I'm one of those who always buy the BFs at launch, but the next one I only buy in 2025. Especially because, only now that the BF 2042 is getting good. This update is more Official Release than Last Season, at least for me

1. Great to hear that the game will get continued support beyond season 5. That is a great opportunity to gain back the trust of the community and honestly the game is starting to shape into something great, so keeping it up could really turn things around fpr the franchise. 2. The new stuff looks very good. Especially the new map with a completly different asthetic to the rest in the game. 3. I didnt think they could turn hourglass around and I'm still sceptical until i get to play it, but it looks like it could actually be a good map after the overhaul
Totally agree with everything you said - the only major issue that’s still not being addressed as I see it is the lack of content - 1 map per season is not enough. There needs to be at least 2.
It’s wild to look at the maps before the revamps and how open they really were. It’s crazy to think they didn’t think about it before launch considering it was supposed to take place during a war
I was in closed testing for BF2042 as I've been with other BF titles and unreleased game modes. I gave Dice basically a novels worth of feedback several months before release and my 2 biggest gripes were lack of cover for infantry and removal of the class system in favor of the hero nonsense we were given. It's sad that it took the game to fail before Dice took notice and if the game had been in its current state at launch it would have been their biggest hit to date.

Honestly I have really been enjoying BF2042 these past couple of months. I was pretty sad to hear the rumor that season 5 might be the last one but I'm really excited there is still more in store as this game has made a big comeback
Could you imagine where we'd be if the game was like this at launch? Hopefully they use all they've learned with this game and prioritize key elements that fans wanna see in future BF titles. Either way, the turnaround for this game has been nothing short of incredible.
People should stop praising developers for releasing an unfinished game just because they update it with basic features and content they already planned on releasing for 2 years.

For that to happen you would have to assume that they actually learned anything....based on how BF2042 has been going compared to how BFV went i don't think they have learned anything. But time will tell for those sticking around long enough
These new maps hit good. Whoever is doing the redesign needs one hell of a raise or needs to be a fulltime employee. These maps are finally what they should've been on release
Thank you dice for bringing the game back. I stopped playing soon after release, returned to the game in season 4 and its probably one of my favorite battlefields now. I'm a sucker for near future aesthetics and you guys did it pretty well. Heres hoping for a great year 2.
Still holding out hope to hear about potential future seasons. Would suck to end it here when the game is just getting good again, considering the next game is probably more than 2 years away. Also no close quarters urban map or naval focussed map yet. Wish we could get flooded London from the cinematic to combine those 2 at least.
Honestly, I would not be surprised at all, if the next game came out near the end of next year, 2024. I mean they've been working on it for awhile as it were, and EA well.. they like money. Vince Zampella, if anything, would be the only thing that would force EA not to make DICE release the next Battlefield Game too early, because if there's one person EA listens to, it's Vince. But clearly, they don't always listen to him (Jedi Survivor PC Port is proof of that)

Any plans to bring some more classic maps? I wouldn't mind seeing some Battlefield Vietnam or Battlefield 2 maps, would love to see what could be made of Operation Harvest or Siege of Khe Sahn

The big problem is that it’s only one new map that gets old after 2 weeks. We need variety of maps and plenty of modes that can keep the game fun and interesting.
The only people left at DICE when the game launched were essentially interns and newbies. They've had to bust their asses just to attain the bare minimum.
I miss the days back in BF3 where DICE would take a risk and bring you CQ maps. Me and my friends had some of the best shooter experiences back then and to this day still try and find.

The squad management is the most important update for me. If I'm with a good squad I want to stay with that squad! Hourglass update looks much better too
After being wildly disappointed in the beta, I played Mw2 until about April. I picked up BF2042 just to see what it ended up like and ive been hooked. Finished the Battlepass in the span of 6 weeks! I am glad that this game was worked on and I hope it can recover the series. Great work!

Hello Dice, the work so far from season 1-4 has been good (5 is looking good from what we know) BUT it would be HIGHLY UNWISE to cease support after it. Its about TRUST if this game ends now so will any chance of people buying ANY future Battlefield games!

Arica harbor can be extended to the shipwreck and then they can add boats, noshar canals can be extended to the houses on the right side of the map, Caspian border already works with 128 players and same with that jungle map I forgot the name of. Obviously the 64 player versions of the maps would still be in the game.
Nice! I will consider this as the true release of 2042. Finally feels like a battlefield game, destructible environment, buildings with covers, balanced play for infantry and vehicle players, and Anti-Air turrets. For year 2, I rather have 32v32 sized maps (even if allows 64v64) for a trade-off for more destructible buildings, coverings, and tree cover. Just no wide-open battles over long distances anymore. More urban and city battles and destructible buildings like previous battlefields.
It's great how they've been striking a balance between infantry and vehicles with the new maps. Hopefully, they really go all in on the next Battlefield.

Quality of life update Recommendations: Can you please organize the Portal System better? Move all the Offical Multiplayer game modes to the front so more people PLAY THE GAME MODES. You have about 13 games modes hidden behind 4 menus so NOBODY PLAYS THEM. I bet half the player base doesn’t know that Gun Game is a 24/7 option. Or vehicles assault mode. Because the portal system makes you think all these options are temporary. Make a separate menu for community created portal game modes and Battlefield Official Experiences. If you want new players to come, and if you want old players to stay, you have to give us more to do. And you’ve already given us more to do BUT ITS HIDDEN BEHIND POINTLESS MENUS lol I love the game but this seriously needs to get fixed. Keep up the good work 🤟

I heard last season that you're not adding more specialists, there's fourteen specialists in four separate classes and two of the classes have one less specialist than the other two classes, yes I'm talking Engineer and Support, this gives less focus on these two classes, which are primarily assist based; i.e repair, resupply and revives, I think if you add a specialist to the Engineer class that has a machinegun bot like the pickup in BF4, then a Support class specialist with a mortar, as the Support class has always had a mortar in every game since BF3, this would even the classes to four specialists per class for sixteen in total and give new tactics to the battlefield, I don't know what perks you could give them but theres that, I feel like not adding these or at least the mortar would be a huge loss.
It's so strange that their updates are adding mechanics that were present amd/or added in earlier entries that the community liked, things that made Battlefield good. It's very perplexing. Still, In glad they're working to "fix" things.

Honestly, Im very positively surprised that they are continuing with the game and updating it. Normally it's just them taking the money and not caring about the game anymore, seems like they've learned from the plenty of mistakes they've made in the past. Good work Dice, hope you will continue supporting and showing dedication like this to future projects aswell.
The map reworks have been fantastic, and new Hourglass seems much improved (though the real problem areas were the big empty stretches between flags, and it was a bit hard to tell how much of that improved). Game has been great lately, though I do still want a more Planetside-like vehicle system (where one player stealing the team's transport and crashlanding it doesn't seriously hurt your team's chances of winning -- that doesn't happen in Planetside 2 because eventually everyone can afford to just immediately spawn the vehicle they want with their own slowly-regenerating personal resources).

I’ve been a Battlefield fan since the beginning. It has always been the superior online multiplayer battle sim for console gamers. And this release seems to be the most reworked version yet. Every season undergoes much needed changes, listening to the gamers input, and succeeding in evolving with the needs of the battlefield community. I’ve also enjoyed the old weapon releases, map reworks, the vehicles, everything. The only thing I would ask for is more maps that involve 64 v 64 players in more game types. Conquest is fun, but what about, “disarm the nukes 64 v 64”? Full vehicles, hardcore damage, full on mil sim. Oh yeah, with Portal, I can make that game type. This game is awesome and I commend those involved in its creation and sustainment. One request: Can we make the skyscrapers more destructible? Maybe not be able to totally level them, but be able to destruct the environment down to the steel superstructure. And if you like, make the shorter buildings, 20 floors and less, level-able with overwhelming firepower after key points of the superstructure are destroyed. That may be too much to program, but it would enhance the realism greatly. You guys are easy are the crème de la crème for mil sim. Might as well kick the rest right in the nuts and maintain your dominance.

After being wildly disappointed in the beta, I played Mw2 until about April. I picked up BF2042 just to see what it ended up like and ive been hooked. Finished the Battlepass in the span of 6 weeks! I am glad that this game was worked on and I hope it can recover the series. Great work!
Honestly Hourglass looks like it’s one of the best looking reworks right along side Breakaway, keep up the good work! Looking forward to the future of BF2042 and beyond!

It’s night and day from when this game was at launch to now. 2042 turned to one of my favorite FPS in recent memory.
This is the most fun I've had playing a Battlefield game since probably BF2142 and I love how a lot of the older features are coming back like actual squad management

The changes in the maps seem to me the most important thing. Surely the ones who are going to cry the most are the Snipers who previously had their enemies without cover on the open maps

Any good sniper will invite diverse cover, because it makes sniping a cat and mouse game, which is way more fun than a Turkey shoot.

Pleasant surprise to hear you guys are continuing support for the game. Recently bought it on the Steam sale and I'm pretty happy with the new versions of the game. Very excited to see better map design now that the new team is getting used to things!

its not like they have a chance... the new BF wont be ready until 2024 so they obviously had to keep working on this one till then, even if its just a skeleton crew

Hello Dice, the work so far from season 1-4 has been good (5 is looking good from what we know) BUT it would be HIGHLY UNWISE to cease support after it. Its about TRUST if this game ends now so will any chance of people buying ANY future Battlefield games!
They should add BC2 and BF3 Portal maps to the main Breakthrough and Conquest playlist.
On 64 conquest they already there but on breaktrough not but would be awesome If they add them to breaktrough

Arica harbor can be extended to the shipwreck and then they can add boats, noshar canals can be extended to the houses on the right side of the map, Caspian border already works with 128 players and same with that jungle map I forgot the name of. Obviously the 64 player versions of the maps would still be in the game.

How do you so wrongly describe the G36C as a "Bolt Action Assault Rifle"?
Crazy as that sounds. There was someone that called a pistol an assault pistol.
Nice! I will consider this as the true release of 2042. Finally feels like a battlefield game, destructible environment, buildings with covers, balanced play for infantry and vehicle players, and Anti-Air turrets. For year 2, I rather have 32v32 sized maps (even if allows 64v64) for a trade-off for more destructible buildings, coverings, and tree cover. Just no wide-open battles over long distances anymore. More urban and city battles and destructible buildings like previous battlefields.
If theres no word on future seasons in this update, then the game is already dead. I heavily hope for the continuation of support.
Okay this is going to be the best season yet very impressive DICE content like this should be put out EVERY SEASON. I can’t wait to play!

It's great how they've been striking a balance between infantry and vehicles with the new maps. Hopefully, they really go all in on the next Battlefield.

Hey you guys remember when battlefield 4 had like 10 new maps 12 months after release? I remember
Quality of life update Recommendations: Can you please organize the Portal System better? Move all the Offical Multiplayer game modes to the front so more people PLAY THE GAME MODES. You have about 13 games modes hidden behind 4 menus so NOBODY PLAYS THEM. I bet half the player base doesn’t know that Gun Game is a 24/7 option. Or vehicles assault mode. Because the portal system makes you think all these options are temporary. Make a separate menu for community created portal game modes and Battlefield Official Experiences. If you want new players to come, and if you want old players to stay, you have to give us more to do. And you’ve already given us more to do BUT ITS HIDDEN BEHIND POINTLESS MENUS lol I love the game but this seriously needs to get fixed. Keep up the good work 🤟

I heard last season that you're not adding more specialists, there's fourteen specialists in four separate classes and two of the classes have one less specialist than the other two classes, yes I'm talking Engineer and Support, this gives less focus on these two classes, which are primarily assist based; i.e repair, resupply and revives, I think if you add a specialist to the Engineer class that has a machinegun bot like the pickup in BF4, then a Support class specialist with a mortar, as the Support class has always had a mortar in every game since BF3, this would even the classes to four specialists per class for sixteen in total and give new tactics to the battlefield, I don't know what perks you could give them but theres that, I feel like not adding these or at least the mortar would be a huge loss.
It's so strange that their updates are adding mechanics that were present amd/or added in earlier entries that the community liked, things that made Battlefield good. It's very perplexing. Still, In glad they're working to "fix" things.

Honestly, Im very positively surprised that they are continuing with the game and updating it. Normally it's just them taking the money and not caring about the game anymore, seems like they've learned from the plenty of mistakes they've made in the past.

The map reworks have been fantastic, and new Hourglass seems much improved (though the real problem areas were the big empty stretches between flags, and it was a bit hard to tell how much of that improved). Game has been great lately, though I do still want a more Planetside-like vehicle system (where one player stealing the team's transport and crashlanding it doesn't seriously hurt your team's chances of winning -- that doesn't happen in Planetside 2 because eventually everyone can afford to just immediately spawn the vehicle they want with their own slowly-regenerating personal resources).

I’ve been a Battlefield fan since the beginning. It has always been the superior online multiplayer battle sim for console gamers. And this release seems to be the most reworked version yet. Every season undergoes much needed changes, listening to the gamers input, and succeeding in evolving with the needs of the battlefield community.
I’ve also enjoyed the old weapon releases, map reworks, the vehicles, everything. The only thing I would ask for is more maps that involve 64 v 64 players in more game types. Conquest is fun, but what about, “disarm the nukes 64 v 64”? Full vehicles, hardcore damage, full on mil sim.
Oh yeah, with Portal, I can make that game type. This game is awesome and I commend those involved in its creation and sustainment.
One request: Can we make the skyscrapers more destructible? Maybe not be able to totally level them, but be able to destruct the environment down to the steel superstructure. And if you like, make the shorter buildings, 20 floors and less, level-able with overwhelming firepower after key points of the superstructure are destroyed. That may be too much to program, but it would enhance the realism greatly.
You guys are easy are the crème de la crème for mil sim. Might as well kick the rest right in the nuts and maintain your dominance.
