What you said doesn't make sense. Autotune is just the name of the most popular pitch correction software, but it's still pitch correction. He can actually use autotune without sounding robotic at all. It only sounds like so when you turn the retune speed to 0. Otherwise, it sounds very natural like this when the retune is higher
modern artists use tuning programs like melodyne to time stretch and cut in the best takes of a song, throws em together and fine tune the vocals. from there, they go to the "generic" autotune plugin and put the retune around 5 or maybe more. just depends on the artists. this makes it pop more and makes it sound finished rather than raw. it wont wobble between pitches though because it was already corrected previously.

This is probably a DIY a capella (the person edited out the instrumental by their self), but a lot of artists release individual tracks (instrumental or a capella) on promo singles and a lot of them have headphone bleeds because YOU GOTTA HAVE HEADPHONES IN WHILE RECORDING..
