      That’s more of an omega move. Let the bonehead alphas fight while you get the goods :)

    • @WFStudios
      @WFStudios 4 роки тому +14

      Its actually more like the omega sifting through leftovers while the alpha gets the fresh food. This doesn't work too well with sunflower seeds but compare it to how lions are and yes it is good to be alpha. Even when lions get overthrown they don't get killed they stay and take care of the new cubs and still eat just not as much. Way better than any non-alpha status

    • @bananewane1402

      Seems kinda omega, but it’s an intelligent move; the seeds are identical and the macaw gets a whole plate of spoils uninterrupted while the others waste precious energy fighting.

They make great treats and probably help out these wild birds with getting enough nutrition to survive. Remember, wild birds are not captive birds. They fly a lot more. Food is not in a bowl. Sunflower seeds are very high density nutritious foods, for both humans and wild Macaws; their 'high healthy fat' content supports a wild Macaw's energy reserves as they fly throughout the day in search for food, to feed their babies, or to seek out a safe place to sleep at night.
    Caged Macaws that do not fly do not require a high fat content food in large amounts, because this can eventually lead to fatty liver disease...but they do require the essential vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats present in sunflower seeds, but since a caged bird does not fly, probably 2-3 seeds a day are all that is required to maintain their beautiful feathers, their energy level, and to encourage their fantastic sense of humor!
    Thank you for sharing!

    Just a thought but have you considered that sunflower seeds have been linked to hyperaggression among other behaviors in parrots???....I didn't think this was true until I had to wean several birds off of them. It was like dealing with an addict so....yeah. Just a thought.🤔

    This has to be in South America, all Macaw's/Papagallo's are from the Amazon. Some were taken to Central America and other places were they breed. They are magnificent! Some if not all of these have parasites and need medication. I can tell from the feathers. Human parasite medication can be given but must ask Vet how to do it for all of them, as putting it in water. They would look even more stunning and live longer.💓😍💓

    This is not normal behavior for a Macaw, he/she is probably very hungry, recently lost a mate and has hungry babies waiting in the nest with no protection, or some other similar situation. Thank you for sharing!
