Lahti looks like a very nice city. I live in Toronto, Canada. It's also a nice city, and I love living here. But I have to listen to morons who never come here telling me how horrible my city is --- they all live in distant suburbs that are incredibly boring and ugly. But they watch American TV shows and imagine that my city is like fictional stuff they see on TV. So I understand exactly how the people in Lahti must feel. I've always wanted to visit Finland because I've been a life-long fan of Sibelius and the Kalevala. I'll definitely add Lahti to my list of places to visit there, along with Helsinki, Turku, Hämeenlinna [easy to guess the reason for that one!], Oulu and Rovaniemi. Love and hyvästi from Canada.
Weston Road here. One person killed on Jane and Lawrence today. Car thefts up like crazy. Homeless everywhere. Few more years and we will be San Francisco or Seattle.
@@MocarnyZenek Toronto is a major city. It's impossible to have a large city with no murders. Toronto's population has been steadily growing. Nevertheless, the number of murders per year has remained roughly the same for twenty years, so the murder rate per capita has been declining steadily. Toronto's general crime rates are well below several small cities and towns in Canada, and FAR below most cities in the U.S., as they ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. You cherrypicking random events is not acquiring knowledge, it's confirming your prejudice-induced assumptions. Instead of getting my opinions by pulling them out of my ass, as you do, I actually study statistics. My main source is Toronto Police Service Public Safety Data tables. You can check these by contacting Police Headquarters Information Privacy and Security, Information Management at 40 College Street. By the way, San Francisco currently has lower-than-average rates of violent crime when compared with other major U.S. cities. Violent crime in both the U.S. and Canada have been steadily declining since a peak in 1992. The rate for all crime in Canada is now only %55 of what it was in that year. There are occasional minor upticks, such as in 2018, but the trend of steadily diminishing crime is clear in both countries.
@@philpaine3068 show me the data and address the homeless and car theft issues while you at it. Why libraries have security? Because people shoot up drugs in the toilets..

I have can only feel pity for you, living in a dark fantasy universe disconnected from the world. BTW, decades ago I worked in Toronto's largest library. There were far more security problems then than there are now. Homeless people go to libraries because it's one of the few places they can sit down and rest indoors without being harassed. It's mostly people of your sort who are the most hostile to solving these problems and support policies that make them homeless and make their lives extra miserable on top of that. I'm sure that if anyone with good solutions to homelessness managed to get into City Council, you would be out there campaigning against them ---- because your sort actually WANTS people to suffer, and WANTS things to be crappy. I've been dealing with your sort all my life. I know what motivates you.
Lahti is indeed a beautiful city, and it offers something special in every season. In the summer, the lakes and nature are stunning, and in the winter, it turns into a serene, snowy wonderland. It's definitely worth a visit! I completely understand what you mean about misconceptions, people often form opinions based on what they see on TV rather than experiencing a place firsthand. I'm sure you'd love Finland 🇫🇮
