Around here too just because it is Harley country(I own a '23 LRS), there are a bunch of bike shops that pile the same loud exhaust on endless bikes. The roar starts now(March) and never ends. I like a decent sounding exhaust system but this area puts so many of them on that it simply becomes obnoxious. You still hear the crap at 2AM...rain or shine...every asshole has one. Do I want to change my factory exhaust to something better sounding? Yea, I do but I hear the same thing soo much that my enthusiasm is not that much considering the cost. Stage 2 to 4...is it worth it? Likely not around here...just like bike events, everyone has the same damned thing.
Yeah! Totally true!! There’s not a lot of “options”. Just the same major companies… some with great products, but yeah, everyone has the same. I guess custom would be the route to go… but $$$
I grew up around an old motorcycle event...Loudon/Laconia, NH. I enjoyed the old bike "weekends"...there were no cell-phones, no internet. There were murders(yea, violence)...not that it is a great thing but that's the way it used to be...random camping on the side of the road...drunkenness and gang-like hooliganism. Things are more like family carnival scenes now with OEMS(Harley, et al) jamming products down your throat and vendors just trying to take as much of your money as they can. I only live 3 miles from our local(and supposedly) the oldest in the nation rally. But, I do not even bother to take a casual ride through it because it is just a big money-grab, IMO. Most Harley's are trailered to these events. I'd prefer to ride my own and just go camping somewhere and leave the circus to the suckers.
Yeah… it’s all subjective. At the end of the day, every thing in life is to get your money, loyalty, attention, VIEWS 😏. It’s just great when it’s mutually beneficial. Yeah, Harley promo’s a lot… to test ride, you have to provide a bunch of info so they can market to you… but, you also get to play with some awesome machines lol. But same is said for anything in life. Valentine’s Day… Christmas… At least it makes a nice location, for like minded people to get together and enjoy what they like (motorcycles in this case) and of course that will bring all the companies/biz because you literally have a TON of your clientele in one area. But, I get what you mean.
