Going to eat those flat beans tomorrow! They are called cocos plats or string beans. We remove the strings on the long sides, cut them in small slanted strips. Boil them in salted water , drain and toss them in lightly browned butter. At pepper and salt. They tast different from a normal green bean, although not much. In Belgium we love them. One of my granddaughters favorite vegetables. Have a safe trip with Chloe.

Making your own pastry is easy. 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of Chrisco, 1tsp salt, 8-10 tablespoon of very cold water. Mix with pastry tool, until size of peas and then add water. Divide into two and make patties, put in frig for at least 15 minutes (helps make it flaky). Don’t work the dough very much. Roll out. Good luck. The young women were delightful. Big hugs from Canada to you and Chloe.
I got caught up in packaged veggies too. Makes life so easy. But then I reminded myself of needless packaging. The girls were adorable exclaiming over your home. I’ll bet they loved your dinner, also. Have a wonderful visit in the states and I send lots of love to Chloe.

I'm for you taking Chloe. She needs to be near you more now than ever. The puff pastry pre-made crusts will do nicely...just fork the bottom and pre-bake with pie beads or beans with parchment underneath. I've experimented with store-bought dough and puff pastry and have been making my own and they are so much better tasting. It does involve a bit of a learning curve. Already have plans to bake pies with my own puff pastry for the holidays. Enjoy yours!

Just seeing that Christmas tree in the chateau put me in the holiday spirit! Chloe looked very cute in her little puffed jacket and I hope she rests well on the jet home. How many hours does it take you to get from the chateau to your house in Seattle? It used to take me 24 hrs. to get from Montana to Frankfurt via three planes. ✈️ I loved the several hours in the Detroit airport because they had a good bookstore but not anymore. I love going to grocery stores in different countries, seeing the new & different and seeing the familiar. For some reason, I was surprised to see so many Canadian products in the Bahamas. I wouldn’t have nothing smart on a house your leaving the control with the suppliers energy companies in uk we are totally against it only new houses built have all this rubbish. Grid goes down you have had it bad idea imo just stick with valves you can adjust yourself or set on-a timer 😊 to peoples detriment smart over charges on utility many people in uk have found this out how much their bills have gone up in prices. They are trying so hard to get peoples homes converted to smart and it’s doing a human out of job roll. I get letters all, the time trying to stop them harassing me to get an electric smart metre with lies saying aww the old system is being stopped it’s all lies it’s basically a box to read a metre electronically rubbish they will charge you far more even in France

Pie crust isn't that hard, and most of it gets hidden. I learned on quiche. I love cheese. So tired of American types. Even brie is better in France.
