  • Hello! In this video we are working on the Dualmatic locking hubs that were installed on the 1943 Willys MB project. This was a modification made to this jeep in the 60's by the current owner. In this video I'm disassembling and cleaning the hubs, then testing them out to ensure they work properly.

I had friend loose his life in the 1950’s because his car fell on him due to a concrete block supporting it failed. It looks like you are using solid blocks which probably are ok.
    Jack stands are the best.

I have those and this is the best explanation I’ve heard as to how they function.

Only a few older locking hubs will fit the MB"s and CJ2A"s with the threaded end with nut, some times they cut the threaded part of axle off to make other locking hubs work and that is a no,no,that nut sets the end play of axle shaft into the bushings which results in the axle moving back and forth and shortening the life of axle and other components it drives!

Thanks for the great comment. Yes I was told this by another guy here locally - as you mentioned, the Rzeppa joint on the axle shaft needs to sit at a certain place, or it’ll wear out with the in/out play due to the threads not holding them anymore. When I went through another front diff I replaced the drive axles with newer spicer axle shafts that worked better with the Warn hubs. I could stick my grease gun in the full plug and access the zerk fitting to lubricate them.
