I did this same process and now my ecm says N/A on every function test when you hook up a code tester . It still idles very rough. I checked the ohms on the spliced wire on the new knock sensor and it has resistance. Any one else has this issue? My truck computer won’t read anything now. Seems like when I cut that wire it messed up my ecm.
I changed the 2 upstream o2 sensors because before I did the knock sensor relocation the computer was throwing a o2 sensor code and knock sensor. Now it doesn’t show like the computer is reading any sensor . Very frustrating.
Great vid! I was able to reach around and under and was able to disconnect my old sensor. he original harness is long enough to do this relocation without cutting the wires. Also if you use an aftermarket sensor you will often have to replace the cam sensor too. This video explains why aftermarket sensors set off other sensors and sometimes have problems ua-cam.com/video/Pjf-tacXOnI/v-deo.html
Thank you. Used this process today on my son’s truck. Worked like a champ. Cost was less than $25. Saved $2400 from the local mechanic quote.
You have saved a lot of us so much money. Thank you man really.
Very informative straight to point and clear.... WELL DONE.!
Thanks Mr Busey!
Matt good information thank you. Any chance you did the timing belt video? I'm considering doing mine I have 92k on mine , recent purchase.
You so much for the wonderful video
Now the check engine light is off but the sensor is not feeling the knock which helps the computer with timing.
Exactly! 🤪🤙
Thanks Matt!!
You are a genius!
Only thing is that if in California it will not pass smog anymore. Failed just fo4 moving the sensor
No this is old but would this work on the vg30-e should I buy the factory nissan sensor, any info wld be great.
Thank you brother short and sweet! Xterra brotherhood lol
Can knock sensor fail the Nissan elgrand vg33 fail to start?
Did you get your fixed
It is even worse for us with the supercharged VG33.
I've got a 2003 SE/SC Xterra and that KS has been going off and on since I bought it back in 2009.
So why use a 1999 Nissan Maxima Knock Sensor instead of the Xterra one?
From what I've seen, the 99 Maxima has a harness that cheap and easy to source.
Does the knock sensor actually need replaced? How do i know if its the knock sensor or the actual engine thats causing problems
Very common issue. This fix is good for life of vehicle without a big teardown
@@gm-classics i feel a little dumb but i understand now. I need to replace my sensor completely.

Do you know what the part number for the maxima knock sensor you purchased?

3 hrs jod
You n ver have sensor parameters on good condition, knock sensor needs to be install on engine block, sorry, you are wrong
It may be “wrong” but it works… some with over 300k miles PAST doing this.

bad idea
Several done at 70-80k with 250k on them now… we have different opinions of bad ideas
@@gm-classics xmmm. Not bad
Why do you think it's a bad idea?
