So me a metalhead watched this as I heard the Andre Tunes remixes of these girls and wanted to hear the original song... ended up watching the entire thing. Even though I don't understand a thing and it's not normally my jam musically it was somehow interesting and captivating enough for me to watch for almost 3h without loosing interest. I wonder if some people knowledgable of the sufi culture could explain the money throwing and why that lady in white was there on stage with that bitter look. Everybody else on stage was either singing or playing intruments, she just sat there looking annoyed and then she randomly started digging under one of the girls skirts and took the earrings at one point. Is she some kind of chaperone because the rest of the stage people were men?
I have been obsessing about this whole thing. I think you should watch some of their concerts, because the audience is very tame in this one. Here is the result of the last few hours of my life: The lady: I don't think that she is there because of the band, I have seen videos of them where there is no other woman on stage. There are often people sitting behind them, I thought they were there to collect the money. But the woman does not collect the money so there has to be something else. I read in the comments (so this could be wrong) that the drummer is their brother and the man on the left is their father. My best theory is that the lady is their mother. One thing to support that theory are the clothes. The other band members are wearing a uniform and she does not. The only other people with individual clothes are part of the Nooran family. Also her behaviour seems to fit in my opinion. The money: Don't trust me I only had google for my research. I could not find any good sources, seems like not many people want to find out why musicians are showered with money in India. But this seems to be a common thing. One opinion I read was that it is for compensation for their work, kind of like tipping. That same person talked about throwing money at dancing people at weddings. There seems to be a concept called ‘nyochavar karna’ (न्यौछावर करना) which means ‘sacrificing money’ (over someone). They believe that you can get rid of the "evil eye" by sacrificing your money over them. The "evil eye" is a concept I don't fully get, something about jealousy. But from what I understand, that money has to be given away unlike the money thrown at musicians. So it might not have that deep of a meaning. I personally think this is a very inefficient way to give someone money for their work. So here is opinion-I-found-on-the-internet number two: It is simply fun. I really liked this way of thinking about it. It is something everybody might understand, so if this is true there should not be a lot of fighting about this. But I remembered that I saw quite a few people just dropping money on musicians and they did not seem to have fun. Which brings me to opinion number three: They are showing off. I personally hope that this is not the reason for the money showers but I have to admit, it was the one most convincing to me. There is no proof. It is simply a feeling, because everything else does not make sense to me.

It’s not so much surprise as it is just showing appreciation for another cultures’ music. It is just a good and easy way to tell others, like the musicians, how good the music is w/ using minimal words..
No one cares
@@SamraK64 I speak more languages than English, which is why I understand the frequency of music beyond language comprehension. Funny how you made that assumption about a stranger.
My ear is culturally un-attuned to this type of music, so while I find their energy and style awesome, i still have trouble getting into the flow. But i'm exposing myself more to grasp the essence of what this style is about. Indian Folk. But so far i'm enjoying it!
Excellent performance 👏wonderful experience god bless you all

You must all listen to her tadh beer song, to understand and see the top most level of raga without any efforts, and flawlessly she reaches. The listening audiences are spellbound, and shocked divinely
by her full throated voice booming and hitting your heart and solar plexus, make you totally stunned with flowing tears in your eyes! No singer has moved me so much that I started seeing heaven, and her as SUFI GODDESS. GREATLY HIGHLY RESPECTED, LOVED, AND REGARDED LADY!!
Long live the family with all God's blessings!!!
Salam from Turkey.....Very nice!
When I was young in my school time someone explained to me that the spanish Gipsyes came once from India, I always belived that because they have racial similarity with those peoples; now when I listen and see this people I belive it is 100% true, there is something about the music, they even say "yeli, yeli" as the gipsyes in Spain sing in the weddings, I do not know what it means, maybe somebody could explain. Anyway: beautiful music and faces!
My guess is it means “Ya Ali” - calling to God.
@@mariamaria73S Interesting. Thx!
