    Great Video! Informative! Great show & tell so we can visualize......Not all of us are at the same level understanding. I'm entry level, but trying to absorb allot of info. I have front snow blower, your video made it click to use float to my advantage, but can take it if needed. Appreciate this video very much!

    Totally loved this video. I purchased my John Deere 3033R tractor brand new. They gave me about three hours of instructions on how to use the tractor since I never owned a tractor 🚜 before. John Deere NEVER explained the Float Function to me. After using it like 20 times since watching this video it was a game changer for me. I now use it all the time to level off my dirt road. Thank you so much Courtney for making me aware of this Float Function. 🚜🚜🚜

    I noticed that one of my levers on my X728 "clicked/locked" into place when I pushed it forward all the way, but I didn't know until your video that it was the _float_ feature. Thank you!

    Thanks for the info! I wish my B2601 had a float function on my mower deck.
    This makes me wonder if there is a way to add a float function to the rear hydraulic kits from Summit? There's a company that sells ditch and bank flails that offers an add on kit with their machine but dont offer any real info about valve itself. I only mention this becauseive tried to find such a valve to use and cant find anything.

    Nice "float" function explanations! One thing that might freak a new owner out about the FEL float function... If you have the FEL attachment (bucket) on the ground with the FEL boom cylinders in float mode and you encounter some kind of higher resistance, the front end of the tractor can rise up off the ground. In reality, what is happening is that the tractor is "ridding up" up the boom cylinders and will do this until the cylinders bottom out on their stroke. This doesn't normally cause any damage as long as your ground speed is not overly fast and you're paying attention.

      Thank you, I have had that problem and thought I was doing it all wrong

    • @bradmeacham6982
      @bradmeacham6982 4 роки тому +1

      @@dalcassian56 You can also temporarily pop the boom cylinders out of float back to the neutral position to push past the resistance and then return the boom cylinders back to the float position.

      @@bradmeacham6982 Thanks again! The first time I tried the forward float, the tractor lurched up so suddenly I nearly cracked my skull on the frame of the cab. Thank god this skull is so thick! :)

    Do you have to do something (shift wise) to let you 3pt float? We have a 2025R with a bush hog. Maybe it's floating already?

    How about the bucket re-gen/fast dump mode, by pushing the SCV lever fully to the right detent? As I understand it, it is essentially a float mode that allows the hydraulic oil to freely circulate between both sides of the cylinder piston.

    • @slowride55
      @slowride55 2 роки тому

      No. It uses the oil being returned from the rod end of the cylinder to charge the cap end along with the oil that is flowing from the pump on the tractor already.

    So I’m guessing floating usually just open the valve on hydraulics just to let it move? Is there adjustable float where you can have some resistance on it to where it would give under a heavy situation but not with just a little resistance? Or to at least slow the amount of float? Like if I have a really heavy attachment and hit float will it lower slowly instead of just dropping it?

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  3 роки тому +1

      No float adjustment that I'm aware of. Just either in float or not.

      @@GoodWorksTractors 1st let say, I am new to the sub compact tractors. Mine is Orange & I love it!!
      I Know very little, but watching videos like this really help, then I can go out & try info...
      Wouldn't the weight of the attachment give the "float" position some resistance? Say a front mounted snow blower, more resistance than say a feather sweeper. LOL (a silly comparison, between attachment weight and "resistance the Shane is speaking about?
      Shane 2nd point: Kubota has a hydraulic control valve, on right side of seat. For the very reason Shane states, heavy attachment will drop like a rock. This valve if set for the attachment will prevent that from happening, I have read & seen in videos, but I thought it was for only rear hydraulics, not mid or front, say for snow blower?
      Am I correct or wrong?
      Thanks for listening.....
