Midori started playing the guitar with 20 and Miyako at age of 19. They were around 30 when this performance was recorded. But they started with piano at age of 3. Miyako still calls piano her first instrument and is on concert pianist level. She also shows this side at LOVEBITES performances. Try „Swan Song“ with the Chopin intro next. She switches between both instruments within 2 seconds in live performances for some songs. And she’s already played both instruments at the same time (Burden of time - Studio live performance)
Great history there. The only thing I would ad is Midori at 19/20 went straight into ESP Japan's Musician Institute after dropping out of pharmaceutical college. She graduated with advanced Performer and Musician degree. They are both professor level in music theory and applied music theory.
BTW: This was a performance with the founding bass player and band leader Miho, also an excellent one. I just mention it, because your two other reactions were played with new young prodigy Fami. They had to do a worldwide bass audition over months with several hundred applicants in order to find someone, who is good enough to play Miho's part of LOVEBITES and also fits like a glove into this band. Both players are incredible (as is the rest of the band)...
Fred may have had his mind blown. Being a guitarist myself I nearly had a heart attack when I discovered Lovebites. This band incorporates Everything I love about driving music as well as tossing in a kitchen sink just for good measure. The guitarists would give anyones favorite Guitar hero a serious run for their money. Smoking Riff,Smokin Speed,Smokin Technicality.

If you replace Slayer by Testament, I'll agree. I know that I'm repeating myself, but the main riff of "Break the Wall" strongly reminds of the riff you hear for the first time about 34 seconds into Testament's "Over the Wall". Also the sound of this specific live version of "Break the Wall" reminds of the sound on "The Legacy" (the album which "Over the Wall" is from), just it's even better, and I love "The Legacy", which was my favourite album in 1987.

When you talk of Asami and comparing her to other such artists, she started out as a ballet dancer and progressed on to being a R&B singer. Some of her songs can be seen on UA-cam from performances 9+ years back!

As "Slayeresque" as it gets. An amazing solo section in such a song with the bass breakdown and the melodic/soulful 2nd solo in the midst of pure thrash. Lovebites, in my opinion, has no equals in being a total package.
They will be playing their first US show ever next year in the Prog Power festival in Atlanta!! 🤘🐺🤘
I appreciate your reactions to amazing Lovebites. Some people say that brutality has never been so gorgeous. Lovebites is breaking the walls of stereotypes in the world metal scene. This band is so versatile, so my next recommendation is “Chopin Etude + Swan song” (live, 2020)
Love that Gary Moore style solo from Miyako...then straight into a Metal explosion of sound. By the way, although Lovebites sing in English, Asami has to learn the words phonetically as she isn't fluent in English. That level of dedication to practice - not just to say the words but to sing them so powerfully and beautifully - is just one of the reasons all members of this band deserve all the praise available as one of the premier Metal bands around.

Love bites sings in American. The earlier songs have a little bit heavier accent the newer songs she's doing very well with her pronunciation.

The singers name is Asami. Saiki is the name of the singer in Band Maid.
Most of the time first time listeners of Lovebites assume they sing in Japanese because all of the other Japanese bands do that. But Lovebites is different, they break that mold too and sing everything in English. That's one of the things that makes Lovebites so special.

In an interview a few years ago one of them said 'we didn't come to be cute, we came to be heavy'.
They weren't joking.
I am always baffled to hear Native English speakers say that they can't understand Asami signing in English. Is it because they are sheltered from the outside world and never heard any accent? I am French Canadian and heard English accents from Canada, US, England, Ireland, Australia and others growing up and I never had any problems understanding her accent.
I'm from America. I understand Asami just fine.
It is definitely not Asami's fault. It is the listener making an assumption that they won't be able to understand her, and that preconception comes to fruition then because they don't really make any attempt to listen.
I think it's because they see it's a Japanese band that they assume they sing in Japanese so that's what they hear except for a few words!!!!!
Can't imagine Antgrax pulling off Swan Song with the Chopin Intro, Frozen Seranade.or Epilogue.
Best pair of solos in any song since the Allman Brothers or Derek and the Dominoes. For those who don't know, that's a LONG time.

All their songs have a message, especially a positive one. Asami always sings in English, it's just a bit hard to understand because her accent is quite thick. If you have subtitles available turn them on. :)

You already know that Asami (that's the singer's name) sings in English - okay, older recordings are a bit unclear - if you don't have the lyrics in front of you - by the way, very worthwhile - not necessarily common in this style of music!
