      Its amazing that children are far more open to foreign sounds - precisely because everything is foreign. Musical identify is forged very early in life, for most it begins around age three and parallels the development of language

    Im a percussionist who loves playing mallet instruments, and I've been listening to this piece repeatedly for a few years now. This is the level of mastery I strive to one day achieve. You have really been an inspiration to me, always making me want to be better.

    Just insane. Memorizing the score, staying on meter, never missing a note, 2-hands/4 variable-intermittent touch-points, and this is the short version.

    I am from Indonesia, South East Asia, and this modified instrument were came from us. In Indonesia we have Gamelan which from metal, and having Angklung type of Xylophone which operated by knocking like this and made from Bamboo.

      Similar instruments are known around the world. Gamelan instruments use totally different musical scales than these 12-tone instruments.

    Honestly percussionists don’t get enough love for what we do the wind players are all like “you can see your notes and you don’t have to use your breath” like bro this is actually really difficult to master

      No, in fact, it's one of the hardest things on marimba. There's pro who produce wrong notes all the time. Go check for this piece for exemple. Sietzen IS practicly the one without wrong note

    This has my dropped all the way to the floor. This is BEYOND amazing. The shear amount, volume and accuracy of these 16th and tuplet articulations with four mallets requires insane chops. Very very well done and I love the camera work too 😸🎶🎵

      @@someone-yc1pc look carefully, its in the wrist. Its not up and down. Its rotating. Its actually quite an impressive technique and unusual novement.

      @@celuiquipeut6527 I’m also a marimba player, I’m familiar with technique, I spend a lot of time perfecting it. It’s still beyond impressive he plays that fast and get the height he has while maintaining proper technique.

    Wow, superb! Done this also 4 mallets but in one marimba in my elementary and high school years, now 52 yo and never played since i got married but no regrets. Love it keep playing by heart boy

    man... just the whole thing: what a greatly composed piece, WHAT a performance and what a lovely recording... that really earthy low note right at the end of the very first line, with a bit of reverb on it. just a delight altogether.

      I'm not at the point of disliking it, it's obviously an impressive performance. But I think this video would be better without the moving camera shots, IMO they distract from being able to appreciate what he's doing.

    This is just marvelous! I would think that this is even harder than practicing piano because of the constant fluid motion between the larger keys on this instrument requiring the musician to move around the stage. The music itself is also tremendous with a mischievous tone!

I prefer NOT to write; “ima be”, “gone”, “finna”, etc., etc., etc. Not only are those terms grammatically incorrect, they also it also lead to a great deal of miscommunication.     waaaaaaa I am also a player of the same musical instruments in a Marching Band, I've also tried a small one that we really carry while marching and forming different formations even though it's very heavy. This just made my brain burst! Really Amazing! I am still waiting for the right time for me to have my own keyboard! and really practice every time! Thank for reminding me again!

    I 've tried to explain to my music class how difficult it is to play the xylophone and marimbas. I played in High school but nothing like this. Going to share with my class during virtual school today.
