when the first chick gets possessed and starts "scatting", shes actually talking TO the movie viewers. I'm not exactly sure what shes saying, but it freaked out lots of korean movie viewers from what I heard
I really liked this film's first half. The extended time spent getting to know the cast members in the bar, on the car trip, and even at the water park could have felt like wasted time in a horror movie, but it genuinely made me like these characters and remember them all as individuals when the time came for them to start being killed. I also liked the fact that I couldn't tell which scares were planted by the team and which ones were 'actually happening' in the first half. That was a neat touch as the guys had to 'act' scared either way and the girls were naturally scared, thinking it was 'all real.'
I gotta say, this movie really blew me away. I love horror movies, especially found footage kind of horrors. But this one was really good. It was way fucking scarier than most others nowadays, and in the past few years. Severely underrated if you ask me. The black eyed girl when she starts spittin fire is some of the creepiest shit ive seen till today
Gotta love movies like this though. Some horror movies make me a bit paranoia-ed for a while. But this? As long as I don't go there, I'm good. Rewind, let's watch it again.
Having watched it a couple times (I love it), the recap doesn't get across the sound design of the film. All of the ghosts make deeply unsettling noises and in the case of the director NO noise as she silently floats towards the back of that guy.
I managed to watch this yesterday, but low key got scared when i went to the comments and didn't see any and couldn't find the video in my history on my other device. Thought Korean Spirits had messed with my Tech!
This movie doesn't really have those typical jumpscares but that creepy aura they delivered was amazing- Especially the last 30 minutes of the movie was amazing- the scene where those 3 people "entered" room 402 was just spine chilling *for me*
If you had heard those stories over and over again but never actually knew anyone who’s been there would you believe them? Do you believe them about places near where you live? If you’re that gullible I’ve got a bridge you might be interested in.
@@twicevelvet_pink2506 Thanks for the recommendation! I did watch his video on it, however. Didn't exactly seem like my type of movie. I like the psychological aspect of it but I really enjoy things like larger forces at play behind the minds and actions of the main characters, such as this movie. :)
It's actually nice of the spirits to warn everyone else of their fate if they go in there. If the spirits were completely bad they would appeal to others to visit the place and see for themselves what is inside.
Yes! Creepy as fuck. The only problem i had was when the ghost started manifesting on camera as it kinda loses the creepiness but at least the manifestation was short and nearly not as clear as the ghost in this film
I remember watching the movie after having a couple of beers and my girlfriend went to bed, not gonna lie, found it kind of funny so I started laughing. After the movie having been so subtle and slow, I was not expecting that snap-chat filtered rap possesed girl. The other scenes I found genuinly creepy though.
Come again? Do exorcists boil water to help exorcise? That doesn’t make a lot of sense Edit: found reason, holy water reacting to demonic and/or evil presence.
@Mr Bleach omg so true but for me it started earlier when charlotte freaked out after the she saw the doll moved, even though the real stuff hadn't started yet there. Her acting was too convincing that I got the chill
Faxx. The first time it genuinely freaked me out and I was expecting that when they implement those close up face cam footage, I'm thinking they are definitely gonna make a scary jumpscare thing from this.
It sad how she got what was probably the worst death in the movie when she regretted coming the most. She was the first to want to leave, told the others to be respectful and not touch the doll, and regretted writing her name on the wall. But somehow she gets the scariest and probably the most painful death :/ poor girl
American horror are mostly thrillers or with very obvious jump scares. I usually give em a 6 for build up but other countries does a really good job with build up esp Korean movies
I thought one of the ending video comment says that it was cut off after the guy said they were faking it? That means the chat actually saw everything we saw, except they thought it was all fake. So basically, straight after the captain left, it was cut off, and people were just saying they knew they were faking it. The ghosts didn't manipulate the feed. It kinda just manipulated time and space like grave encounters.
If I was in a horror movie, I would say no, and leave if my group so much as mentioned a cabin in the woods or a haunted asylum ect. Let them die, I will go on living my life.
What about a haunted house (like Halloween spook house not ghosts haunted house) in an old asylum (that is said to be actually haunted). We have one in my town, and I will probably never go. Mostly because it’s one where you have to sign a waiver and they can touch you.
first time i watched a horror film and got genuinely scared till my hands are shaking. they really did well building tension with the atmosphere/vibe of the scenes. the girl who got possessed really creeped me out, charlotte getting killed, the crew teleported into a some random space, and the captain getting slowly approached.
8:27 A few things- for one, it's impressive they managed to keep everyone seated for such a picture in relative order, and for two why are they surprised that all the people with severe mental health issues are looking in other directions, but the director is looking into the camera? Like a sane person?
definitely worth your time its a great movie imo better than most horror american movie which is stereotype and predictable. I prefer the more realistic and not made up story.
Divinedining korean people wear face masks on the regular in general. It’s like part of the fashion? Sometimes girls where it when we don’t wear makeup as an example.

@@warm_spittle2141 Everywhere in korea including streets signs are in english in korea. English is always used in South Korea. It's common. Because there's mixed language used there (English and Korean). But that doesn't make the whole korea americanized. Nothing americanized about it.
well in case you didn't know Republic of Korea (South Korea) is heavily influenced by USA. ROK was actually created by USA more or less with continous fundings, military support, international support, economy and cultural relations and investments following the Korean War as initially DPRK had already successfully occupied whole of Korea but was only pushed back after USA and NATO jumped in. Koreans traditionally doesn't drink coffee as it isn't a native bean to the region nor was it brought there through colonization like in Indochina and all. So the cafes as in coffee shops you see in Korea are heavily influenced through western influence and politics (of capitalism) thus why it's Americanized as English is now widely used in ROK than Korean itself and the culture has completely changed (even the movie itself is proof as Korean dramas are pretty different to the found footage genre and horror genre)
I wish someone would make a theory/analysis video on the meaning of some of the things in the film like the chicken and the underwear, as well as on what could have happened in the asylum, especially the director.
This was surprisingly very scary! The claustrophobic scenes in room 402 are chilling! I think the part where Charlotte was trapped alone was super creepy... and secondly, the part where they find water on the ceiling - that gravity isn't normal. That was so scary! What does one do when logic is out the window..
I want a movie about a really dispassionate depossesor. Like, guy looks like a legal accountant, suit and tie, really dettached, just walking around as ghosts and demons wail around him, doing his work, then noting his hours on a timesheet.
This might be the creepiest horror movie I've ever seen. Simply for that possession-like face with Ji-Hyun. The slurping sounds made me feel ILL, but I really enjoyed it. I think watching in a different language makes it feel super real and adds to the creep factor. Every Korean based movie I've watched has been AMAZING.
When “ghost hunters” finally get any activity, why do they all freak out and run away? LOL. Wouldn’t you be thrilled and want to stay and record whatever is happening? It’s why they’re there.

Good acting
I really liked this film's first half. The extended time spent getting to know the cast members in the bar, on the car trip, and even at the water park could have felt like wasted time in a horror movie, but it genuinely made me like these characters and remember them all as individuals when the time came for them to start being killed.
I also liked the fact that I couldn't tell which scares were planted by the team and which ones were 'actually happening' in the first half. That was a neat touch as the guys had to 'act' scared either way and the girls were naturally scared, thinking it was 'all real.'
It was a breath of fresh air.
I gotta say, this movie really blew me away. I love horror movies, especially found footage kind of horrors. But this one was really good. It was way fucking scarier than most others nowadays, and in the past few years. Severely underrated if you ask me.

Yeah and I feel like I’m actually watching the movie
Having watched it a couple times (I love it), the recap doesn't get across the sound design of the film. All of the ghosts make deeply unsettling noises and in the case of the director NO noise as she silently floats towards the back of that guy.

This movie doesn't really have those typical jumpscares but that creepy aura they delivered was amazing-
Especially the last 30 minutes of the movie was amazing- the scene where those 3 people "entered" room 402 was just spine chilling *for me*
Shouldn't these guys be a little concerned that everyone who visited this insane asylum wound up missing or has gone insane?
You would hope so right??? Ahhh horror movie characters right?
Horror movie character logic: *gotta see it to believe it*
If you had heard those stories over and over again but never actually knew anyone who’s been there would you believe them? Do you believe them about places near where you live? If you’re that gullible I’ve got a bridge you might be interested in.
@@MamaMOB I mean, the movie kinda showed that there was enough evidence to do research on past visitors. It's not that hard to do.

@@twicevelvet_pink2506 Thanks for the recommendation! I did watch his video on it, however. Didn't exactly seem like my type of movie. I like the psychological aspect of it but I really enjoy things like larger forces at play behind the minds and actions of the main characters, such as this movie. :)
I do appreciate how much of their effects seem to be practical instead of the super cgi grave encounters.
It's actually nice of the spirits to warn everyone else of their fate if they go in there. If the spirits were completely bad they would appeal to others to visit the place and see for themselves what is inside.
i gotta say the face of that girl possed was the most unsettling part of this movie
but the best asian found footage is gonna be noroi
Noroi the curse? I think it is far better than this...
This movie is weak..
Yes! Creepy as fuck. The only problem i had was when the ghost started manifesting on camera as it kinda loses the creepiness but at least the manifestation was short and nearly not as clear as the ghost in this film
I agree.
Noroi was great, but I thoroughly enjoyed gonjiam too, both had a slowish start but about midway, they both get interesting and scary

@@minhoney9859 Westerners think asians use traditional shit every time. Like, what did they expect the café to look like? 😭

well in case you didn't know Republic of Korea (South Korea) is heavily influenced by USA.
