I've really enjoyed watching your videos. I get goose bumps listening to the sound of the MD, from starting to shut off. My Dad bought a 1947 MD brand new, and I could hardly wait until I got old enough to drive it. Finally at 9 yrs of age and 2 yrs of bugging the heck out of the old man, he finally let me drive it. I had to wedge my butt against the seat to reach the clutch, but I didn't mind. I did a lot of chisel plowing, and loved listening to that diesel beller as I would work this Michigan blue clay. If all the tractors I've ever operated from my grandfather's 39 A to my cousin's Case IH Steiget, my absolute favorite was and forever shall be the MD. Thanks for taping and sharing your restoration journey. I really enjoyed it. I restored a 51 H, and 40 A kerosene, but haven't worked up the courage to tackle a Diesel. Probably at age 83, I never will. Again, thanks.

Heartbeat & blood pressure returns to normal. My breathing relaxes. I can almost smell that fresh cut field. I'm fascinated and completely relaxed at watching the farm action. Hugs from a middle aged Grandmother from a suburban town in Wisconsin
Mr. Pete, you farm the way I did when I was farming as a teenager/young adult. We had a Farmall "M", not the "MD" My neighbor had the "MD", and I spent a lot of time on it. When I started mowing hay, I used the cycle bar mower, except ours was tow behind. Then we graduated up from there. Back then, that's the kind of mower that the state and county used to mow the ditches. By the way, I'm 61 years old. Thank you so much for sharing this. I was watching you spread maneure the other day, and it brought back a lot of memories because that's exactly how I did it. We also at one time had a Farmall C, H, and a John Deere 630 with a wide front-end on it. Those were the days.
You have earned "Bragging Rights". Have watched your teardowns and rebuilds. It's pleasure watching a mechanic ply their trade. Enjoyed this morning's video. Thank You, Pete.
Pete your tractor is a master piece of restoration. Like you say the sound of engine is so beautiful. How would you ever get the same feeling if you were on an electric tractor if they ever go that way. Pete your joy makes it fun to watch. That great job done feeling you rarely get in life today.
GOTTA TELL YA PETE, WHEN YOU STARTED UP THE MD IN GARAGE, BEING A BIT OF A GEARHEAD MYSELF THERES NOTHING MORE SATISFYING THEN THE SOUND OF THAT MACHINE PURRING LIKE ESRA. EVEN WITHOUT THE MUFFLER. GREAT JOB WITH THE RESTORATION. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU ALL HAVE GREAT WORK ETHIC 👍
Just looking at your smile after you cut your field and listening to your beautiful tractor purr , funny how your good day helps us here in Montana . We do so enjoy your videos. We have been ranching in Montana for about 6 years after calling it quits in the medical field, we have followed a few Others on you tube by far we value who you are , how in today’s times what works for you and your farm and your words of wisdom ! Thank you very much for being a great person .
I think you are selling the MD short saying it sounds "nice". That tractor sounds GLORIOUS, especially that unmuffled bark when you snap it over from gas to diesel. Literally yanks me back to my teenage years and running that old MD.
When Iwe get overwhelmed with the current negativity in the news my wife of 53 years and I go to your latest videos and absorb the reality of a well run sustainable farm. Mr. Rogers was a fine man who personified humanity. You remind me of him in the best way possible.Keep up the great work. Joe and Linda from the Humphrey Family farm in East Texas
That MD is about as good of a example what it would have been like for the original farmer that bought it brand spanking new in the 50s!! Great job on the restore!!
The 'song' of a well tuned tractor IS a delight at any time. Well, that and a well trimmed field with a side cutter just makes me sit a little deeper in my computer chair and reminisce. Hope all is well at your place.
Pete--I really appreciate all your troubles to showcase the newly restored tractor. But, I can't help but think how many times you looked at the original tractor and thought, "is it really worth all the trouble?" Great video the brighter red paint looked good on you!
At the 14 minute mark was a thing of beauty!!! That low rpm RIPPED MY HEART OUT!!! That's what I call true mechanical meticulousness!!! I know for a FACT, You and my Dad would've gotten along like two peas in a pod!!! 💜💜💜💜
To a gear head , the sound of any engine running smoothly an perfect, is music to our ears ! It's a symphony or can be a rock band !!! Old timers would say she is running like a pickle seeder !!! You should be proud, she looks and sounds like a trailer Queen, But I'm glad you are using her for what she was made for !!! GOD BLESS !!!
Amazing job of restoration of tractor and childhood memories. I was always thrilled to be able to participate in hay harvest. Those old cycles are pretty 🤩 cool.
I love seeing sickle bar mowers cutting, I think they are underrated, the tractor’s sounding and looking great, you did an awesome job, now that I recently retired I want to restore something and I can’t decide what but I have narrowed it either an old tractor, an airstream trailer
Awesome machine Pete. You did a great job restoring it too. Looks to be in Show Room condition. Love the sounds of that diesel. I bet an eight hour audio recording would help most people sleep at night. Awesome.
Love to hear a smooth running cyclmower running on a smooth running tractor no matter its make. We had a smooth running john deere a with a smooth running new idea tow behind that I loved to listen to. Nothing more relaxing. Loved the how low will she go part.
Pete, there is nothing more relaxing than working a tractor with some form of a grass cutter. I had a Farmall 140 offset that I inherited from my late ex-father in law. I kept it running as smoothly as possible and even put a 4 foot brush cutter on it. It has the one point hitch. Ex wife got it back in the big D. It had all the planters and cultivators with it and was a great garden tractor. I now have 3 Fergusons and a JD cab/air tractor. My oldest Ferguson is a Harry Ferguson TO35 that was my grandfather’s tractor. We baby it since it’s a 1956 model. You’re an Architect and I’m an Engineer. I’ve retired once 10 years ago but never stopped doing engineering. I lease out the hay cutting to a person who is baling haylage off the fields. He gets about 1000 bales a year off of 4 cuttings. I would never take on the tractor rebuilds like you as I no longer have the patience to dig into the repairs like you do. It was exciting when I did do the repairs myself years ago but have since lost my patience with in depth repairs. I enjoy watching you do the restorations and one thing I can greatly agree with you on is the need to have a good set of shop manuals for each piece of equipment. I’ll keep on plugging away as a consulting engineer for hopefully another 10 years and maybe if my patience returns, starting going through some of my equipment then. Keep’er running and stay safe on the farm.
My 56 Farmall 400D would throw you for a "Loop"! She used to run a 40" portable "Bell-Saw" sawmill... The Log Cabin she "CUT" All Wood for that "Cabin".. Irasburg V.T.!
The old equipment, with a good dose of horse sense works so well. Good job on that restoration, Pete. That ol' girl sure does run smooth. When I was a kid, I learned to tune my car by ear once I got the specs dialed in. It was always a very satisfying moment to listen to the purr as you wiped the grime off the tools before putting them away.
I love mowing with my sickle bar mowers. Usually, I disturb a few field mice when cutting. Great camera angles and changing views to keep people engaged
I'm glad you fixed or replaced everything needed to be fixed. Those guys that engineered those works of art makes me proud to be an American. We need more family's like Pete. I always learned something from him. Keep it up Pete. Neal Apollo Beach Florida
Pete, When you were lying on the ground I thought how might favorite tool at 52 years of age has become a 1.5" thick 4' x 4' piece of neoprene rubber. It is awesome on the gravel.

What I was thinking you were able to put into words. I always feel the same...from a proud 77 year old Grandfather. Thank you Heather!
Pete, that's one honey of a tractor. You've done an excellent job getting her back in prime condition.

Your videography is second to none in my humble opinion!!! I very much enjoy your videos!
Working on machines can be tedious sometimes but there is nothing more gratifying than when they run good and get the job done.
Love that MD sound!! 👍👍👍. You did good 👍
