So very helpful cuz I am making a table runner & it literally looks it needs something. I'm adding a beaded trim or tassels at the end. Great tutorial..!! Thanks you 🙂🙂🙂
Good job! Love it I have dresses that are too short , thanks for this great idea. By the way I faced my zipper fears and practice the invisible zipper until did great! Thanks girl❤😊
Such a great idea. Makes me wanna add trims and/or borders to lots of my clothes. Will likely do that to these two dresses I'm trying to alter. Am trying to make them into skirts and tops, and, need to get some wide elastic to finish them with. Am presently working on just one dress so i can see how it turns out for me - if my ideas will work out right. And, I think I will put some sort of border on each of the individual pieces. TYSM for sharing this video as it has given me so many different ideas. Love your channel bunches ... Please keep the videos coming for us. 👍😻❣️😍
Meant to say how the dresses I'm working on are high - low dresses where one side of the front part overlaps the other side instead of being one continuous edging. Hope I explained that correctly. Thank you so much again for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us. 😍❣️😻👍
@@SewAnastasia It does sound fun. The first dress I'm working on didn't turn out right when I sewed the elastic to the skirt "part." So, I took it off and am trying again to get the waistband correct. I got a bit discouraged then. But, I always think about something you said a few videos ago. Can't remember the exact words, but, the gist of it all is that we all have different tastes, and, should make our clothes (even when we alter them) as we like them to be - not necessarily to please other people. 😉 TYSM again for sharing your videos with us. 😍❣️😻
Very pretty! If you wanted to, you could use hem tape or bias and stitch it on the under side when you attach your trim. Then, on the underside of the garment, hand stitch down. This would hide any raw edges. Loved your gold trim. Nice video.
@sew anastasia I love this! I'm attempting to add vintage trim (from my late grandmother's stash) to a thrifted button up -- do I have to wash the trim first? Thank you for your excellent tutorials! 🥰🧵🪡♥️
I would totally wash it first. I am not sure how old it is but you might want to hand wash it with dish soap or a speciality soap depending on what it is made of.
Saving this to my sewing playlist. Found a thrifted vintage pastel blue daisy dress that has unwinding hems in both sleeve and skirt and I wanted to learn how to add trim to it🎉
Thank you so much. I have a question if I’m putting a square lace trim on the bottom of shorts do i sew the lace on first then sew side seams to catch the raw edge or do I sew after side seams folding under in the sewn seam?
What do you do with the end of a thick brocade trim that’s too thick to turn under, if it ends in a visible place on your garment? It’s a constant problem for me as I use trims on everything 😂
Hey girlfriend, it’s me again I’m totally scrapping my pattern I got ;( I specifically got this book and I can’t figure out what size to cut out on the pattern try to contact the company there’s no number so anyway I’m really sad and frustrated but last night I decided that I can’t do it so I found this other old 1960s pattern and I’m gonna try that -but I wanted to do trim on a top of a dress 👗 do you have a video for that? my fabric is white with navy nautical wheels ship wheels around it and then I was gonna do a red ❤ trim on the top part of the dress and bottom. I’m guessing you just fold it over, SEW 🪡 it down…? This one you showed kind of hangs off and I wanted one that folded over?
I am trying to added a braided trim to a drop waistline on a knitted dress. Not a very experienced seamstress so trying to figure out the easiest way to add this to the dress. I need to cover up a botch repair on the seam. :-C
Absolutely! Using the right color thread can make all the difference in achieving a seamless finish. Keep experimenting and you'll find the perfect match!
@@SewAnastasia good to know! I like to apply a little bit of Fray Check on the edges of the trims. I have found that even witb the zigzaging there can still be some unraveling.
You’re a lifesaver my friend. :) I’m currently working on a rather ambitious costume and you just saved me a massive headache.
Awesome 👏 woohoo 🎉
Exactly what I needed to add trim to my skirt for Ren Faire!!! My hero!!!!
Who needs a knight in shining armor when you have DIY skills for Ren Faire outfits, right?
Much needed lesson on how to sew trim on the small areas. Thanks so much!
I'm glad you found the lesson helpful! Sewing trim on small areas can be tricky, but with practice and patience, you'll master it in no time.

Awesome video! I thought trim might be out of my league as a beginner but I can do it!!!
You can totally do it!

Hi. Hello. Howdy. From Texas. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much. I have a question if I’m putting a square lace trim on the bottom of shorts do i sew the lace on first then sew side seams to catch the raw edge or do I sew after side seams folding under in the sewn seam?
You can do it both ways. It is up to you and how you want it to look.
What gage settings for the sewing machine, type of Stich & tension & what type of needle? Please, Thank you ❤

Can you sew it into an existing seam?
It could be a possibility sometimes! Thanks for the idea!
@@julierosie62 cool. Let me know how it goes.
Can ribbon be used or what kind of trims work? Loving this idea, your dress fits you great!

could you make a tutorial on how to tie a bow tie?
I sure can!

You can do it! Use a wide zig zag stitch!
You sound like louise from bobs burger❤
Too funny!
Oh so it's ok if you can see the stitch sometimes.....guess you need the right colour thread?
Absolutely! Using the right color thread can make all the difference in achieving a seamless finish. Keep experimenting and you'll find the perfect match!
I was wondering why a zig zag stitch on the sleeve and not on the bottom of the dress?
My trim was very flat and I felt a straight stitch would look nicer.
using a piece of waxed paper under your presser foot makes it easier to sew something with loose texture.
Okay, this is the dress you made in a previous video?!
Won't the upholstery trim on the sleeves shrink when washed?
It is that dress! Good eye. The trim should hold up just fine. Things that are upholstered get laundered. I’v never had a problem in the past.
