    These cheap coffee makers are awesome. I don’t know why people waste money on keurigs. Even if you want just one cup of coffee you can brew it right there in the same cheap coffee maker

      Agreed....and keurigs are often running to keep water warm, I think. I like old school makers like this...even for one cup

    I brought pure premium coffee from Costa Rica to my coworkers and this was the procedure I had to make to the coffe maker at the brake room in order to make sure they could enjoy the flavor, they loved it.

    Thanx for the vid. I wouldn't run the same dirty vinegar water twice, a new batch of the cleaning solution would be way better.

    • @ProjectBolony
      @ProjectBolony  7 років тому +33

      I can agree, but I think once it gets opened back up with the vinegar that everything is going through and nothing is getting stuck. So it is irrelevant if the water is clean or not as the vinegar keeps working every time. That coloration or dirty water is a combination of coffee stain and water minerals and it is what we are drinking in the water and in the coffee and builds up little by little from the heat and evaporation. After a while the water deposits block the water from getting through as fast and that is what the vinegar is for. I have since replaced my coffee maker as this one was a $30 coffee maker and I had it about 10 years or more. No matter what, any coffee maker I have will eventually take forever and I will have to clean it with this method.
      If you want to change the water every time I think you should do that. I usually run the vinegar 3 or more times and then start flushing with just clean water.

      rlfrost that’s how I do it, then I change the filter run the same hot piping water, I also just run it with all vinegar then twice with water to rinse it out. I do this once a month, coffee taste so much better after cleaning and the aroma is back 😋☕️

    and..bonus... if you pour vinegar into the metal base, and let it sit for a day, that metal will look like new and be rust free. Just be sure to wash it with water after and give it a light oiling then wipe off.

    And how about the Real hard Paart? Cleaning the Warming Plate with all that Burned On Coffee Drippings? DO oyu Soften it up with Vinegar and then Scrape if off with a Reg. Dinner Knife? or what? Tried Baking Soda and still had to scrape it off ..

    • @ProjectBolony
      @ProjectBolony  7 років тому

      I didn't usually clean that part except to sweep off the loose particles. It is mostly rust as far as I can tell. You might try some light sand paper and let it dry out. Not real sure about this part. I would expect it is a hot plate so that may help the research.

    • @meaghanhalkett3495
      @meaghanhalkett3495 6 років тому

      Selna Goodhead for me the paint has come off the warming plate so half of it is rust. I use a Magic eraser for my warming plate. Since its rust I can only do so much. If your warming plate is stainless steel, I would use a non gel regular toothpaste. I find that works best for chrome, and stainless steel. Just rub the paste on dry with your finger and then wipe away with a damp cloth. The grit found in the toothpadte should be enough.

    • @ProjectBolony

    Will the vinegar completely disinfect the coffee maker internally? I have a roach infestation in my apartment and I found one inside my coffee maker water tank.

    • @ProjectBolony
      @ProjectBolony  5 років тому +2

      Vinegar is a mild acid. Although I would recommend replacement in your case, I think that you first might need to rectify the problem. In my experience, roaches are after 3 things, food, water, and shelter. This may be the reason you found one in the water reservoir. Especially, if you have been eliminating those 3 things. I would think that a little bit stronger vinegar solution than 50/50 would be called for, but still would not use straight vinegar. I think wiping what you can and then running as many solutions as you can stand through it would be not enough, but you will probably survive. Good Luck.

    • @ProjectBolony
      @ProjectBolony  6 років тому +2

      No I wouldn't. I am sure it would not hurt to put a little bit if you mix like a 10 to 1 ratio. The vinegar is a mild acid that breaks down the minerals that block the small holes. You are not disinfecting, you are just opening the holes so it will make coffee faster.
