I was addicted to marihuana and alchol.

On Friday evening, I met a man who was worshipping on the street until late at night. And I have heard his story.
He dreamed of becoming a rock star, but was addicted to marihuana, alcohol.
But he has recovered from his addiction and is now introducing himself as a disciple of Jesus.
What happened to him?
