like it, they are good quality I hear (I can't vouch for that though, but ask around a bit). I'll link the Mane Choice ones for you: themanechoice.com/products/shear-surgical-precision-professional-cut-split-end-eliminator
her apron should have been a dead giveaway for you. Evergreen is in Everett and I went there to get my locs colored and ended up doing it myself while their students stood around gawking and they still wanted to charge me!
Girl, we have to learn to be more vocal when these so called stylist are doing who knows what to our hair. I don't think I will be going to a salon any time soon.
I used to get relaxers all the time and after an over processed experience by a student at the salon I started going to this girl jersey . She has since nursed my hair from relaxed and transitioned me all the way to natural. Been fully natural for 3 years and it was a white woman who handled my natural texture better than anybody I've ever gone too she's even licensed on deva cuts. Just because you are African American doesn't mean you naturally know everything about natural hair as a stylist. Even I had to research my shit before I went natural 🙄. I don't know some stylist just have a know it all attitude but it sucks when you're the one who has the bad outcome smh .
50k Hai thank you for sharing this comment. Cosmetology school does not teach how to handle/cut naturally curly hair. I have 3 b/c curly hair and refuse to go get a haircut. From 30-45 I fought my curls, as always told I looked “wild”. Mind you my hair was constantly soaking wet with a leave in and a gel/mousse product that left my hair crunchy. I conditioned everyday in the shower because when I woke up it looked like I stuck my finger in a socket but was still wet from the morning before. So I did Japanese straightening resulting in skin cancer at my scalp line. Stopped that after a couple of years. Then went to get blowouts, with a flat iron after the blowout, and then a flat iron to create large curls. So I’m trying to get my curl pattern back. Trying deva curl products. The right mixture of products and application is very important. I haven’t gotten the hang of it yet, but it’s not crunchy and lasts a long time. I refresh when I should be washing at this point. And my daughter has 2c curls/ waves but very thick. I made an appointment with a highly rated white stylist (she picked him by his Instagram pictures), and the second she walked in he said “your hair is textured I can’t touch that”. Basically throwing us out. She cried for days after. So after all this rambling my point is the color of stylists skin doesn’t mean they know how to cut curly hair, or don’t know how to cut curly hair. Don’t mind my picture. It’s years old during the blowout and double flat iron to straighten and curl time period. And good stylists know if they do a good job, they will have a forever client. That one and done doesn’t build a client base
This is why its so hard to support some black businesses, its sad that they treat paying customers that way after they did a bad job. Like just own up to it, you messed up the customers hair, let down your pride. I'm so sorry you had to go through this T'keyah
I went to a salon and asked for a pixie cut and I left looking like somebody grand mammy. Got a sew in and that sucker didn't last two weeks. Shame on them because I was going to be a regular client. Black businesses lots of them lack customer service skills.
M ah OMG! I learned that in Cosmetology school. I use to think all black people knew how to do Black hair. I have my Natural Hair Care and Cosmetology license. I also take classes for extra training. I found out that a lot of other Cosmetologists do not do any extra training after Cosmetology school. I was shocked.
Omg yesss!! I was just saying this because something similar happen to me with braids and they wouldn’t even do the parts over or give me a partial refund until I got in touch with the owner. They’re just so quick to dismiss you when you have a problem. Like fuck you, we already got your money 🙄
The minute you feel unsure in a salon or uncomfortable.. say something. If they still dont listen... or its not going the way you like.. JUST LEAVE! We as women place blind trust in a stylist and stay to take it. There is no shame in saying.. "Nahh ill rebook my appointment for the stylist i was intended for." No shame! Why? Cuz its YOUR hair at the end of the day.
Don't beat yourself up about it. But now you know. Anytime you're spending your money, and have to be the one walking around with it, you make sure it's about you and your feelings, and not anyone else's. Love your videos !!
I think it is scary every time anybody with curly hair gets a haircut. I have had a few that left me in tears. Great video. Keep your spirits up. Hair always grows back thank goodness.
DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE TOUCH YOUR HAIR. Lol! I am so sad for you right now. Do your braid outs and just keep it straight. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and it upsets me that they did you like this. Ugh! I'm soooo irritated for you! I have literally NEVER used a fine toothed comb on curly hair. EVER. Like WTF?! You can't cut curly hair like straight hair because It. Is. Not. The. Same. Whew. I'm getting so heated for you listening to how things went down. OMGGGGGG she did NOT! "Have you been to cosmetologist school?" I would have been like BIH, have YOU?! I literally can't. Don't go back there. Lol. Get a refund and keep it moving. Don't let anyone from there touch your hair or "fix" it. Nope. I support Black businesses all day every day... but that doesn't mean you have to go back to a place where you had a bad experience.
Oh naw I told her on the phone I wouldn't step foot in that place even if they payed me. She was literally refusing the refund saying "you're not even letting us correct the situation" we talked for 30+ minutes... arguing over my money it was crazy.
wait, so the lady said she didn't remember speaking with you and making the appointment, but the turned around and mentioned you saying your hair was damaged when you went to make the appointment? So she did remember and knows they fucled up. This is one time i definitely recommend putting the salon on blast.
I know this video is 2 years old, but I used shea butter on my hair for like 3+ years and it did NOT get straighter. That stylist had no idea wtf she was talking about
This is why I DONT FK WITH STYLIST!!!!! Male, Female, Black, White, Asian, Dominican, Alien....... HELL NO!!!! I would have snatched the "purple people eater" tha fk up!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry this happened to you love!!! 🤦🏾♀️ I can't wait for your come back though🙌🏾🙌🏾💁🏾.....my thoughts, tell us the name of the salon and the name of the stylist. I just wanna talk!🤷🏾♀️
The bounce back will happen hahahahaha I edited out A LOT because I really flamed them & decided to take out a few tragic events because the owner called and apologized + offered to refund the money and fix my hair. I will never go back, but I'm waiting to hear about my MONEY AND TIP
My mom has only had males do her hair and brows her whole life. She said she doesn't let females because they are jealous and a man knows how a woman should look .
FYI my natural sisters PeakMill has several videos on her channel shaping and cutting curly wigs. I have used her method for several years now to shape my own hair and it has been successful every time. When I need a trim I put my hair into fairly even medium sized twists and trim the ends. Trust me, you can absolutely maintain your curly hair yourself. From big chop to 5 years+ I have never done wrong by me.
Well they don't teach natural hair in cosmo school anyway . It's more about sanitation . Its a lot of people with licenses that do horrible hair . So her having a license wouldn't have mattered . She just wasn't experienced at ALLL and didnt know what she was doing . You can tell she was lost the entire cut
farrin Kane exactly. Luckily I I went in school with knowledge but I paid nearly $3K for Deva training (education, room and board) and worked with a curly tyrant for 7 months. 😂
I'm so sorry this happened to u. I've had this experience in the past and I no longer care abt being rude especially when ur providing a service to me that I'm not happy with. I recently went to get my hair braided and she tried to blow dry my hair on high heat with a rat tail comb😒 I nicely stopped her ass and told her either braid it in the current state or don't touch me. She claimed my hair had to be straight to braid it. Like bitch bye! You live and learn. Your braid outs look cute so at least u were able to work with it because you're experienced with ur hair.
Honestly i understand why they want to do it blow dried (I prefer when they blow dry it because it also make box braids look neater and less fly out) but they need to respect you and atleast do it properly (heat protectant, small sections, wide tooth comb etc)
TKeyah B they are like that because they want to get done as quickly as possible. They don't want to take the time to detangle and braid softly without snatching your edges. It's about that dollar!
Nope nope nope. I’ve been doing my own hair (cuts, dyes, texturizers, trims, braids, wigs, sew-ins, etc.) for 5 years. I’ve done some botched jobs and have had to regrow my hair out, but I refuse to let anyone (stylist, family or otherwise) touch my hair. It’s all a learning process and no one knows your hair like you do. It’ll come back, this is just a momentary setback.
My natural salon here in NC is amazing. They give you the estimated length of time for your service, complimentary snacks, coffee, and tea, and all the stylists are great. Come here, girl! Taji Salon in Raleigh!
Omgoodness watching this makes me feel like I experienced this myself :( Im so with you on not wanting to be rude when you're in the salon chair, but when it comes to your hair that you've worked so hard to grow and maintain sometimes it is very much needed. This is just further confirmation for me to continue to keep doing my own hair. At least if I mess it up, it'll be at my own hands and not the hands of someone else! The great part about hair is that it grows back and I am so looking forward to see how your hair bounces back from this debacle.
Can you send your story to IAMTREAH on UA-cam she does natural hair horror stories and you would just email her and she would read your story on UA-cam and I think it would just be good do let other people know your experience and even maybe send her some pictures :)
Noooooo!!!! Omg I'm so pissed for you like wtf? I'm so tired of seeing these videos of Naturals hair being fucked up. Sadly it's true... Black Owned Business can be very unprofessional and uninformed and that forces us to go elsewhere 🤷🏾♀️
I'm white and have curly hair and they fu*¥£ it up every time,it takes a specialist to cut curly hair, they should be straightforward and not do it. I'm.sorry for what happened to you. I think that if you can get a good stylist you could pull off a shorter look, you'd look really cute
This is why I'm so afraid to get my hair done by "natural stylists" a lot of them lie and say they know what they're doing but they don't. There is nothing wrong with saying you're not qualified to do something. We take years to grow our hair and stylists want to play games and experiment on you.
Im in cos school and what she gave you was a "school cut" a layered cut that we do for our state board on our dolls even my instructor told us that its an ugly cut that would never happen or work on curly hair!! IM SO SORRY this happened to you.. :( she should have cut your hair while it was dry and just used shears to shape your hair in its NATRURAL DRY STATE!!! Ughh!!! I feel for you girl..
Hey Ms. T'keyah, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I just couldn't imagine how you're feeling. I hope, well I know you'll be able to nurse your hair back to its fullness & beauty. You're one of the reasons I've decided to go natural - that & because my depression has taught me to hate everything about myself, including my hair - & I watch your videos religiously. I've been natural for about 3-4 months now & I haven't been to a salon since. This is a very important message to our natural sisters out there. Thank you for sharing your journey. Don't let this botched visit deter you. Stay beautiful, natural & strong. ❤
When I got my natural cut I asked for a natural style and secretly the lady put a PERM in my hair I was so upset because i had to start all over and ive had breakage ever since
I couldn't see how horrible the cut was until I reviewed the footage and my hair dried... At the salon I knew the fine toothed comb was ridiculous, but once she put all of that custard in it and I saw the cut I assumed I could define it at home after I washed it BUT I was wrong af,, that's why I went in with water at the end myself, but I'm waiting to hear back about my FULL refund
I feel you sis. It gone be alright. Lesson learned. Platt your hair up and simply dust trim the ends. You don't use heat so you don't Really have split ends. Your a good 3B / 3C curl pattern It'll grow back quick.
Agreed! I did an oil treatment & protein treatment before the last clip and my hair bounced back. Now I'll just keep growing it out & taking y'all on the journey
T'keyah B I promise you that hair cut was GOALS (I tried to recreate it on my own hair)..... Can't judge the book by the cover.... But no worries like you said, you will bounce back
T'keyah B a side part on this shape looks really good. I TOTALLY understand that it is not what you asked for. You are making lemonade out of those lemons.
girl I was devastated the first two days, but my hair grows quickly and after the protein treatment I did it felt better so there's no sense in dwelling ya know. I watched the footage back and was dying laughing. I had to edit a lot out because I went hard on them lmao
I'm the same way. I know I can be loud and come off a bit aggressive so I'm scared to speak up because I don't want to make a scene either. Just do braid outs and buns for the winter and binge watch a few UA-cam videos and trim your hair yourself in a few months. I'm so sorry this happened.
Girl I feel you. I went in for a trim once and came out with so many spaces and uneven areas in my hair. It’s taken me months to get it looking descent without chopping off my length. I still go on tangents about it like every other week even though it happened in September. I’ve been wearing protective styles so I don’t get the urge to chop it off. Btw she might have used cheap scissors. As a tip, good scissors do not make any noise when the blades slide pass each other. Bad scissors will cause your ends to split and tangle after you get a cut.
I usually dont comment on post. I am so sorry you had to go through this. The shea butter comment is so not true. I have been using it for the past 4 years and my hair is still very curly.
It's actually overuse of coconut oil that changes the texture of curly hair.. I know for a fact because it happened to me.. I literally big chopped as if I was relaxed. She isn't knowledgeable at all 🙄
The shea butter statement she made is a myth in my opinion. I googled it to see what I could find. Shea butter can "smooth" hair but not straighten it. I am so sorry this happened to you girl. Something similar happened to me 2 years ago. Still trying to grow my hair out, my hair grows incredibly slow 😢😔
I WENT TO THE DOMINICANS OVER A YEAR AGO... AND I HAVE NOT BEEN BACK SINCE!! I HAD SO MUCH HEAT DAMAGE!!! I BOTCHED MY OWN HAIR TRYING TO GET THE HEAT DAMAGE OUT!! MY HAIR IS FINE NOW...I NEED A PROFESSIONAL TRIM... BUT I AM ULTIMATELY TRAUMATIZED... AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHY BLACKS CAN'T BUILD TOGETHER AND FLOURISH NOW... THAT WAS JUST CARELESS... I'M SORRY HUN 😢
LJ LJLJ I went to the Dominicans too in October and they cut tf out my hair like my hair was to my armpits and it went to my collar bone but I was mad asf but my hair grew back now it’s back past my armpits again they piss me off they too damn scissor happy and black people too 😂
Genesis B. The Dominicans I go to use ALOT of heat but they're not scissor happy. I only had experiences with black people trying to make me cut of more length.
DO NOT GO BACK !!!! I have never gone to a salon nor do i ever have the intention of going to one, Ambrosia Malbrough has a great tutorial on how she cuts her own hair and it is fabulous. I cut my hair myself, it's a damn shame that this fools call themselves natural hairstylists and they don't know what they are doing. Also, I don't understand why the owner did not cut your hair if she was right there.
BISI1984 But Ambrosia got her hair cut before when shorter so he hair already had different lengths . She basically showed how to maintain it without mentioning she's been to a salon before
I had a similar experience getting my "big chop" at a salon in Brooklyn called De Luxe. I was transitioning for MANY months and I had an appointment there to have them clip my relaxed ends yet some how left the salon damn near bald and in tears with them BEGGING me to take my money back and even offered to call me a cab home so I wouldn't have to be seen on the subway!! That was 6 years ago and I've NEVER been back to a natural salon for a cut since.
I don't mean to laugh! But your facial expressions and commentary are hilarious! I had a similar experience but before the stylist fucked me up I got up and walked out, for me it started with that damn wide tooth come! I know it would go down hill, so I had to rise up and exit left!
this is why im so scared to let someone else do my hair because since natural hair is so popular now all these beauticians are claiming to be knowledgeable in doing natural hair. im so sorry that happened to you
Girl I totally feel you. A few years back, i went to a salon to get my hair blowdried. My hair was flourishing and growing. I went in for a TRIM and the lady gave me a full blown neck-length bob cut . Never again! You'll get through it girl.
see naw that's tew much! How can you even open a business and operate like this smh

Bummer, just use a good shampoo and conditioner, a little growth oil on your scalp and wear your hair pulled up. Hopefully you will see growth in about 3 months. Don't even ho for a trim use a split end mender. Good luck.
I understand, this is part of growing up. I've experienced a lot of issues like this and others, if you start speaking up immediately you'll start feeling better about yourself
This is why I don't trust stylists to trim my hair. I've been growing my hair for six years- it's almost to my waist- and I'll be DAMNED if a stylist ruins my progress.
I'm literally 3 minutes into the video and I'm actually pissed tf off... I've had a horrible experience with salons and one "beautician" even made all my hair fall out that's why I went natural but giiirrlllll I'm so mad watching this video 😩 like whhhyyy she do that tho 🤔
I never let women cut my hair and the only women who have ever had their hands in my hair are my sister's. I have been natural since 2008 my stylists is male and he's been cutting my hair since I was fourteen. He always takes the time to make sure he understands how you want your hair before he touches it. Throughout the process he is conferring with the customer. I absolutely love him
Even though your hair cut didn't go as planned you're super beautiful and you have amazing skin! I'm jealous! So if you have any secrets to your facial routine I would love to know ☺
Thank you for your honesty. To be honest, it doesn't really look that bad, Sis. With your personality, I'm sure you are gonna rock that style even though it's not what you wanted. Thanks for sharing.
Girl, I feel like crying for you seriously. I live in Atlanta and have been natural for 10 years... I have yet to find a decent "natural" hair salon. In fact, ALL of my setbacks are due to the "natural" hair salons (Ill throw a name out there (too groovy) and some others to be exact). I am so frustrated and can't understand why the salons claim to be natural! My number one complaint is when they pull out a stupid rat tail comb to go through my thick hair and then try to explain/argue with me that they have to use it to get all the splits out!?? They dont section my hair, they don't detangle it first, they style my hair as if I have a freaking relaxer. Man I am getting pissed off as I am writing this. Then the annoying part is when other naturals try to tell you or recommend salons as if they can help me on my journey. My hair should be to my ankles but I am still at shoulder length, everytime I see results, I try to find a salon to trim my ends and I end up leaving with dry, overheated thin hair. I am so over it and have just come to the conclusion that I have to do everything myself (along with prayer).
I have my hair cut in a tapered cut and went to a hair stylist and told her I just wanted it shaped or cut down a little. Omg! She cut the sides of my hair while it was wet and when it dried 😩. I had so many patches . I looked a mess, I had to call my barber and have him come to my house and cut my hair. I had to get my side cut so short on the sides. Even after getting my sides cut really low, I still had patches in my head. Never again! Thank gawd! I don't mind being bald headed 😩
I feel your pain. I have wavy hair and I always ask if they know how to cut wavy curly hair. THEY WILL ALWAYS SAY YES then they wet my hair and cut it like it is straight, then they blow dry and iron/ stretch my hair straight. After I get home and wash all they products out and try to get my waves/curls to bounce back; I realize it is FUBAR. layers are all wacky with hair different lengths. And they cut through my curls!
I've learned to speak up, I'm paying for it, so you WILL do it how I wanted, and I will get the person I asked for. People will do whatever if you don't speak up. She was cutting it like you asked for a trim or something.
See & I love my outspoken ways, but I felt like I was in good hands because the owner was in the next chair watching the whole thing.. that clearly meant nothing and they were just messy
Oh no this is why I don't go to salons! Sorry this happened queen. Minor step back for a major come back, it will flourish again in no time! But I do hope you get your coin back or some type of resolve for this issue.
I have been here 3 times by 3 different stylist...I'm trying to understand when a "trim" equals a full out hair cut ...I cried too...we work so hard to retain and grow it our hair...it sucks but yes we can make lemonade out of lemons and it will grow back and this too shall pass. 💜💜💜
Y'all don't worry, here's my NEW CURLY CUT APRIL 2019 :) ua-cam.com/video/3PlrUmQM7uA/v-deo.html
you should really sue them because that shameful
Just now came across this older video. I felt you. I was literally saying “oh my god” outloud as you showed that assault on your crown. It is very hard to speak up when you’re in the chair and someone is in your head - I have been there. I’m going to view your new April 2019 cut now 😉. This video is a good warning, I’ll definitely do my research before I go for a cut.
Name of the salon?
I got a haircut from a professional and she butchered my hair and I’m still recovering.
I just noticed her apron said Evergreen... Was this is Wa. state?
My heart hurts for you while watching this.
She should've cut it dry, she would've had a better result. It's nearly impossible to cut super curly hair like she did. Ughhh.... I'm so sorry.
Very true. "Black owned" absolutely does not equal "for natural hair."
Samantha-M. Yep
👏👏👏👏
It's so sad that, there's black beauticians that doesn't know how to style OUR OWN NATURAL HAIR? It's crazy...
yep
Right
They used you as a tester because she's new there that's why the boss was watching her do it and that's very unprofessional that they do that to people. 😒
so i went into this african hair salon for a two strand twist, my hair was a bit tangly because i took it out of cornrows, anyway the hair stylist started combing through my hair dry, and i feel as if my hair has been broken off the way she combed my hair
Stay away from this hell hole these bitches sucks very unprofessional don't support this shit hole
@@jeanettethrash3378 Jesus take the wheel
Exactly! You are supposed to bring your own tester. Family /friends. Not "test" on a paying customer. That's a major liability.
For anyone who lives in Seattle the shop is I AM NATURAL BEAUTY on rainier and the stylist was Anjelic Smith! Avoid her.
T'keyah B I'm glad you gave the shop name. Some youtubers be like "we don't want to give bad business and drama" bless you
T'keyah B Im gonna call them on Tuesday and cuss their asses out. They have some damn nerves
Gurl! It's not "just hair" it's your hair!!! Let it happen to them and see how that goes
Exactly, I had those same reactions while watching this.
I don't know what's so hard about saying "I'm not familiar with natural hair," or "I'm not familiar with that haircut." I've been exactly where you are. And it's so unprofessional to blame the customer.
That's all she had to say!!
aholsey w
It's all about pride. A black woman who can't do black hair? God forbid. Smh people work hard to get their hair together for these stylist to be using them as test subjects. I'd sue this lady.
Sooooo.... That's the perfect example of why I cut and trim my own hair.... if I mess it up then I'm the only one responsible smh
BlueLily188 Exactly! I do the same ‼️
Yep! 2 HORRIBLE salon visits taught me to learn my hair for MYSELF....long 4c natural hair AINT for amateurs or haters , cause YES there are stylists that HATE to see 4c hair kicking ass without a relaxer lol.. .been thriving ever since!
ditto. we are going to have to get it done professionaly some time hough. im working up to it.
Exactly... I took years to grow my hair... I'm not gonna just let a random stranger chop or burn off my hair in ten minutes.... I don't trust stylists cus u just never know what you'll get... some are good some are a hot damn mess... I'll do my own hair.... so sorry this happened to you honey.
This!!!
08:02 not true she's out of line for even letting that ish come out of her mouth.
NappyFu TV NappyFu!👋
Hi!!!
why is this out of line?
Hey!!!! Kam
Hey there!!!! Sheka.
FACTS
yesss to the "handing out business cards you never asked for" that has happened to me too many times!
Keep it that way, Iam a stylist, and my daughter and I have natural long hair, and honestly there is no time to properly treat natural hair in salons, time is really money,
Speak the truth, I had someone offer to pay for me to go to a salon and I'm like no honey. I've been thriving on my own you ain't about to jack me up😂
Report the owner to the Board of Cosmetology. She cannot be hiring people to work in her shop if they don't have a license. Let THEM handle it.
AND the owner was sitting across from you as you were getting your hair done? Let them know thar she WAS a witness to what happened. So is your camera.
You can also take her to Small Claims Court for damages.
Crisszilla 100% agree!!!
Nah well really she cant, they work under her license while in school, so that won’t work
Wow I should have done that 2016 I was scared that I would get bashed by many people and I wouldn't win since at the time I was 29 and might not have tplen me serious now I'm 31 I learn a lot
My thought exactly! Her license is supposed to be visibly posted also, correct? I am so sorry that happened to you as my grandmother used to say, some stylists are "cut happy" lol
Skylersthelimit only if it’s a beauty school and she’s been informed.
shea butter does what? the lie detector determines That's a Lie!
DaNiyah Goodwin 🤣
😆
Actually it's kind of true...
Nadira B tell me how
Well for a while i (over)used shea butter and it kind of made my hair thinner and more brittle...it happens to every woman in my family if we use too much shea butter... i don't know if its a generalize thing
Ever since that day I watched UA-cam videos and learned to do my own hair and haven't trust a SOUL to touch my hair since
ThePrettySweety OMG.. my heart is breaking reading your HORROR story.. I am so FEELING you on your decision for doing your OWN hair!!
Halfrican Beaute yes I didn't want to keep laughing but it was funny.
Halfrican Beaute I love you😍😍. And I love your hair too.
You're so much like me. I'll let someone fuck me up for the simple fact that I don't want to be rude 😂 We gotta NOT be that person.
I wish I would've seen how uneven it was before I got home.. I just assumed I'd be able to style it myself but yeah no
Madison G I'm the same and got my hair fucked 2 or 3 times
Madison G I'm the same way, so this is kinda scaring me since I have an appointment for a trim soon.
Same 😞 it sucks!
T'keyah B I've done that before...more than once. Ended up with hella breakage.
This is why I'm afraid to get my natural hair done. I'll be damned if I invest in growing my hair for 3 yrs, to go to a salon & get it fzcked up.
Dont do it! Do not let nobody play in your hair. Periodt. Just watch UA-cam vids and teach yourself..that is your best option. I have have been natural 5 years years and yes it's been rough but it's worth it.
Tania Jones girl me too. I'm so nervous. I need a cut bad. So I've been researching for 2 years. And I'm still scared.
IMA NEED A "I PULLED BACK UP TO THIS JANKY ASS SALON" VLOG
hahahahahaha let's see how things go first
myakay1 facts!
myakay1 lol!!Me too!
You should've known by her crochet braids.......
AWWWWWW I'm done hahahahaha
Lmfaoooo girl stop 😂😂😂
whatever judith how? I'm a Curly/Natural Specialist and I also install crochet, braids, curly weaves and I also do my own.
Lavida Loves Coils yours may look great though hers was busted
Lmao!! That part
Thank you!
her apron should have been a dead giveaway for you. Evergreen is in Everett and I went there to get my locs colored and ended up doing it myself while their students stood around gawking and they still wanted to charge me!
Loretta, that's horrendous. You having to do things yourself! Might as well not go, stay in the comfort of your home and just deal with it. :)
Girl, we have to learn to be more vocal when these so called stylist are doing who knows what to our hair. I don't think I will be going to a salon any time soon.
Question! Why didn't the owner stop her when she saw her doing it wrong?
That manager could've got smacked too ,
Very true!!!!
The braid out is cute though!!
Thanks boo!
T'keyah B sorry doll I had tears running down my face! The hey Arnold got me good. Bounce back queen - you do that!
Grand mammy lmaooo
The minute you feel unsure in a salon or uncomfortable.. say something. If they still dont listen... or its not going the way you like.. JUST LEAVE! We as women place blind trust in a stylist and stay to take it. There is no shame in saying.. "Nahh ill rebook my appointment for the stylist i was intended for." No shame! Why? Cuz its YOUR hair at the end of the day.
How is she blaming you for not speaking up !? NO MATTER WHO DOES THE HAIR, THEY'RE A REPRESENTATION OF THE SHOP! WTH!?
They had nothing else they could blame me for I guess
these people are completely unprofessional! Do not go to "I AM Natural Beauty Salon" in Seattle WA
Don't beat yourself up about it. But now you know. Anytime you're spending your money, and have to be the one walking around with it, you make sure it's about you and your feelings, and not anyone else's. Love your videos !!
Thank you love
This is why I cut and take care of my own hair. Nobody loves my hair like I do. But I see in the last picture you worked it out looks good
I think it is scary every time anybody with curly hair gets a haircut.
T'keyah B Girrrrrrrrrrrl. I can't with that situation. Smh.
T'keyah B if you go back you might end up bald hell no run me money and stay out my life!!
LMAO factsss
SkinnyGirlFatHair girl I'm sorry..this is why I never let anyone touch my hair..I even cut it myself..:(
wait, so the lady said she didn't remember speaking with you and making the appointment, but the turned around and mentioned you saying your hair was damaged when you went to make the appointment? So she did remember and knows they fucled up.
This is one time i definitely recommend putting the salon on blast.
this was so hard for me to watch! i hope you report that A. haha
DONE
She did a great job actually,
From the time I see a stylist with a fine toothed comb for kinky coily hair..... NO MAAM... that already tells me the stylist is clueless...
Nasha L0VETv Listen.... Just one cute little exchange!
The bounce back will happen hahahahaha I edited out A LOT because I really flamed them & decided to take out a few tragic events because the owner called and apologized + offered to refund the money and fix my hair. I will never go back, but I'm waiting to hear about my MONEY AND TIP
That's y I do my own hair and don't fuck with these stylist
Nasha L0VETv me too gurl I'd be dammed
That's exactly what I saw once I reviewed the footage smfh
farrin lampkin Correct.
farrin Kane exactly. Luckily I I went in school with knowledge but I paid nearly $3K for Deva training (education, room and board) and worked with a curly tyrant for 7 months. 😂
FINE TOOTH COMB DOSE NOT BELONG IN A NATURAL HAIR KIT.. FINE TOOTHED COMB DOSE NOT BELONG IN A NATURAL HAIR KIT
Shea Butter does what ?? It makes natural hair do what ??? Oh no ma’am 🙅🏽♀️
Kelis Mcleod I would have gotten up and left 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
LAWSUIT! I WILL ✂ A BIH ABOUT MY HAIR!
Why are they like that?? You're being prideful with MY hair girl no.. ahhhh I wish I stopped her shit
Oh I learned a lot! Never again
DanniAllyssa exactly. If i mess up my own hair then I can't blame nobody but myself. I'm not about to allow somebody else to fuck up my hair
If you ain't my momma your NOT TOUCHING MY HAIR PERIOD
Can you send your story to IAMTREAH on UA-cam she does natural hair horror stories and you would just email her and she would read your story on UA-cam and I think it would just be good do let other people know your experience and even maybe send her some pictures :)
I've seen those! I'll check it out girl :)
Noooooo!!!! Omg I'm so pissed for you like wtf? I'm so tired of seeing these videos of Naturals hair being fucked up. Sadly it's true... Black Owned Business can be very unprofessional and uninformed and that forces us to go elsewhere 🤷🏾♀️
smfh I wanted to be positive and support them but they pushed me too far girl it has gotten so messy on their part
Same problem different country [nl] they don t give a fuck
I'm white and have curly hair and they fu*¥£ it up every time,it takes a specialist to cut curly hair, they should be straightforward and not do it.
I'm.sorry for what happened to you. I think that if you can get a good stylist you could pull off a shorter look, you'd look really cute
You tipped her too 🤦🏾♀️ oh no baby
Rose water , olive oil and peppermint oil! Mix in a spray bottle wash and go and twist outs for now.
Yes! I've been using a rose water + aloe vera juice mix and essential oils
Yp that's an amazing mix!
Hey where do you guys get your rose water
@@TkeyahB where do you get your rose water
Thank you love :)
well we're going to be growing our hair out now. a lot of hair videos will be coming because of this!
Sad to say I naturally was born with the hey Arnold afro😂😭
When I got my natural cut I asked for a natural style and secretly the lady put a PERM in my hair I was so upset because i had to start all over and ive had breakage ever since
Wait......you tipped her???? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
It definitely will but I need all parts of my money back lmao
Stay away from cuts! You can try to cut your own hair in shape.
Agreed! I did an oil treatment & protein treatment before the last clip and my hair bounced back. Now I'll just keep growing it out & taking y'all on the journey
Should've just went back to the white lady.... she did a great job the first time
UMM HELLO!!!! BIG FACTS lmao
You are making lemonade out of those lemons.
my hair is too short in the back girl no buns for a hot minute
I'm sorry but the other lady had me laughing 😂.
This is why I'm anti salon🤦🏾♀️🙅🏽So sorry this happened to you. Do NOT go back. Let it be a lesson learned. It'll grow back 👍🏾
“And now I look like hey Arnold”😂😂😂😂I’m cryingggg
That's why I just do my hair myself. You can't trust nobody
facts
Your braidout came out cute! So sorry this happened .. I would call every day until I got my money back !
Pfff, if that were true about shea butter, I'd have straight hair, and I have quite a loose texture already.
Marleen G. I think they just meant it weighs your hair down if you use a lot.
Ash O That ain't what they said tho lmao
Grace Coleman Yes, either they don't understand how chemistry works or they're hoping you don't.
When you laughed and said “haaaa she fucked my shit up” I laughed so hard and subscribed!!
So sorry this happened to you! At least you gave some comedic relief while telling the story lmfao
girl I was devastated the first two days, but my hair grows quickly and after the protein treatment I did it felt better so there's no sense in dwelling ya know. I watched the footage back and was dying laughing. I had to edit a lot out because I went hard on them lmao
It does look crazy. The horror. But keep treating it and it will grow back out.
This is why I do my own hair--and IF I mess it up then--oh well--I DID IT!--Not anyone else!!!
I'm so sorry that happened to you. Yes you will bounce back!
I usually dont comment on post. I am so sorry you had to go through this. The shea butter comment is so not true. I have been using it for the past 4 years and my hair is still very curly.
OKAY that's what I thought! I was so confused :/
Still trying to grow my hair out, my hair grows incredibly slow 😢😔
yeah it's confirmed.. she was dead wrong! the lack of knowledge was incredible.
Thank You! :)
Most stylists I have been to actually explain what they are going to do before they do it.
We have to trust our instincts ladies! The vibe don’t lie
Me too went to the Dominican s the lady told me my scalp was dry after she put tons of heat in my hair.
Girl!!! EXPOSE THEM!!!! WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SALON GIRL
I said the salon in the vid plus my comment. Handling it legally tomorrow
T'keyah B you should!!! Please give us an update!!!
Thank you! I'll check it out
BISI1984 yes! I love Ambrosia's hair shaped
BISI1984 But Ambrosia got her hair cut before when shorter so he hair already had different lengths . She basically showed how to maintain it without mentioning she's been to a salon before
Chile Shea butter does not relax your hair WTF only chemicals or heat can change hair texture. SMH
It's funny to me now lol, but I definitely should've left or requested the owner
this is why im so scared to let someone else do my hair because since natural hair is so popular now all these beauticians are claiming to be knowledgeable in doing natural hair. im so sorry that happened to you
Girl I totally feel you.
I would have taken oh girl either to small claims court or to a back alley...but u should def get your money back
I'm literally 3 minutes into the video and I'm actually pissed tf off... I've had a horrible experience with salons and one "beautician" even made all my hair fall out that's why I went natural but giiirrlllll I'm so mad watching this video 😩 like whhhyyy she do that tho 🤔
SMH a tragedy!
Bro..that footage actually made me mad lol I'm a little heated now
Girl, I feel like crying for you seriously.
Girl let's grow our hair back out! It's nothing.. I'm going to be testing out some things and I'll film what works :)
Dang so sorry that happened to you!!
@5:34 watching you blot your tears, made me sad😞 Shameful they did this!
Thank you love
So sorry sis!!! This is why I am afraid of salons!
I have been here 3 times by 3 different stylist...I'm trying to understand when a "trim" equals a full out hair cut ...I cried too...we work so hard to retain and grow it our hair...it sucks but yes we can make lemonade out of lemons and it will grow back and this too shall pass. 💜💜💜
When you said combing with a fine tooth comb... that hurt my feelings! Bless your heart.
