I have been in France for 3 years but I wasn’t resolved (and confident) to learn French for communicating with people until I saw this 10-minute video. Thank you so much for your revelatory thoughts about leaning language!
Amazing. I can understand this, the speed is perfect but also the advice. I was getting frustrated and disheartened and I'm now excited to learn in all the different ways and build my passive knowledge. Thank you
This video was very special!! Listening while having the nice view of the streets made it so pleasant...and at the same time we could learn, that it is important to have fun exploring and to be patient and to tust our brain, that it will put all together it's own pace. Thank you for this wonderful video!❤
This video was fantastic. I understand much of what you say but cannot speak French very well. Your commentary about not getting discouraged or thinking I won’t progress is so very helpful. It makes me want to listen more and more to absorb the sounds of your beautiful language. Many thanks. USA
Love all your Videos! MORE MORE MORE!!! Your words were very encouraging too! My favorite thing I want to always remember is: "If you don't have anyone to speak French with don't worry. Just enjoy discovering the language and watch videos." I do a lot of passive learning. I have been playing video games in French for example.
Thank you for such great instructions. Your videos give me courage to continue learning French i was really in trouble. I got hopeful and enthusiastic about it
Bonjour, i love your videos and i totally agree that speaking n listrning are the nost difficult but like you said, chaque jour, improve a bit, is already good. Merci Michael
Thank you, thank you!! I needed to hear this. I was starting to feel frustrated, but recently began watching your videos. I feel like your content has made a big impact on my ability to comprehend. I'm beginning to understand most of what I'm hearing (and reading, subtitles are great). I'm so happy to have found your vlog. Merci
Brilliant! Exactly my sentiment living in France these past 3 years, having moved from the UK. Be patient, be curious- I always felt those were key. Thank you for reassuring and motivating me even more, you guys rock👍👍👍
I love how clearly you pronounce everything and the speed at which you speak is very helpful for beginners. I only wish that your subtitles were quite a bit larger because on the phone it's a little challenging to read.
Merci 🙏🏼mille fois Michael! Brilliant. This is exactly what I plan to do with languages to get beyond being "stuck" and frustrated after my book learning, which has never led to real fluency for me. Immersion is the answer.
Merci beaucoup. I'm glad you enjoy our content. We'll keep making more. I'm preparing new vlogs, podcasts and monologues. Thank you so much for your support.
Heres how I learn French: hello everybody: First: Thanks to French Facile for all your videos. I wrote you a message 2 times. Hope for an answer at some point of time. FF starts the video with attending loads of comments from people, that many are somewhat able to understand French but cannot speak it. I agree totally with FF that to understand and comprehend the language entirely by listening absolutely comes first. I have incorporated the WRITING in that listening practice AND that have helped me to be able to read aloud everything after the video. Here's how I do it: 1) I listen at speed 0.75. 2) pause when needed, write the sentences down, AND 3) above each word in the sentence, I write down HOW the words are pronounced. The result is that I can read it almost perfectly. My French girlfriend from Grenoble say that I read perfect. My way of practice takes of course a long time pr. video, BUT definitely worth it because I actually learn to speak the language. For the language du fulle develop verbally one of course needs REAL LIFE speaking French, so that every bits of utterances becomes repeated and habituated in the everyday life in France. hence from next summer I will visit France on and off forward. And finally: Its of course completely to first learn FORMAL French, and keeping in mind that theres always either a lot of or some part of INFORMAL speaking within the same language, and thats the case for French. Dont worry about the informal speakings, because once I/you understand and speak the formal, it'll be much easier to understand the informal wordings way faster.
Hello, sorry that I didn’t answered .I think it’s great that you’re doing effort to learn French in order to communicate with your partner! I will just say congratulation and I wish you a very good day
This is why your videos are SO helpful! It is one thing to associate in the brain a visual signal (letters and words) with meanings, but it is, as you say, entirely different to associate a sound with a meaning. That's why the practice I get from your videos of associating sounds with meanings is so invaluable. Thank you thank you. And your speaking rate and pronunciation are perfect for me. Also, you speak with everyday French instead of textbook French so I learn everyday phrases like à de suite! instead of à tout de suite! or des fois instead of quelque fois. Your several videos regarding the mechanisms of language acquisition have really helped me. I really appreciate how you emphasize ASSOCIATIONS such as emotions and situations for burning language acquisition into the brain. Well done.
Thank you, this video has inspired me to keep going. I have been struggling to learn french but your thoughts and suggestions have allowed me to accept where I am on my learning journey. Merci beaucoup!!
Merci 🥹
I just came across your videos a few days ago and I'm very impressed as these are perfect for me! I'm a retired Canadian high school English teacher who moved to the south of France exactly a year ago to improve my limited French ability and I'm still struggling. However, as you've said in this video, I'm understanding more spoken French every week and I know that I have to listen to more podcasts and videos like yours. I just got my visa extended so I have another year to improve - I'll be watching your videos everyday! Merci beaucoup!
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I was feeling very discouraged because i couldnt speak. I will keep going. This is exactly what i needed to hear 😊.
Thanks for this video. Im australian and am going to europe at the end of the year. I will be spending some time in Paris. I studied French for 4 years in high school, but never even got to a comversational level really. Since I finished uni Ive decided to start learning again. Ive been listening to English songs in french on my commute to burn the lyrics into my brain, even though I dont understand 90% of them. About a month in and I can recite most of the choruses by heart. As you said, exposure is 80% of learning a language.
That is absolutely incredible and so very useful video. Thank You for this unique analogy about discovering a new city. Intuitively I did the same for last couple of years -listening French language through the radio while driving every day even without understanding what they were talking about. Slowly learning a French grammar from different bloggers in UA-cam without a pressure. Now I see the difference. I can understand the subtleties 90 percent. Learning any language is a never ending process, so what s the point of hurrying . We just need to do our best. We have been living in Canada for 20 years in English-speaking province. My husband started learning English at age 50. And , being by nature absolutely not able to learn any language, he managed somehow and even started running his own business. My favourite slogan is: Everything is possible!
You're really doing a great job making videos like this. You're helping us greatly with pronunciation, comprehension and vocabulary. I love learning French and keep up the good work.
As a person who speaks English as his 2nd language. This is absolutely helpful for me! This motivated me to enjoy the process and it eliminated my frustrations on how I suck at speaking French as a beginner (been learning this language since last week of October). I hope you make more contents, sir! I'm a new subscriber!
Yes, I found your French very easy to understand and your advice was really relevant. I cannot speak but can read and understand slow speakers. You said not to worry about that and it will come. So thank you.
Hello Michael and Nicolas! Today is 24th of December. Christmas Evening! I wish You both have a wonderful time during the Holidays and hopefully we will see many videos about your wonderful and so interesting country! You , guys , do outstanding work! Thank you so much! And Happy coming soon New Year!
Merci beaucoup Natalia trop gentil!
Very comforting to me that I am the example of someone who understands everything that French people say but struggles to find the words to respond to them. I always try to push myself to communicate with them at the gym, for example, or order a simple croissant at a bakery. It's surely helping me a lot.
I was looking for kids video's to improve my French, but these video's were almost never with subtitles and they spoke way too fast. I'm very glad I've found your chanel! Many thanks!!
Sandy (Australia)
I really like this video with slower speaking and entertaining street scenes. ( I also like hearing your conversations with Nicholas.) I wish I could have listened to French this way when I was in school, mais alors, the internet had not been invented :)
Love love your vidéos. Its IS liké walking along with a Friend through thé town and without thinking absorbing thé words as well as thé sights 🎉🎉more liké this please.
Thank you so much for this wonderful content and especially for such motivational thoughts about learning new language. This was very helpful and also eye-opening indeed.
idea of your video is perfect. pls continue. i love visiting France and i'm trying to learn French but often the level is too high here on YT. Your concept is really good and i hope you won't stop your project. Thank you
Am liking it.Am growing my vocabularies slowly.Listening the french speaking people is tricky coz they speak too fast but I have no choice than to learn time and again
I am dutch and it is difficult to learn french for me. I live 2 years in French now and take lesson. I have duolingo on my phone. But your video takes away the stress about learning. Your explornation about de brain is clear. Merci beaucoup 🙏
LOVED ❤ this video ! I get frustrated sometimes when I try to speak in French, and the words don't come smoothly and naturally. Thanks for this video, I know I need to relax and just enjoy learning the language. 😊 👍🏻More videos, SVP !
I have just discovered this video and it is by far one of the best that I have found on my journey with learning french. Thank you and the analogy about the flashcards in a new town is SPOT ON!! I am definitely subscribing and this will replace one of my learning sessions, please keep these videos coming they are superbe!!
Thank you very much! I have one suggestion. It would be much much better to provide subtitles that are not hardcoded in the video but are provided via UA-cam subtitles, and then can be turned on / off. This is in fact a bit distracting, because sometimes it's better to just focus on the sound of the language, without noticing translation or the way it is written. Afterwards, one can test themselves with provided subtitles. You can just provide notice at the start of the video that the subtitles are provided, and they can be turned on / off. Thanks!
Merci, this was very encouraging for a beginner in Australia . I have a French teacher so I get to practice conversation every week but I’ve been trying to force my brain to learn and it’s not working lol 😂.

Thank you
Bonjour, félicitations pour vos progrès. Très bonne journée et à bientôt.
This video was very special!!

I have no one with whom to speak French so I talk to my cats in French. They ignore me in either language so it doesn’t matter.

Merci
Génial !
Merci et bonne journée!
French spoken slowly! My High school french is coming back. Merci!
Brilliant! Exactly my sentiment living in France these past 3 years, having moved from the UK. Be patient, be curious- I always felt those were key. Thank you for reassuring and motivating me even more, you guys rock👍👍👍
Merci. Yes it's about having fun and enjoying the process. 💪💪
I am not learning French, and yet (via subtitles) your message was gently but effectively motivating. Wonderful speaking pace!
I love how clearly you pronounce everything and the speed at which you speak is very helpful for beginners. I only wish that your subtitles were quite a bit larger because on the phone it's a little challenging to read.
Thank you very much for your comment we will try to improve this !

As a beginner, your temperament and encouraging nature is almost emotional. I love your style and your videos, please keep making them
Merci beaucoup. I'm glad you enjoy our content. We'll keep making more. I'm preparing new vlogs, podcasts and monologues. Thank you so much for your support.

OMG... You are my new hero...! Thanks for those encouraging words...!
Merci Jorge! Bonne journée !
Am liking it.Am growing my vocabularies slowly.Listening the french speaking people is tricky coz they speak too fast but I have no choice than to learn time and again
Excellent, mon ami !
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo. Vous avez raison.
Merci beaucoup..your voice is so calming and encouraging..thank you from someone who struggles with the same thing..cheers!!!
Thank you!
Thanks so much. For us beginners, the method is very helpful. Please don't change the speed or anything else. Merci ❤❤❤
Merci!
Merci pour le explication, It's a pleasure to listen to your videos 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉, same as you ,I'm also having difficulty to speak French .
Very helpful and encouraging. Many thanks.
How lovely these words of encouragement were. Merci beaucoup. This is really really commendable

@@FrenchFacile12 so glad to hear it. I watched one during breakfast and it’s a great way to start the day 👍🏻 Mille mercis !!!
Awesome. The next one will probably be in Bordeaux. But in the meantime we are preparing a podcast with Nicolas.
Merci! :)
Thanks!
"Your videos are always so well-made and engaging!"
Bonjour, merci beaucoup pour ce message. Très content que le Vlog vous plaise! Bonne soirée et à bientôt
Merci, this was very encouraging for a beginner in Australia . I have a French teacher so I get to practice conversation every week but I’ve been trying to force my brain to learn and it’s not working lol 😂.
