"are you lazy or are your expectations of yourself too high?" Love this!

    • @DASHBARKS
      @DASHBARKS 5 років тому +8

YES! this was a quote i had to pause to say out loud as well! i am definitely guilty of giving myself unrealistic expectations and then being hard on myself for not accomplishing them when i am clearly setting myself up for failure in order to see if i can get as much done as I plan out on my google calendar! it was horrible! lol
now i budget more time than i think projects will take and bank the extra time to use toward other activities or self care time (:

I'm going to start only watching UA-cam videos in the gym, that way it encourages me to go to the gym but it also stops me wasting time at home doing nothing

    My tips on preventing laziness:
    - minimize social media accounts, who you're following etc.
    - start good habits together with friends (going to the gym together, book club for babes📚)
    - meal prep healthy food to not have to cook for several days🌶
    - find things you like (for me: skillshare classes, listening to ted talks etc, reading self-development books, drawing) and enjoy doing even after a long day at work
    Loved the video🌷
    Lots of love 💙💚

I have 8 children and my husband and I homeschool them. I also love quilting. The new habit I have formed is to get 1 hour of free time after lunch to sew and I also sew at night after the majority of the children are in bed. Starting with continuing to stick to our school routine and being more diligent with putting the babies down for their naps AND being very strict with myself to go to my hobby room helped SO much. My husband also elevated my cutting table and installed some inexpensive ‘white’ lights in the hobby room and now I am sewing every single day! Small, inexpensive fixes and bite sized goal setting works!!

Making a list of "Things that make me feel like I'm spending my weekend well" vs "Things that make me feel like I'm wasting the weekend" really helped me (with laziness wrt my weekend habits). I found that part of the reason why I wasn't really able to answer "What did you do this weekend?" questions at work was because I was doing too many things on the latter list, and have really shifted my focus to doing things on the former list!

i think another really great point would be to think about internal factors that could make you lazy... like an iron deficiency, poor nutrition or even depression. all of them can deplete you of a lot of energy and influence your behaviour. talk to your gp and get on top of these things!

I’m little by little trying to make it harder to reach for my phone and spend pointless time on it. I have turned off my notifications. Installed this app called forest which helps you be productive by setting a timer for like 30 mins (or longer) if you leave the app in those thirty minutes the tree you are growing (to add to your “forest”) will die. I’m also going to move my phone charger to a new location so I can’t reach for it. Thanks for this awesome video:)

I've done or tried many of the negative reinforcements here. It's so easy to point out your own failures, isn't it? What I'm trying now is to find the satisfaction and even amplify it into pleasure if I can, in the things I want to succeed at. So many of my "want to's" require planning, working at something hard, and finally achieving a goal. Finding the pleasure along the way is harder but sweet when I can do it.

When you don't know your goal or why you do those things you're doing that's when you start being lazy and procrastinate. I am at this stage right now but I think I already accepted what my inner voice has been saying for a long time and now I need to finally make some changes until 2017 ends!

  • @innocentthing4423

perfect timing, just yesterday I told myself enough is enough!
So my issue was that I was procrastinating doing things I wanted to do but that were hard so I started to procrastinate with cooking, cleaning and of course Netflix, Instagram, and youtube in particular.
What I did was that I took a step back and looked at how I felt at the moment (depressed, lonely, like everyone hates me, including myself) and then did a reverse plan of how me feeling like this came to place. I am depressed and unaccomplished and lonely

I used to get up at 6am every single day and I am currently trying to get back into that routine. I’ve had such a hard time getting up in the morning! But here’s my plan:
    - don’t be upset when I don’t get up as early as planned
    - find my “why” for early mornings
    - turn on the lights as soon as my alarm goes off
    - don’t lay there a single minute after turning on the light
    - reward self! Take time to work on editing my UA-cam videos or planning out future content (it’s what I have fun doing).
Thank you for the tips. ✨

Try and get excited about little things that involve routine and organization. These are things that I enjoy, so it makes it easier for me, but think of your day-to-day life in a different way: make inspo boards on pinterest (fashion, instagram inspo, nice quotes), make a motivation board and print out photos and quotes that make you feel good and pumped. Add little things to your routine like taking a bubble bath or adding plants to your environnement that you can take care of (succulents or whatever that don’t put too much pressure on you) etc.!! Much love xxxxxxxxx

I found this very helpful. I'm trying to program my life as best I can for the new year. I recently moved into my OWN place and I'm loving this sanctuary vibe so much ... but, as I was moving out of my old place with my old house mate, he took the couch and we canceled our optus/fetch account. This means, while I still have a TV in my living area of my new place, it is physically harder to binge shows and aimlessly slouch on the couch. I have to PHYSICALLY pull up a chair, and PHYSICALLY connect my laptop to the HDMI. Its painful, so I've found myself reading more. Painting more. Focusing on myself. So my point of sharing this is, GUYS believe Muchelle when she says environment is a major part of your habits, both positive and negative!

I love these small wins! I have this habit tracker I just made in excel, and it helps a lot. I check everytime I read. I set a small goal of 5 minutes, but everyday I read more since I read on the train to and from work. I also set a goal to do 100 repetitions of an abs workout (thanks to blogilates), and I also check if I stretch for at least 5 minutes. I do so for things I want to be better at and get consistent at. I write down in my journal everyday what I eat (to track my food habits, where I am doing good and where I can be better) and my expense habits (funnily I spend less money now that I have to write everything down - I'm just thinking is it worth buying this little thing/food item if I have to write it down?). I write down things I want to do at least once a week, like backup my phone and computer, wash clothes, clean my room and so on. and it feels so good whenever I do this. Of course start small and managable, don't try to do it all at once cause then you might fall off easily.

i love that first statement, that there are no lazy beings only lazy habits. i want to add that there also lazy life circumstances. we should aks ourself whether the life we are living allows to be productive and get things done constantly. Do you eat and sleep enough? how exhausted are you after a day at work? how exhausting are the relationships you have? some of us just have a very stressful tiring day to day life and we need to acknowledge that and adjust our expectations and plans.

I'm struggling with TV and social media atm. I live in China, but am home in Sweden for two months to work. I had all these ideas of what I wanted to do with my spare time, like reading, studying, sewing and knitting. But mostly I end up in front of the TV. The problem here is that I'm staying with my mum, and the TV is the most central piece of her living room (and often already switched on), and apart from that I'm squeezed in to a tiny spare bed room. It's so hard. But I'm working on it, and like you said, every little win is still a win.
Downloaded crackbook - thank you! Never heard about that before.
Also bought some of the books you talked about before, just finished "the ONE Thing", and working through that an my notes now. Always great content on here.

Great advice, I'm going to apply this to my life and look to live more productively! I think the key takeaway for me is to stop putting myself in the "lazy" box. Yes I have bad habits because they are easier but I can work on crafting new, better habits! Also curious as to where you live? I noticed this was uploaded in November but you seem to have great weather there at that time!

Thank you so much for your videos! They are always inspiring. I sleep in my workout clothes, so getting up and doing fasted cardio is easier. And I have taken all of my social media apps off of my phone to prevent getting sucked in to their void. :)

I want to spend more time on school, workout daily, and be a morning person. Now I know that these will all take a long time to implant into my life but I want to start now and hopefully have them all down by my birthday, which is early February.

1 habit I wanna break is going on my phone so much. Like I don't know how to block watching UA-cam videos because I don't use the app. I use safari. Someone help?

    • @SarahMySheep
      @SarahMySheep 6 років тому +1

Linda Raka You could put UA-cam on a block list. I think there are apps or ad ons that let you go on the website for some time e.g. 30 mins and then the page is blocked.

Going to keep my planner and study notebooks in an easier to access spot and will cut up veggies like carrots for snacks so I can just grab those instead of popcorn :) Also will bake less cookies so I don't just eat those and will make sure to buy healthy snacks so I'm more inclined to eat those then to go to the store to buy something unhealthy when I crave it.

I've been posting youtube videos since 2015.
At first it just started out as a creative outlet.
After the first few years I realized that I was actually really passionate
about creating. I have decided to fully committee to making this a full-time gig.
The lazy habit that I would like to change is to stop constantly stating that I am super intimidated by the technical aspect of
    creating content.
    This video was great

I want to be able to do my homework every night and I know I have to stick to the pomodoro technique and give myself "good rewards" (reading a book, colouring, exercise, skincare) rather than me being on my phone or computer

This is so me and I suffer from social anxiety as well, but I’m trying to do better in my life. I spend 95% of my time in my bed with negative thoughts. I have a big fear of job interviews, but I always get the job at the end. I really need to fight the demon in my head with negative thoughts so. I am going to try my best with this video of great tips.

I was just thinking about the idea of self-identity. I have a problem with being responsible. I've been telling myself I'm irresponsible, but I've come to realize that if I self-identify was irresponsible, that is how I will act, whether I want to or not.

My top tips for making checking social media harder:
    1) TURN OFF NOTIFICATIONS - you won't be reminded to check it all the time
    2) Log out of your accounts - if I'm trying to be productive I always sign out of my apps so that if I mindlessly press on the app I get an instant reminder that I should not be doing this right now.
    3) I set myself a timer for 21.00 every day to remind me to log out of my accounts, so I don't scroll through instagram last day at night and first day in the morning
    4) I have a folder with Facebook, Instagram and other procrastination inducing apps whose position I change regularly in order to avoid opening the apps without thinking and getting stuck there
    Hope that helps someone :D
