    I hope they add a Duplicate Image function to the layers like in other apps. They also need to add Invert layer funtion.

    Thanks for the ideas/demo of what is possible. What is the resulting image size of the mountain photo after exporting, say to jpeg? Seems using three would create a very large file. I will have to test.

    This was very helpful. Thanks, Skyler! I'm hoping we eventually get more functionality in layers. In Luminar 4, I was able to create an image of multiple images of my grandson sitting around the living room. We can't do that in Neo yet.

    Thanks for the video. In the first example, can we not choose the Dramatic tool from the Creative section and paint it over the sky instead of bothering with layers? If more drama is needed, we can open another instance of the Dramatic tool.

      There are many ways of doing one thing. In this example I was trying on figuring out how to make the use of layers useful. I do 99% of my editing in Lightroom and photoshop so I find the luminar layers pretty limiting compared to photoshop.

    ps Where did you get the textures from and where did you put them? Thanks in advance

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 роки тому

      the textures I got from Storyblocks. I added in the layer panel where id said load image. If you want good quality textures or photos for free I suggest Pexels. Its a free website where you can get free stock photos. I have a video about it on my channel. Also it works as a plugin for photoshop, I show how to install it on that video. Here is the link.

  • @aerocanard

    I can only assume that Skylum has some plans for layers down the road as one has to be creative to find a use for them as they function now (you did good!).

    Is it possible to remove a layer I'm using a mac one person said to right click on the layer you want to remove, but that doesn't work for me.

    • @skylerewingphotography

      It doesn’t work for me either ( won’t let me right click) . One work around it is to reduce layer opacity to zero)

    After you edit a photo how do you move the next photo? Do you have to exit the Edit tab, go into Catalog then open the next image? Is there a way to enable filmstrip in the Edit tab?

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 роки тому

      While in edit tab go to layers in left side and re import the photo as a layer. Once you import it from layer windows open it then you can move it, modify it etc. let me know if it works. If not I will make a tutorial this weekend showing how to do it

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 роки тому

      You can’t add layers from your neo catalog. You need to have a photo in your downloads or desktop etc. you could export your photo from catalog then import it as layers. Sometimes I had to change the image name in order to import as a layer. Let me know if it works

    • @andrewmckinney3053
      @andrewmckinney3053 2 роки тому +2

      Hi Nigel. I'm not sure how Skyler will respond, but I would export my base image (for me, it would be a RAW image) as a JPEG or TIFF file, then the exported image would be available as a layer image. The advantage of exporting the RAW image as a TIFF file is that there is more data available for final editing as Skyler did with her 2nd layer. Hope I'm not encroaching on Skyler's territory :)

      use Lightroom and Photoshop.

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Nigel, yes. Just like Andrew said. Export then import as layer. Sometimes Neo is a bit difficult and wont let me import same image so in that case I change the photo name after export so when I import Neo thinks is a new image

    A fine video, but I must say that Skylum is WAY behind Capture One, in the Layers area.
    Of course C1 is FAR more expensive, and the price goes up every year,
    so they're not playing in the same pond!

      I have version 1.0.1. On top left corner where you see the layer dialogue click on plus sign. Then a new window opens where it shows flares, light leaks,sparkles and stardust bokeh. On very top of them a button says load image. That’s where you can import your layers image

    Not really “layers” but more like “textures”. All additions have to be finished photos. No merging so further adjustments not possible. This edition of Luminar is half-baked at best. I’ve requested a refund.
