- (Edit 1/27/15: Welcome Cracked readers! Just to clear up some confusion, this was all recorded in-game on the original engine, and the only way to view it outside of using ScummVM's debug console is through editing the game's configuration file. It was also, as far as I know, never meant to actually be in the normal game. Rather, Tom Verre, the artist who drew the scene, did it to let off some steam. Anyways, enjoy!)
I reuploaded this video due to UA-cam murdering the video quality. This should (hopefully) not have the same messiness as the other version.
Tucked away deep within the files of the first Freddi Fish game is this hidden cutscene, detailing Freddi's very gruesome thoughts.
If you are using the game outside of ScummVM, you can find the area to activate this cutscene within the "HEINI" file on your system. In the box labeled "Key", type "EddieEatsLuther" (one word, case sensitive, no quote marks) and under the box labeled "Value" enter 1. Start up Freddi Fish 1 and go to the rock Eddie appears in front of, and like shown in the video click on Luther.
One last note. In the "HEINI" file, you can also enter "BretIsTheOverlord" (Bret Barret?) in the "Key" box and like before enter 1 in the value box to see this vcutscene multiple times, or else EddieEatsLuther will be unable to be activated after the first time you see it, even if you restart the game.. - Ігри

My favorite part is how the animator managed to slip some dialog into the script that ties in with this scene! I guess the recording director just looked at the script and went "Eh, they don't pay me enough to care."

What... The fuck... Man, even by my really jaded, "Kids can handle heavy stuff" mindset, that's pretty damn messed up. It'd be one thing if he just took him in and spat him back out, but he friggen chomped him into bloody chunks.

Peacock The issue that makes that unlikely is that it's fully voice acted and dubbed internationally, meaning the publisher very well knew about this and never properly cut it out of the game despite it not being considered appropriate either.
I get the feeling the "blow off steam" thing is just a ruse so that curious parties today. I consider it very last minute cut content that was so late, they made it togglable in the .ini and said "Well, that's fine I guess" instead of bothering risking extra time for delays, assuming most players (kids) would not be able to toggle it back on.
Nazrat84 later on in the game you do eventually give a peanut butter jelly to the eel and then he leaves you alone (you can actually see it in the menu). the artist that did this just messed with some pre-existing sprites (he recolored the purple chunks into red gibs) and voiceacting to make it.

+JuniorAdventurer apparently humongous entertainment decided that sudden death wasn't a very appropriate scene to show kids and the entire scene was cut from the final version.

@@listlessdandelion3587 Actually yes! Tom Verre was an animator at the studio that produced these games. When he told me he had worked on these games and hid a fun easter egg, i ended up finding this video and having a good laugh. I met him through SL, as he worked for the company developing it Linden Lab, as a game admin or 'Linden'. Even after he left his position at LL, he and I remained in contact and still chat here and there to this day. He's usually pretty laid back with a sense of humor, so this easter egg didn't surprise me Lol

I'm disappointed in my younger self that I didn't accidentally find this scene (unless I did and I just don't remember). I absolutely was the kind of kid who would offer up Luther as a sacrifice just out of curiosity.

To be fair to your younger self, you can't find that scene accidentally. You have to go into the game's code to make it work. Something which was much more challenging before SCUMMVM was a thing.

@MAXinsanity00 Well, childrens' media producers often create things like this in their spare time as jokes. Pixar for example often creates "outtakes" as jokes, with a good example being Sully rolling Boo down the passage way under the factory like a bowling ball with sound effects. Heck, the folks at Cartoon Network actually went to the trouble of recording and animating an entire episode of Dexter's Laboratory where an experiment made Dee-Dee swear every 5 seconds!

Yeah, uh, according to my dad, you develop a certain level of hate for the characters of the game you're working on when you're constantly debugging and programming; you have to listen to the same voice clips over and over, so eventually, you just kinda snap. They all thought this was hilarious.
....My dad was a programmer for Humongous, so, uh.... I actually did ask him about this.
I believe he died in 1996 or 97, I don't remember exactly. He died in a car crash though. Spy Fox 1 is dedicated to his memory, as is Lucasarts' Curse of Monkey Island.

All four of the Humongous franchises have non-kid-friendly scenes that you can only view by altering the config files. Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo has a scene where Putt-Putt eats some cotton candy from the vendor, then throws up, and Pep eats it. Pajama Sam 2 has Sam using the toilet in the employee restroom and using his cape as toilet paper Spy Fox 2 has Spy Fox sitting in an electric chair and getting disintegrated, then reviving a la Dirk the Daring.

i have to speculate that all these secrets were just one-off jokes/coping mechanisms thrown in by pissed off developers. Lord knows that it's all too easy to get pissed off at your own game when a build fails or there's a bug that just won't go away...
