Really nice video. I wish I could go back to the 40's and see the Alleghenys and other favorites with the AV equipment now available. I never thought we would see a Big Boy operating again. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely your best video yet! Wonderful shots of 4014! Favorite shot is the bridge shot and the meet with 1995. You had quite the time down south there lol.
yeah youtube or someone else put that ad on there, if i actually had enough subscribers and watch time to monetize my videos i would have put it in a different spot most likely lol
@@LoowitRail Oh I didn't mean any virtual ads added by UA-cam. I was actually referring to the great big yellow advertisement for Union Pacific numbered 7731 that decided to videobomb the shot of 4014 and 844 departing.
The flag is fluttering against the direction forward. I am amazed! The train appears to be moving at least around 30-35 mph and could it be that the draft from the steam is fluttering the flag forwards???? 07 39
@@LoowitRail Yeah I can identify with that. I have done a lot of editing over the years of trains, both model and real. Takes a lot of time to get it right. You, keep up the good work.
I wonder if some of these railroad companies pay graffiti artists to decorate their boxcars. It may have started out as vandalism, but some of it is so elaborate and pretty that they've got to be paid.
The diesel locomotive is to provide HEP (Head End Power) to the passenger cars, also they just restored 4014 so they were probably putting it there just to be safe.
I was in Ogden and spoke with one of the crew. That's a small part of it. 4014 was designed to pull very heavy loads. The diesel is put in a dynamic mode to provide resistance. It also helps save on the brakes going down grades. There's another video from May 12th showing the train leaving Echo. The wheel spin in the footage is most likely due to the resistance being applied.
Duelling train horns at 2:10. How cool!
Simply great ! Thanks a lot. Wonderful landscapes and steam engines.

Big Boy or is it Challenger?

Looking forward to seeing Big Boy 4014 fully loaded and running flat strap. What a spectacular sight seeing her running as she is designed to do
И я в восторге от этого мощного паровоза😊❤❤❤❤

It was most likely blowing at a 45 degree angle or so, it looks like that because the camera is zoomed in all the way.
great video mate very big like and sub.
very epic
Locations? Where was each shot made? Would have added to the video if you had identified your locations. Other than that, you did a fine job. Thanks.
I was considering that, it took forever to edit this alone though.

Nice video! Does it stop at the Utah/Wyoming border to change state flags?
Probably, I only chased it from east of Rock Springs to Cheyenne.
Cool

2:36 Damnit diesel!
I found it pretty annoying too lol

Funny enough I was debating whether to get on the other side or not. I guess staying didn’t pay off. :x

I want to see this locomotive pull a mile long freight train.
Me too.
Make a cab ride
If I ever get the chance to, sure!

Does UP have so little confidence in its steam locomotives that a diesel locomotive always has to be there ??? 😢...Greets from Germany...

Yeah. I’ve rode behind Nickel Plate Road 765 and it didn’t need the diesel for propulsion, mostly for head end power

it might be if the big boy gets stuck there and then the diesel could drag it back if need be
