a superb piece of problem solving for the phaser strip Lou and i'm sure other builders of this kit will wecome hope to see you,Wayne, Phil and Kieth at Teloford
Great idea on the phaser light strip. I have one of the cable tools even. That'll come in handy sometime in sure. Great work on this, Lou. It's looking really good. I'm looking forward to more videos.
Seems like there actually is a case for having some of the windows tinted with various colors as some 'aliens' might actually prefer colors like their home worlds would have. Great getting your insights into the various 'opportunities'.
If it were a dog it would have bitten you. SO simple a solution and staring you right in the face all the time. I actually found addressable RGB strip that was made for those neon-like signs that *could* be bent around corners but the spacing didn't seem right. Your solution is ideal. The obvious question is, did you try to form your regular white LED strip into the accordion pleat? That might have been too tight a spacing to form bends in between LEDs. Remarkable progress-- I know you're hammering and tonging the hull Azteking, no doubt as we speak. I cannot applaud hard enough for your lighting solution. You may well have changed how we all deal with LED strip lighting.
There was a time when you could buy a fiber optic party flashlight. Two AA's. About 4inches long and no bigger than it had to be to hold the batteries, and the head of the flashlight. Had a spray of fiber optics coming out the end about 7 inches or so. This was back in the 1980's. I thought, I'll build a dashboard for my hand made Spinner from stained balsa, then drill out a bunch of holes and glue the tip of the fiber optics there. Mount the flashlight under in the transmission driveshaft area. I used two headphone cushions curled for the seats. I wonder what happened to that project....you can't get those party sprays any more....
Brilliant work on the phasers! And yeah it's a shame about those windows along the edge of the stardrive section. Helios set them too low, so not only can they not be lit, but there's no space for the black windows below them either. Really wish they took more time to get the design right on this.
Canadian starship is building 2 of these enterprises D he's guy has a programmable program for a arduino and you can adjust the number of LEDs in the program, maybe you could get/purchase the program from him?
Lou, are your upper and lower phaser strips wired into a single switch, or is there a switch for each? And if they do only have a single switch, are the strips synced so that the lights “follow” each other, top and bottom, and “stop” at the same points, top and bottom?
Great work - Thats using your noggin' for the phaser strips. It looks very "screen" real! However regarding totally black windows - don't the cabins have night lights?? Is there no mood lighting in the 24th century - LOL

Bellisimo. Your brain is amazing. It needs to be studied.
not the first time I've heard that. ( the "it needs to be studied" part)
@@aztekdummy😂😂😂😂😂
This is why I watch this channel, the ingenious problem solving.
Genius! Your phaser banks lighting is brilliant! I love when a plan comes together!
The phaser ring is genius!
Your LED strip solution is pretty awesome. Great problem solving.

Un excelente trabajo y muy bien realizado, me ha gustado mucho la forma de poner los led ondulando la tira 👍👌😊
Great solution to the phasers. The accordion thing is a great idea.
A brilliant lighting solution! I'm sure this will have applications for future projects! I intend to file this idea away for my own bag of tricks!
Very good Lou !!! Graphic Designers and popup book designers love a according fold ...🖖🖖🖖
A very illuminating episode. 😆
you are my people.
Awesome solution Lou, your catching Phil!!!😂😂😂😂
Looking good, Lou! I love the discovery of adding the accordion fold to the strip light enabling lateral bends!
great thinking outside the box Lou !!!!!
Well done, Lou!
I'm proud of your workmanship. 😊

Very nice work love the way this is coming along
That is The Business Lou. It's really cool to see this work out. Nice!
This is your captain speaking: turn the light off when you leave the room. Great build Lou.
Great video, great thought process on those lights and thanks for sharing - given me food for thought.

found objects are the best solution. Back in the day i would raid the local Spencer Gifts for cheap lighting solutions
You sir, are a genius
i think it may be more of a "blind squirel gets a nut" thing, but thanks.
@@aztekdummy I never thought of doing the "accordion fold" on the light strips and thanks for the staple tip!

That’s fantastic

So cool. 🖖
Amazing Work! How much did this model cost? Anyone know? Cant find this thing anywhere.
you have to go to helios facebook page and send a PM to get the price.

Nah, I got it figured out.
@aztekdummy yeh I saw that ,great solution well thought out.looks really good.
Hey lou why wouldn't you want some light spill in a window do you leave every light on or does it spill over In Your house?
well, there would be walls between some of those windows if it were a real ship, so they should be blacked out
Lou have you thought about using the foil tape to reflect the lower lights down?
there's some of that going on.

Lou are you not going to Paint the inside White to help the Lighting !
the nacelles? yes. The rest stays black

They're black on the model.

There are actually 4 nav lights in the back. two on top two on bottom.

Hang on to your 'trash staples' to use as wall mounted ladders in a future diorama?
they are literally a dime a dozen
Design a 3D print version to share or print and resell them just like your masks.
Of what?
Oh, those light strip arches that you bought from Home Depot
Maybe it’s not really practical.
