      Depending on the species, their life cycle is anywhere between 2-17 (most species last 2-5) years. Most of their time is spent as nymphs underground

    And what a mistake that was

    • @dougthedonkey1805
      @dougthedonkey1805 4 роки тому +1

      @Hinters you’re free to have an opinion. I disagree completely, and the way I see it, it’s a complete failure in every way besides the visuals. I’m glad you like it though

    • @dougthedonkey1805
      @dougthedonkey1805 4 роки тому

      @Hinters yeah, I think that the biggest reason people like the new trilogy is because there’s some characters they like, some items and planets they like, and admittedly really cool pictures and colors and stuff to go with it. And John Williams is always a spectacular composer, of course.
      To answer the thing about a fourth sequel, I think that they wouldn’t want to break the mold of Star Wars movies coming in threes. They’re definitely gonna make more standalone content, though

    • @dougthedonkey1805
      @dougthedonkey1805 4 роки тому

      @Hinters ohh, I see. I wouldn’t doubt that like twenty years in the future they’ll make another trilogy. Once all the people who were weaned on this trilogy grow up and start being able to pay for movies themselves, they’ll want to see the fourth trilogy out of nostalgia.

    ... you show 15 groups and yet none are in the western states which do have them. I grew up in northern Nevada and remember when they came out in force... though I also remember more than one summer hearing them, though they were not nearly as numerous. Speaking of insects, we also had mormon crickets. Which have probably given more than one person PTSD from having their house covered by massive swarms.

    An early memory....I was absolutely fascinated by the cicadas when they came out in 1953 (I was 6 years old, already infamous for bringing ''cute'' bugs home to show off). At their crawling stage I wanted to bring some home--but thought my parents might not be delighted with my new pets. So I put them into a shoe box with nice big holes so they could breathe......and woke up with them crawling all over me!

    4:56 That's an interesting comparison. Because Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection, was influenced in part by Adam Smith's 'invisible hand.'

    Calling a regular event a consequence of coincidence is the belief that one has when he doesn't find an explanation for what's going on. In fact, it's just a scientific irrational speculation

    When I was a little girl, I was utterly fascinated seeing 17 year cicadas come out of the ground! I thought they'd make interesting pets so I collected some in a shoebox and made nice big holes in the side. I suspected my mother might not approve (like other bugs I'd collected), so I put the box under my bed. I'll never forget--woke up screaming. They got out and crawled all over me! Up to then, I'd wanted to be a naturalist, like Dr. Doolittle (my favorite books Mom and Dad read to us)...but after that, gave up the idea. Became an artist. Sometimes I wish I persisted with my first aspiration... Good video!

    I was scrolling my recommended. Then, I read the title. I did a double take, squinted my eyes, and read it again and again to know if what I had just seen is accurate. So, here I am.
