So middle faces us, edges face away. Right side you go top to bottom and left side bottom to top.... That makes more sense than the last video I watched. Thank you. I was giving myself a headache trying this before.

to save money with some tools i had laying around i used 16awg galvenized fence wire and a drill to make my own rings before attempting this. it works but the tool i used to cut makes the ends taper inside the rings. also took probably 3-4x as long fighting any inconsistencies in size or shape.

@@mushroom.mustang I went with machine cut in aluminum to try. So far no snags really, but haven't put it over fabric yet. If I have issues I'll probably go saw next time.
This is perfect timing, I have been wanting to try this out as a hobby! It looks like the size you are using here is sold out in aluminum on their website. Do you have another material and/or ring size recommendation that would be good for beginners? Thanks!
I typically work with 16g 5/16 rings, they're a little smaller than the ones im using in this video or you can do 18g 3/8 which is the same size as rings in this vid just a thinner wire :)
ive aways wanted to try making some chainmail for like a Gjermundbu helmet but a full shroud that goes over the shoulders too, your video makes its simple to understand, do you think it would be easier to do small sections at a time to make say 200 "4-in-1" at a time so i have a load all done
I was under the understanding that I was supposed to use pliers with smooth Jaws but noticed that yours aren't. Do you have any issues with marring the metal rings?
I don't have a ton of issues with this especially when working with rings that are already silver! if they get a few scratches on them you would never know but if you're concerned about it when working with precious metals or aluminum rings with a color coating on them, you can always put a small bit of masking tape on the end of your pliers to prevent scratching :)
How can you make the rings stay in place? The pattern on the sample I made looks good when it's laying on top of the table but when I pick it up the rings on the top move down and it loses the pattern a little bit, but I saw examples on pinterest where their samples/work aren't laying on top of a table and it holds the pattern. So how do they do it?
I think as long as they’re closed, they’re closed! Mine click just because that’s how I close mine but if you feel like it’s not happening when you close rings that’s okay!
Good job. Did you know that Iranians invented the Chainmail that you and others are calling European.. . Also, Iranians originate from Europe (along Danube). I am not sure if they invented it when they were still living in Europe or later. Thanks for sharing, you are very talented.

i saw that they have a sizing guide on the ring lords website. they have instructions on how to print out the guide to show the correct/irl size

With “beginner” in title…does this indicate that 4 in 1’s are a good play for a newbie to start?
Does it have to “click” closed every time? I’ve just started and not all of them click but they seem butted close 😅 I’ve don’t want them to snag/pull
