It was always annoying to me that Oasis were aligned with the Beatles during the 90s, when Blur were far more inventive and creative. Oasis were the Stones, if we’re making analogies.
I went to see them live at the Astoria in London when this album came out (I still have the ticket & the enamel badge you got). They were a baggy scene almost sounding like the bands from Manchester area pop band before this. Then they mainlined the entire Kinks back cataloque before finishing off with the small faces on this album. That combination started what most think of as Brit pop. Its was the third album that made them explode but Modern life is Rubbish is better.
The visit to primrose hill version is the best version of the song and the standard for me. The songs not the same without that incredible extended outro.
Not my favourite Blur song but still like it! Sounds a bit dated now unlike their other stuff! Edit: the Beatles comparison i can see! Oh love the Doors tee!
For tomorrow was the start of the new blur sound that helped start Brit Pop off!
This song brings me back to my schoolboy days

I like that 😎 great point ... Oasis - the stones, Blur more Beatles -esque
always felt it was a bit more Ray Davies than Beatles
A much, much better pick of real blur

Sounds more like the kinks and xtc than the beatles.
