It was the first single off of violator and after eagerly waiting 2 years for new music, it was a bit shocking. I admit I wasn't crazy about it initially. At that time we didn't expect depeche mode to rock. Of course, I came around. Enjoy the silence was much more the mode I was expecting and of course, that's an all time great song.
