- In this episode of "The Choe Show," we delve into the raw, expressive world of urban artistry. Inspired by the dynamic interplay between nature and the cityscape, Choe takes us on a captivating journey of creativity, reflection, and personal growth.
Episode Highlights:
Cityscape Inspirations: Choe begins by acknowledging the urban setting many of us find ourselves in, contrasting it with the serenity of nature. For those stuck in offices without a window, this episode offers a refreshing artistic escape.
Artistic Process: With just a white canvas, a piece of paper, black ink, and a brush, Choe demonstrates how simplicity can lead to profound artistic expression. Watch as he transforms jittery hand movements into a palm tree, symbolizing the unexpected beauty in everyday gestures.
Nature and City Duality: Despite being in the city, Choe paints elements of nature, blending the two worlds. From emo palm trees to abstract snakes and lightning bolts, he shows how art can bridge our environments and emotions.
Core Strength and Resilience: Choe humorously integrates physical exercises like crunches to symbolize the strength and resilience needed in both art and life, sharing personal anecdotes of growing up in the urban jungle.
Interactive Drawing Lessons: Learn to draw a chain link fence and city buildings with Choe's unique, hands-on approach. His playful instructions and imaginative scenarios make art accessible and engaging for all skill levels.
Community and Connection: The episode emphasizes the importance of community, with Choe inviting viewers to "hook arms" metaphorically and navigate the complexities of life together. This segment underscores the supportive nature of artistic expression.
Urban Elements: From chain link fences to telephone wires, Choe captures the essence of city life. He encourages viewers to see beauty in the mundane, transforming everyday scenes into vibrant works of art.
Building Bricks and Stories: Choe's exploration of bricks as symbols of both construction and destruction offers a profound reflection on the power of individual actions. His detailed demonstration of creating a brick building highlights the meticulous nature of urban artistry.
Creative Freedom: Emphasizing that there are no mistakes in art, Choe inspires viewers to embrace their creativity without fear of judgment. His spontaneous and fluid style encourages artistic experimentation.
Nighttime Cityscape: The transformation of the city into a nighttime scene illustrates the continuous cycle of activity and rest in urban environments. Choe's use of contrasting light and dark elements adds depth to his cityscape.

I used to paint the landscape and people in San Francisco. Then my heart broke, and I started painting old growth trees. The trees made me fall in love with people again. Now, I paint pathways with footprints. And weave blankets to keep hearts warm ❤.
Stay up Dave. I started documenting my work yesterday. My goal everyday is to commit to a project in each of the fundamental arenas of my life everyday. Artistry, ecology, and spirituality. With friends and family I am documenting the project. RIP SFAI. Should have sold the Diego mural like Ansel told you. New Genres Situationists Liberation Army. Peace to the people.
